My favorite nail salon in Portland. Staff was super kinda and my nails looked perfect going into vacation.

Today I went for the first time to this salon. I've tried several salons in the SW Portland area and I divided to give this place a try and loved it. My nails came out exactly how I wanted them to be. My technician really pad attention to my cuticles and to the health on nails in general. The service did not feel rushed but instead felt like she really was focus on details to ensure a good nail shape and look overall. Both techs at the salon were very nice, they kept asking if I was enjoying my service and offered refreshments right as I sat down. They have so many options for different types of gel nails that made the experience better. I got gel x this time and definitely will be back. Very reasonable price. read more

Came here randomly cause I needed to remove a gel tip set and I called on a Tuesday morning and they were available. I forgot the lady working but she was so nice and attentive she really took care of me and and my nails!!! I was very satisfied with my nails once everything was removed and was also very happy with the manicure after. There seemed to be a good amount of chairs for mani and pedis. I'm genuinely shocked this place has 4 stars. I came in with an appointment for a dip manicure, and the experience was disappointing from the start. The nail tech didn't know how to remove my existing dip set using the electric file -- she had to be shown how by another tech, and then they switched me mid-service. I assumed the second tech would be more experienced, but that turned out not to be the case. Throughout the appointment, she kept trying to push me to switch to gel, even though I made it clear I wanted dip. I originally asked for a French tip, but she said I could only choose one color -- something I've never been told at any other salon. I settled on a dark pink, but after two coats, it was completely sheer. When I asked if there was a way to fix it, she suggested trying a darker color with another coat of dip -- but even that ended up being see-through. I honestly don't think she applied it correctly. I've had dip nails for years and have never experienced this kind of result. Then she got upset with me for it still looking see-through, even though she picked out the color and clearly didn't know her own product. She kept applying more layers of dip, and when it was still sheer, she blamed the thickness on me for choosing dip instead of gel. Eventually, she applied gel polish over the dip to try to cover it up, which felt like a lazy fix. Within two days, the gel started peeling off in chunks, and it had a strong chemical smell. I was genuinely concerned it hadn't cured properly -- which can be dangerous or trigger allergic reactions. All of my nails were also different shapes and lengths and this manicure completely ruined my nails along with being cut under my nail and bleeding. I sat there for over two hours -- way longer than any dip manicure I've ever had -- and left completely frustrated. This was right after work, and it felt like a total waste of my time. The entire experience was unprofessional, uncomfortable, and disappointing. I would say this place is really hit or miss depending on the day and which nail tech you get. It is easy to get an appointment and definitely the price is good but sometimes they over book or don't say no to walk ins and aren't actually giving you a good service. When they are focused on you it does tend to be good, but often times you're switching between people because one doesn't do the actual painting and it doesn't feel like you've gotten a very good pedicure at the end. The lady who seems to run the place and paint nails does a good job trying to keep up with it all and she does paint well but I just wish they'd say no if they are too busy to do a good job. The one other tech we usually see also is a little rough and sometimes painful. It's unfortunate because we do keep coming back here and want to support here since it's a small business but it has gotten more disappointing each time. They do offer mimosas and other drinks which is nice read more

I have never been a manicure person, but Mimosa Nails has become a part of my routine! The ladies that run it our absolutely lovely, and the results are great. For $35, they simply cannot be beat. My friend called and made an appointment on Sunday at 1:30, they said they could even squeeze us in at 1:15 if we could be there earlier - we could not. The appointment was for two manicures and one pedicure, three people with one service each. We arrived and they had trouble knowing what services we were getting and were confused. We finally got that sorted out and watched the four other people in the salon be helped by the two ladies working. We were nice and patient, and since I was the one getting the pedicure I was able to get my feet in warm water and get the massage on the chair going before we were actually helped. I inquired about a menu after we finally started to receive some service, about 30 minutes into it. She showed me the menu and told me the prices weren't right and that I would be paying $50 for a hot stone pedicure. Well, as you can see by my pictures, it's listed online at $40 and in store at $45. That is a major red flag to me. My pedicure started with one of the ladies who was in the shop. The next red flag was the use of Dawn dish soap on my feet. What the heck? Then the cuticle cutting was extremely painful and deep, I've never had that experience in all my years of getting a pedicure. Under the nail was not cleaned and the bottoms of my feet were scrubbed only with the regular file/brush. Then a mask was applied to my legs and a warm towel was put on. A younger girl walked in the shop and I found out very quickly that she would be finishing my pedicure. She had the stinkiest stink face I've ever seen in my life. She did not want to be there and it was more than evident. The original lady told me that it was her daughter and she made her come in to come help. It was written all over her face that she wanted nothing to do with that shop or me. She then gave me my paraffin wax and got the hot stones ready for the worst massage I've ever received while getting a pedicure. The massages is my absolute favorite part and that's why I usually get a better pedicure than the basic, so I can have a better massage. The temperature was off on the stones and they were really hot at first, and she was upset when I told her they were too hot. It was just a nightmare to be honest. We wound up being in there a total of two and a half hours again for two manicures and one pedicure. They did keep the champagne flowing for my friends which was nice, but my 8 oz water went very quickly and I was never offered a refill. Speaking of champagne, the lady who was working couldn't open it so she asked me to. The very last thing that was the nail in the coffin... a very nice black lady came in who had called and she was met with a very obvious attitude from the staff. She made eye contact with me and it was very noticeable that they didn't really want her in the store. She and I were able to exchange brief words and she went to another shop down the street. All I can say is, save your money and go elsewhere. And now I'm out $50 plus a 10% tip which was more than generous. read more

I've had the best and the worst gel manicures at Mimosa. Coincidentally, both experiences were with the same nail tech. The best was perfection, and it lasted two whole weeks! Unfortunately, after my latest experience, I will not be returning I called ahead and made a reservation for a gel mani on Mother's Day, for an upcoming event and to pamper myself. When I arrived, I asked to see the book of gel colors. When the mani started, everything went as planned, until the woman took out regular polish. I reminded her that I was getting a gel manicure, and was then chastised for "changing my mind." As she applied the gel polish, I noticed it wasn't smooth, but wavy, bumpy, even scratched on two fingers. She was rushing to put it on, telling me that none of the women wanted to come into work, because it was Mother's Day (I get it!) and that reservations like mine would be causing them stay longer. She noticed her poor application and said it was because she'd put lotion on before painting, and hadn't asked me to wash my hands. She made no effort to fix it. She said, "It looks good! It will last a long time. Two weeks!" The result was terrible. It lasted 5 days before it began to peel off. When I went in to have it removed, on day 6, I was told it would cost me $10. No thanks. Due to the unreliability of the quality and customer service, I will not be returning to Mimosa. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR $, TIME OR CUTICLES on this terrible place. It was already rough when we got there and the lady (I'm assuming is the boss or owner) rushed us to take pictures. They turned out terrible because she just kept snapping before we were even ready. Their "massages" were pathetic. They promised cupcakes and hello kitty to the kids and they ended up with something that resembled a bear or a dog. Still debatable. Then the owner worked on my nails and cut my cuticle and made me bleed. Accident, sure, I totally understand, but then she called me a BABY!! You made me bleed and then mock me for saying ouch!?!?!? She was staring everywhere else BUT at my nails! All my cuticles hurt for the whole weekend and I kept spraying Neosporin on it. I noticed I didn't see her sanitize any of her tools! Then when it was time to pay, she started yelling at us for 20% tip. My friend gave her $5 because of the terrible service and job they did and she yelled "that's it!?!?!" and pointed at the $3 in her hand! She did that to 3 of us, demanding more $. Honestly..... probably the worst experience ever. First of all, it's not a very nice nail salon. Secondly, please do not throw my hands around, I am not a rag doll. Also, please, lose the attitude. I hate when I come in a salon bright and bubbly and they just have the worst attitude. I don't get it. Do you want customers, or not? I understand everyone has bad days but at the end of the day these are all potential clients and they need to be treated with respect. The nail techs make it blatantly obvious when they are talking about you in any fashion and I find it to be incredibly disrespectful. The nails, nothing to write home about. I felt worse for the person sitting next to me who got a totally botched job. It was really uncomfortable getting my nails done here as the tools and file my nail tech was using seemed really beaten and battered. I'm not claiming they don't sanitize their tools but i'm also not saying they do. It's safe to say I will never be back to Mimosa nails. I can not recommend this place to anyone unfortunately. I had the day off and decided to get my nails done. I called around 10:30AM and set a dip-powder appointment for 11:00AM. Upon entering the salon there were only two attendants. I sat down and the attendant started shaping and filing down my nails. She was very rough with my hands/nails and used tools that obviously hadn't been cleaned. She didn't draw any blood but my cuticles are sore and rubbed raw. The entire time the women kept answering her phone while throwing my hands around distractedly. At this point I was starting to feel annoyed and I am the most chill person you'll ever meet. Continuing on, the entire process felt rushed even though it was just me and another girl getting a pedi in the salon. She rushed through the entire process doing a mediocre job and hurting me in the process. Looking back I should have just got up and left but I didn't want to offend her. It also took her an hour and a half to do a very basic dip powder. After it was over with I had to go into my car and file my nails down to the right shape. The dip powder and color are bumpy and blotchy... not to mention it was 50 DOLLARS + tip! All in all I paid 62 DOLLARS for a sh*t experience plus physical pain. If you want to flush your money down the toilet and feel disappointed come on down to Mimosa Nails. I'm going to post a photo and honestly after I've doctored them up they're tolerable looking...but once you've had good dip powder you know when something is mediocre. But here's the thing: if I show up on time for my appointment, please don't park my ass in a chair and let me soak and quietly simmer while you completely ignore me for the next 15 minutes. I would have appreciated it if you'd offered me a beverage or something while I waited for my appointment to finally begin. This place wasn't the worst mani but in my top 10. Don't come here if you have sensitive nails. I informed the manicurist 3 times that my nails/skin are very sensitive. She filed my nails in a rush and sliced my finger tip with the nail file. After the bleeding stopped she tried cleaning my nails with her nails. The paint job was awful, I still have polish all around my nails. $27 for a shitty gel mani. Never coming here again. read more
