And it isn't too expensive. And they do have some dairy-free sorbets. And if all that wasn't enough, you can get your gelato in shake form or on a waffle. The only real drawback to this place is the line of happy customers it tends to attract.

So as it was, I found myself in between meetings a few Friday afternoons ago and when faced with the decision to sit in one of the new casual bars along Oxford Street or try Nom Nom, I opted for the lure of freshly made on-site gelato. A regular cup with two flavours of salted caramel and coffee to be precise. There's not many aires and graces in store but who needs fanciful distractions when the product is this good. The gelato is made on-site daily and is the result of the owner's study of gelato making in Italy and desire to bring what he'd learnt back home. The fruits of his labour show in a well-edited range of flavours from classic vanilla bean to more trend-driven combinations. Either way, given the high quality ingredients you don't need much to enjoy this gelato. Take a small cup, fill with your favourite flavour and wander down to perch yourself in the park. It's the perfect antidote to a busy day and certainly brings you back down to earth!

You can enjoy gelato in a cup or cone, as well as crepes (sweet and savory), sundaes and shakes. Definitely try the Asian flavours like Black Sesame and Green Tea gelato. They are so good! The gelato on display is often shaped into cute shapes like dogs. Not really sure why, but it's fun. They are open until late, as are most eateries in Market Square, until 10pm most nights and 11:20pm on Friday and Saturday.

I got two different crepes for my mum and friend and they came out in a thin crispy, folded up cardboard cone that you can hold while you eat it. The food was pretty good especially because they used real Nutella and bananas and strawberries in their crepes. The whole dessert was biodegradable which makes the whole meal much better. Loved the meal and and it was pretty good. Might have to go back and try some of the savoury meals (and enjoy the sorbet afterwards too!).

Emily's Sweet Treat is in a little set of food shops on Sandgate Road and unless you knew about it you probably would drive right past. What a horror that would be. Filled with absolutely beautiful looking sweets and a small brunch type menu this is a great place for afternoon tea. (n.b they also do a high tea!) I chose a flat white for my afternoon fuel up, which was really good and strong, plus a red velvet cupcake. Guys. GUYS. This Red Velvet cupcake is something else, the cake was fluffy and the icing was buttery but still light and delicious. I think I'm in love! I also got 2 macarons to take home because they looked incredible (and there was a 10$ EFTPOS minimum). All in all I can see myself going back here so many times, someone is definitely going to have to restrain me. Everyone else can keep their crazy donuts as long as I can keep returning here!

Perfect amount of vanilla, which so many places get wrong. Prices are good, just need to work on serving sizes.
