She is affordable, has 20+ years in the business as a Professional Vet Tech, your dogs trust her immediately, and you genuinely feel you can trust her too. My wife and I have 2 dogs : A 15 year old rescue that requires pills morning and night for her arthritis, and ear drops once a day for a chronic ear issue that must be kept at bay. Our other dog is a diabetic min pin who has gone blind due to the diabetes and occasionally now will sadly have seizers (not just anyone can care for these type of dogs) . Neither dog does well outside my home/yard these days, or with strangers. So boarding was not an option whenever our family needed to leave town I had to bother a close friend to come over daily and work around their schedule, etc. And I didn't trust the neighbor kid to follow through on timely feedings. Then I was introduced to Shannon. She is actually more affordable than a kennel/dr office, comes to my house twice a day walks, feeds, and medicates the dogs and my dogs never have to leave the house (A stress free situation for us all). And I feel safer about her doing this than a friend because she was a trained Vet Tech for years. We actually have Shannon do the ear cleanings and nail trim too. She comes to us, I don't have to load everyone to the Vet! And she charges is about the same as the Vet does! It' a life saver. You'll love her too.

I was originally introduced to this veterinary hospital by my dog trainer, Vladae from SoCal Dog Training and I'm very glad I followed that recommendation. Over the years, Dr. Wheaton and his team have taken excellent care of my chocolate Labrador, Bruno. Now with my new puppy, Nico, also a chocolate Lab, choosing Alicia Pet Care Center again was an easy decision. Dr. Matthew is extremely knowledgeable, but more importantly, he is straightforward and trustworthy which is rare and very valuable. Their extended hours, including full-day Saturdays, make scheduling very convenient. They also offer a drop-off service, which is incredibly helpful when things get busy. Overall, a reliable, a bit pricey, but professional, and honest veterinary clinic. Thank you, Dr. Matthew and team.

It's possible their regular vets are fine (hopefully), but their backup vet should be avoided if…read moreyou need to bring your pets here urgently. She recommends unnecessary procedures while using fear tactics, which is a shame. The backup vet was very incompetent. She recommended the wrong solutions and suggested imaging that cannot detect soft tissue issues. She never asked any history questions, examined the wrong area entirely, and jumped straight to worst case scenarios without justification. She spent only 5 minutes on the consultation and pushed for X-rays when in my dog's case, those weren't even necessary. X-rays are not the right protocol for soft tissue issues. I didn't have a choice as they were the only place open that day. A few days later my dog is completely fine because it wasn't actually that hard to fix. He had full anal glands that just needed to be emptied ... and this vet was pushing for X-rays and bloodwork instead One thing worth mentioning, she was very quick to suggest cancer or tumors without proper justification. What she may not know is that intact male dogs actually have hormonal protection that significantly reduces the risk of certain cancers in that area. A more knowledgeable vet would have considered this before jumping to worst case scenarios. This is basic intact male biology that should be understood before making such alarming suggestions to worried pet owners. That's why I usually just bring my dogs to my regular holistic vets in Irvine and Laguna Beach. To be fair, the regular staff are lovely. The vet tech was excellent, agreed with my decisions, and actually helped. So I do believe their regular vets and staff are much better. This one star is specifically for the backup vet. Please be very careful if they assign you to her.

Not to mention previously employed as contract worker for 2 Pet Sitters in Orange County companies. Penny's gift for befriending and caring for my 2 dogs eclipsed even my experience. In the 2 years I've served as guardian for a feral golden retriever, Maddy, who was rescued in Taiwan I had never been spent a night away from her. Permitting anyone other than myself to even hold even hold Maddy's leash (she bucks like a bronco) Maddy refuses to be touched by anyone but me. My other dog, Skippy, loves everyone but I dared not allow him to be walked as they've never been separated. So what beside feeding and potty pickup could a pet sitter do? Here comes Penny who had Maddy eating out of her hand at first visit. Say what? Penny has a near magical way with animals and found creative ways to engage my fear driven dog. Penny proceeded to bring her pets, Oreo and Snickers, to turn every visit into a doggy play-date. Then she brought 2 friendly pups she was pet sitting and made my backyard a small dog park. (Penny had my authorization to do so. Daily she brought treats and toys to my furbabies and sent multiple videos showing the 6 dogs playing together. Rather than feel guilt spending Christmas away, I was glad that Penny opened the horizon of comfort for my feral dog. Her first visit during Christmas rush, whereby I'd expect 20 minutes in my home, resulted in an hour plus visit. Upon my return I only wish I could afford Penny 's services to continue to acclimate my fear driven Maddy to learn to trust humans. Penny's prices are reasonable and a bit higher than some, but what with gifts for both me and my pups over Christmas, and her self-motivation to put my dogs' need beyond paid time to sit, made her the best deal available. I'll never settle for less as long as Penny is available! * Expect videos or pictures on each visit **Penny's contract advises she does not accept aggressive dogs. But shy or fearful pets are her forte.
