My wife and I love to set up a camping trip once a year for us and the grandkids. And, this year was extra special since the quarantine kept us apart. The other part is to try and stay as close to home as possible for work reasons and the fact we're getting older and may need reinforcements at any time. That leads us to Pilot Knoll Park in Highland Village off Lake Lewisville. With aprox. 59 camp sites that each include water and electricity, this place is great. But we don't own a camper, so here's this years hidden jem. We rented a 32 foot, pull behind Shadow Cruiser from Happy Camper Rentals (5 stars). What a great experience this was. From the first phone call, Chris explained the process, verified that my F150 was the right vehicle to use, And when he found out that we were going to Pilot Knoll he offered to take it there and set it up for us! What? Now since we were thinking about buying one I wanted to do it myself, but the offer was solid. So, on the day of pickup I met Chris at the designated location. Chris took the time to show me around the camper and how to use everything. Chris also demonstrated how to set it up, since I had never done this before. And then before pulling out, he gave me his personal cell number in the event I needed something. Which we did! I made on minor error setting it up and could not get the trailer off the hitch. Happy campers? ...you bet we are! Stop thinking about it, and rent it! But bring it back the way you found it so we can enjoy it again! We rated 5 stars for a reason and we plan to rent here again and again. Like borrowing from a trusted friend. The help and info provided prior to the trip was truly top notch. You don't find this kind of help, except here. You really can't go wrong. Buying a camper is VERY expensive and we figure we can use this rental at least 3-4 times a year and be money ahead as opposed to buying one. ...which gives me a chance to upgrade my Cummins a bit. Lol. An Exhaust brake and smarty tuner chip will be on the way. This camper is nice, new, clean, and fun!! It made for an awesome family trip to dinosaur valley state park and fossil rim wild life safari. Highly recommend both of those destinations because both are close and provided a dream weekend's worth of family activity. I found out the hard way as I was picking up the trailer that my 7wire trailer connector wasn't working properly and had to fix it before leaving out. The entire rental experience was excellent! While contacting the owner (Chris) via phone about the rental he was polite, professional, informative and quick to respond. We had never used a travel trailer before so I had no idea what I needed to do to get the trailer set up. Once I met the owner to pick up the trailer, he spent approximately an hour with me explaining in detail what I needed to do in order to get the trailer set up for me and my family to camp in. The trailer was in great shape and extremely clean. Once we got to our camp site, I used the instruction manual (provided by Happy Camper) and my tutorial from the owner to get everything set up with NO problems. Literally everything I needed to get set up was clean and in perfect working order. The camper fit our needs perfect and we had a great time camping. Packing the trailer up was the same as set up, simple and easy with the help of the instruction manual. Great 3 day rental from Happy Camper. Camper is in excellent condition and very clean. New queen mattress is very comfortable - not one of the standard issue, thin, mattresses that come with most camper trailers. All equipment - cook top, fridge, tv, furnace, lights, outdoor kitchen worked as expected. Chris did a great 'pre-flight' review of all the features and explained how everything worked. Chris also developed his own users manual with pictures that is very helpful if you can't remember how certain things work. Great experience renting from Happy Camper. Chris went above and beyond to accommodate our dates. The camper was a great size for a family of 4. Especially with the rainy days we had.
