We can't find it. It's now named Da Shark Shack and definitely not a Filipino fusion restaurant

During my last visit here, we had amazing service and the best salad I've ever had in my life. The fish was fried to perfection without being overly oily, and everything about it was sooooo delish. I would fly back just for the salad and a Mai tai.

I love nostalgia, and the Royal Kona and Don's take me back decades, away from the heartless, sterile, expensive, modern over-the-top luxury hotels/bars in Kohala. The open air, kitchy decor complete with huge tikis and vintage island atmosphere is Frank Sinatra/Elvis Hawaii era and I LOVE it. Great happy hour deals with awesome pupus (I love the coconut shrimp and pork belly) and traditional mai-tais. We went yesterday to see Henry Kapono perform, and meet up with local kine ohana (7 total), only to get turned away from the main seating area because they were all "reserved" even though we came more than 40 mins before happy hour started, and nobody was sitting there. Bar still empty. So, we had to sit outside of the main bar area, which was disappointing. This wasn't the case last year when we saw Kapono. Sadly, that removes one star. If you have a small group and not going during a music performance, you should be able to sit in the main bar area. Get there before 4pm to get a seat and get started on the happy hour. Highly recommended.

Chicken we ordered had no grill marks like before and the chicken was placed on top as one piece. Very little lettuce, and the shell it came in was smaller. Really sad to see. I know everyone is cutting corners and making concessions to make a profit but this was not a meal sized portion. We've enjoyed fish and chips, sliders, tacos, burgers, salads prior to the changes. For old time sake I ordered a Mai Tai. I was surprised a lime wedge replaced the pineapple and cherry skewer I enjoyed. Staff is friendly and host was very nice. Music at 6 pm is fun. We love watching the sunset, musicians playing and sometimes a gracious hula dancer. It can be busy, long waits for dinner. I really hope Huggo's on the Rocks can retain its special charm.

Ravenous and throat parched, the pictures for The Temple drew us in. Restaurant was empty save a family of 6 sitting in the corner. To summarize the experience the food tasted as delicious as it looked. Service was spot on. Skip the barbecue chicken tacos they were overrated. Our server warned against it but we were feeling chicken. It was a mid dish. The star of the show was the Calabrese Flatbread. It was phenomenal. Really tasty, ample cheese, marinara sauce, with large chunks of sausage that were so flavorful. The potatoes we got were supposed to be island potatoes and tasted okay with lots of Chimmichuri Sauce. Ask for more on the side to dip the potatoes in. Kona beer on tap, Michelob in bottles, and some nice house drinks to round it off. Their dessert selection looked tasty, but so full that stomach was hurting after the meal. Will be back again if I'm in the area!

So far, I have yet to have any sort of negative experience whatsoever. The food is always good, the coffee is tasty, and the staff is always super friendly! We ordered green salad as the sides and they were really good . Mixed greens, no iceberg, served with a tasty balsamic vinaigrette. The fish sandwich wasn't great. We' chose the seared ahi. It was cooked completely through, which was probably a good thing because it was FAR from fresh--extremely "fishy." We've had a lot of ahi that past two weeks and this was the worst. Service was friendly and prompt, although it was clear we arrived at the end of our server's shift. We' were handed the check when we were nowhere near finished with our sandwiches. This wasn't a huge issue for us, but some people might feel put off by that. Cleanliness was still an issue--the tables really be a good deep cleaning. You can't beat the view! There was construction right out front this time (not the restaurant's fault)) but at least it was interesting
