I'm always grateful to be apart of these events. Big thank you to Jando and Yelp for putting this together. The staff was very nice and attentive. The owner made everything fresh for us as we were there. This meant there was a slight wait for dishes but it was never anything crazy. The evening started with a belly dancer which distracted us while we were waiting for the food to start coming out. This was my first time experiencing a dancer...in a restaurant. Once the food came out it was time to go to work. First item to hit the table was the house made strawberry, lychee green tea lemonade. This was super refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. The first dish to come out were hot wings. These had a great flavor to them with just a little heat. These were really good and a must try if you come in. Second dish was the chicken quesadilla. This was average good, nothing really special about it. We then received some side dishes of rice and corn. Again just average good. Last item to reach the table was split chicken. It looked really good but unfortunately I think I had a bad batch served to me. When i took my first bite, I saw blood coming out of the chicken. As much as I enjoy a good Y.E.S. or a B&G Event, open community events are pretty awesome. It's great to see new folks, and shake up the game plans. Mirchi Peri Peri was a pretty good opportunity for folks to see what's the Y.E.S. is all about. Walking in we were met with Vera's enthralling belly dancing skills. That's a new one for me! Talented and engaging, she put on a great show! The food we were able to have was good. I was bummed that we didn't get to try the majority of what was advertised prior to the event. We had a primarily chicken menu. The wings were really good, the chicken quesadillas also were good, and there was literally tons of grilled chicken at the table. Sal was very friendly, and good to talk to. He was dropping by and checking on all of the tables. It was good to hear about the place. The staff did a terrific job of getting things out as fast as they could. Nobody should have left hungry. What a unique event, to not only show new Yelpers how much they can advocate for local businesses and for seasoned Yelpers to continue to support restaurants around town! Sal, the owner, was very welcoming and truly wanted each individual to leave his restaurant with a full tummy. His staff was so attentive and kind; the belly dancer was such an added bonus to all the fun of the night. In Session 2, we were served with bone-in Chicken Wings with their own homemade sauces, endless plates of their signature grilled (whole) Chicken, Halal Rice, Quesadillas, Creamed corn and Flan. The in-house sauces, specifically the Garlic sauce, were so tasteful and absolutely complimented the chicken dishes that were served through the night. Every chicken we had was very tender, which I always worry about, so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Thank you, Yelp Team and Mirchi Peri Peri, for such a fun night! What a fun time to kick off the long Memorial Day weekend. Learning from the Black & Gold Event at Uncle Chin's, I elected for Option 2 such that I could drive out to Katy post-rush hour and not be sitting in lots of traffic. The event started slightly past the 8:00pm start time, but once we were allowed in, the tables were made very nicely with place settings and Yelp swag all around. The night started out with Jando and owner Sal giving speeches. It was great to hear the story behind Mirchi, a fusion between Pakistani and African cuisines. We were then given free belly dancing entertainment. This was super unique touch at a Yelp event - not sure if it was coordinated through Yelp or Mirchi, but either way it was fun to watch and brought everyone together! Shortly after, we were served Sal's special-made strawberry lychee green tea lemonade. This was perfect and refreshing it had been a hot day earlier! Now for the food. The first plate that came out was the chicken wings. These were nice and crispy, and the sauce added a nice touch. Next were the quesadillas. I honestly thought these were average - nothing beyond your standard quesadilla, and I had to add sauce for flavor. The Peri Peri and garlic lime sauces at the table were a nice addition and helped add flavor to some of the food. I think I remember Sal mentioning that he imports Peri Peri sauce from London, which is pretty impressive. I had my first Nando's Peri Peri right in London, so you know the sauce is legit! Next was the bone-in chicken served with rice. The chicken has a nice grill flavor to it, but I was hoping for more spices. The table sauces definitely gave this one good flavor. Main thing to point out here was that not all of the chicken was cooked all the way through. There were some pieces that still had pink or blood inside, which is a huge no-no. A sort of cream corn came out to eat with the chicken. This was a nice balance to eat with the meat, but honestly nothing spectacular. For dessert, Sal brought out his special flan cake. This was actually really good - the top crust had a slight coffee flavor to it, and sweetness of the caramel was just right. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to try the other dishes that were advertised, like the chicken lollipop, beef bihari burgers, alfredo mac and cheese, and fries, as I was really looking forward to some of these. They made up for it by continuously bringing more bone-in chicken, chicken wings, and quesadillas. A really nice gesture, but most of us at the table were fatigued to have more of the same stuff. Thanks to Jando, Sal, and the Yelp Houston team for an excellent Community Event. I look forward to returning if I'm ever out in Katy and need a quick bite, as I saw that they offer a variety of lunch specials during the week. The HAPI Community Event for Yelp at Mirchi Peri Peri was set up as a tasting of 9 items + a strawberry lychee green tea lemonade. The event started with a brief introduction of the story of how the restaurant started and the owner's inspiration/background. Salman "Sal" was a very gracious host and had PLENTY of food for us to eat. While this was supposed to be a tasting he made sure that we were FULL and the food kept coming. Foods that were served included the chicken wings, bone-in chicken, and the chicken quesadillas. We were also served the peri rice and the corn. The chicken wings were by far my absolute favorite item that was served throughout the course of the night. The bone-in chicken that was served was slightly dry for my liking. Thankfully multiple courses of this chicken came out to us because as one of the other reviewers mentioned one of the chickens that was served to our table was pink and not cooked all the way through. The entertainment provided to us was great! Farrah had such a flare for theatrics which is exactly what you need when you are a belly dancer. I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the evening. What I was very disappointed with was that we did not get to taste the rest of the items. It wasn't even pointed out by the organizers that the items will not be served because they had run out due to not poor planning for the second session. We didn't get five of the nine items out of which I was REALLY looking forward to trying the beef bihari burgers. Shout out to Nancy T for working with Jando and the Yelp crew for making this event happen. Because Sal was such a great host and made sure we left with plenty of leftovers and had a great time, I would definitely come back to try this place even if I have to drive all the way to Katy. Another great YEE, thanks to Jando and team for organizing the event, and a shout out to Nancy T for suggesting the restaurant. Looking at their menu they have lots of options from kabob plates to a buffet style menu with AYCE chicken, burgers, and sides - which you don't see often. It's larger than expected from the outside, and since it's at the end of the shopping strip, there's plenty of parking. Salman was able to explain lots of their drinks and sauces are hand crafted, and told us that this restaurant focuses on Middle Eastern and North African fusion. Plus, it was dinner and a show - belly dancer and all! The food was very chicken heavy, wings, chicken quesadillas, grilled chicken, with a sides of basmati rice and creamed corn. I would prefer there were more vegetable options to balance the meal out but it was all very good. The wings tasted so fresh and their mix of sauces with the bbq tasted delicious, tangy, sweet, and a kick of heat. I really enjoyed our drink, it was light refreshing, not overwhelmingly sweet, and lychee forward which you don't see often. It was also quite warm inside, most likely due to the amount of people, the lighting, and heat coming from the kitchen with all of the frying and grilling. Had such a great experience! Mirchi Peri Peri is a Pakistani x African fusion restaurant brought to you by Sal and his team. After Jando and Sal gave introductions, it was followed by a belly dancing performance and plenty of food. We were served chicken wings, quesadillas, creamed corn, halal rice, and signature/grilled chicken. All of the chicken we had was tender and juicy. The quesadilla was flavor packed, and all of the food paired well with the 2 sauces. Yellow was more creamy and red was tangy with a kick of spice. I'm usually unable to make it to these events, but I'm so glad it was located close by this time. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Jando. It was nice to be able to put a name to a face. What a fun event! My husband and I both were able to go to the first session, and got there a tad bit late due to traffic. Parking was not bad at all! We missed the welcome speech, but our table friends told us all about it! Jando greeted us and it's always good to see him! The food just started to come out and we were enjoying the live dancing! We tried all the food- hot wings, chicken quesadilla, rice, corn, & chicken. We also got a strawberry drink. Hot wings had a kick to it, but we enjoyed them. Rice was a bit bland. Corn, quesadilla and chicken were BOMB. Definitely a must try. It was a tad hot in the restaturant, but gosh, everyone was so nice and welcoming. Shout out to Jando for putting this together, this event was nice. I've had peri peri before but not like this.The meat was super flavorful. Sal is the owner. He makes the garlic saice in house. The sauce is amazing. We had chicken wings and grilled chicken. The bbq sauce on the wings was really good. Sal takes pride into each time on the menu and its relays in the meal. The Strawberry Lychee Green tea was very refreshing. The rice and corn were good. There was a belly dancer at the beginning of our session. She was really talented. The chicken was absolutely delicious - so tender and seasoned really well. I would definitely come back on my own just to have more of it. I was so excited to take Jess S. to her first Yelp event! We made it a whole day Katy outing, starting with lunch at Katy Asian Town, an afternoon soak at Spa World, and finally dinner & festivities at Mirchi Peri Peri. Shuffling in just a little late, we quickly snagged some empty seats and listened as Jando introduced the hospitable owner of this new restaurant. To take flavors and recipes of two vibrant cuisines - South African and Pakistani - and fuse them into a unique, mouthwatering menu is truly a bold endeavor, and I commend this restaurant for taking on the task! The event was excellently paced - as the dance performer began her rounds, heaping plates of food and cup after cup of thirst-quenching strawberry lychee green tea hit our tables. In fact, this Yelp event might take the cake in terms of quantity of food; we were bombarded with multiple plates of chicken wings, chicken quesadillas, grilled peri peri chicken, peri rice, and creamed corn to the point where we had to ask for to-go boxes for fear of wasting food! I enjoyed the fine balance of seasonings and flavors, but would have personally liked it saltier and spicier - the extra sauce on the table definitely helped with that. With our bellies full and spirits high, we picked up our takeout containers and Yelp swag before saying farewell to the kind folks at Mirchi Peri Peri. A culmination of cultural flavors, Mirchi Peri Peri was a fun experience! I've been meaning to try this place and this event was the wonderful opportunity to do so! We had a variety of different foods offered: rice, roasted chicken, chicken quesadilla, corn, and wings marinated in the different sauces available. All super tasty, fresh, and plentiful portions! The strawberry lychee green tea lemonade was also very refreshing. The owner was very nice and talked to everyone during the event The only thing I would say is I wish the main course (chicken) came before the sides (rice, corn). I really enjoyed the HAPI Community Event at Mirchi Peri Peri. I am always a fan of sit down events! It makes enjoying (and documenting) the food and experience much easier. I was very excited to sit with a group of my Yelp Elite buddies. Food was absolutely flowing at this event! I know there was not a single person who left hungry. Multiple plates of delicious chicken wings, creamed corn, rice, quesadillas, and rotisserie chicken were piled onto our table. What really stole the show though (which is saying a lot because there was an actual belly dancer at this event) was the strawberry lychee green tea lemonade! I couldn't get enough, and the owner made it himself. Service at the event was fantastic, bringing out food quickly and always with a smile. The owner spent time talking with each table, and he visited with my table on multiple occasions. He even brought us a free flan which was not on the menu for the night's event! Parking was plentiful. The wait to be let into the restaurant was not long. I enjoyed the free Yelp goodies. My only critique is that the bathroom could have been A LOT cleaner. There was hair clogging the sink, the toilet paper roll was sitting on the grab bar with no designated place of its own, and it just appeared dirty. Its so fun to be enjoying elite events such a this one where we can get to meet to faces and enjoy each other's company in a family style dinner. The place itself is kind of a unremarkable on the outside so its easily missed. As the even started we got the meet Sal the owner, while having a sweaty belly dancer go up and down the isles of the tables. Sal himself is a pretty cool guy. He shared with our table what business he was previously in prior to covid and how he had to pivot into the challenging world of restaurant business. He also shared about his vision for the restaurant and why he decided to tough it out in this business. He shared how long it took to come up with the recipes he's about to share with us. He also shared his two sauces that are at every table, which is his garlic sauce and a spicy sauce. Both of which are spectacular. The first item on the menu was his strawberry/lychee drink. Pretty darn good for a hot summer night. Sal states its his best drink seller currently while mango is his second. Next came to chicken wings, to be honest, this was the best dish of the night where the chew and tenderness of the wings and the bbq/garlic sauce mixes very well as flavors together. Splendid with the additional spicy and garlic aoli. Next was the chicken quesadillas. This dish was very mid has there wasn't anything exactly outstanding as it was just tortilla, chicken and cheese. Good portions, but its hard to tell if it is your regular entre size. However the table sauces absolutely lifted up this dish once you douse the quesadillas in them. Next were the sides of rice and creamed corn which people thought were mains since the next entrée didn't come out yet. These dishes are also quite mid as nothing really stood out, but given that these were suppose to be sides, its not too bad. However the split chicken came out soon after and it was very generous portion that was split with the tables. The split chicken was well cooked and the meat itself was very tender. Flavor was overall on the blander side of things but the charcoal grill flavor left on the meat was very enjoyable. Of course dousing it with garlic sauce and hot sauce made this even better. The night was spent with great company but I'm disappointed in having 3 chicken dishes for dinner tonight. I'm not complaining but I would have figured the spread would be a lil more rounded. I'm kind of obligated to give this event a 5 star since any Yelp elite is fun, complimentary to me, and I get fed. On the other hand, Mirchi Peri Peri isn't memorable in terms of food here. I like Sal and his story, but I wouldn't come back as a patron. With prices creeping higher daily, unfortunately, I would have to be more careful with my selection of places to go to. Mirchi Peri Peri wouldn't make my cut. read more

So happy to be able to attend my first sit down yelp experience. Jando & Sal were both very welcoming. We tried the wings, chicken (half), quesadillas, rice and corn. To my surprise I really enjoyed the quesadillas and corn the most. The lychee geeen tea was phenomenal I would definitely grab some to go when in the area. Side note sal makes a couple of the sauces himself. This dinner came with a show which was a nice addition. We had an amazing time at this Yelp elite event. I am so happy to celebrate Hapi- Houston Asian Pacific Islander month at Mirchi Peri Peri. From Vera, the belly dancer, to the constant flow of food, to meeting the owner and talking with him, my Thursday night was a night for the books. Check in was easy and the event started right in time. We got in the restaurant, were seated and after a brief intro, the food parade began. Waiters brought chicken wings with the most delicious sauce I have ever had. The wings were hot and very tender and juicy. I must have eaten a dozen by myself. The Quesadilla was also another hit. It was loaded with the most smoky meat, chicken. I asked the owner and found out it was marinated in Pakistani spices and that's what made it so juicy. The smoky flavor is what did it for me. We got roasted chicken and my table mates enjoyed it. I didn't eat too much of that, stuffing my face on the other stuff. My husband said it was very juicy. Some pieces could stand to cook a little longer but mostly perfect. The rice was a good stabilizer and the creamed corn was also a good balance. I really enjoyed the strawberry lychee lemonade. I drank 4 cups and probably would have done more. It was not sweet, just a hint of sweetness from the strawberry and a little sugar cane. It was neat to be Elite this night. This was a great event. We got to know more about the owner, Sal, when he stopped by our table and chatted with us. It was a surprise treat to have Vera belly dance for us. Balancing a tray of lit candles while dancing was impressive. Now for the food: yummy! I like how the chicken wings have 3 different sauces, which went well together. I really like the garlic aioli that Sal concocted. The chicken quesadillas were delicious. The half chicken was huge and very tender, but it needed some sauce added to it because it was a bit bland. The rice and corn were good too. Their strawberry lychee drink was too sweet for me so I preferred the mango lychee. Others at my table felt the opposite. read more

Ah! This event was sooooo good and I'm not just talking about the food! Coordination, set up, vibes, and food offerings were all on point! Greeted by friendly OG Jando when we arrived, we were quickly scanned in by our party passes. The event started shortly after 8pm, and everyone got to pick where they wanted to sit - and there was plenty of seating plus Yelp swag on the tables! We received a warm welcome from the owner, Sal, who is such a sweet, passionate, and proud business owner. He shared with us his best sauces and some insights about their ingredients and where they're sourced from. LET ME TELL YOU THE HOT SAUCE AND INFERNO SAUCE WERE ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MEAL! So acidic, tangy, and had a nice kick to it - holding back drool as I type this now lol. Followed by a quick sip of his refreshing strawberry lychee green tea?! Drinks and sauces are usually not stars of the show, but truly I would come back for these items alone. Now let's get into the food. Saucy chicken wings - 4/5 - the sauce on the were a mix of perfection! I only wish that they were cooked just a bit longer as I prefer my wings well done. Other than that, they were delicious! Chicken quesadillas - 5/5 - hands down, my all time favorite of the night. It's so simple but paired with their hot sauce, omg! It's just a blast of flavor and is oh so delicious, cheesy, and savory. Baked chicken - 4/5 - big and generous servings of chicken! Seasoning was also good on this. Personally I prefer chicken cut into smaller pieces (maybe separate the wing and breast) but otherwise delicious. Cream corn & rice - 5/5 - perfect sides and cooked to perfection to pair with our meal. Food was truly of abundance and so were the good vibes. Attended the first session for this eventful Yelp event. It was nice to learn the backstory and inspiration behind the menu/why Sal started. This was a first time experience of both cultures of food. We were first served a strawberry lychee green tea lemonade, and it was soooo good. The establishment alone was a bit hot, so this was cooling and refreshing. Belly dance by Vera was so exciting! I had never seen this before and she was so friendly and engaging. I loved it. The chicken quesadilla was my absolute fave entree. The sides (corn and rice) were just okay. The wings were also just okay, but the hot sauce on them was really good! The bone in chicken was seasoned good as well. Wow! Wow! Wow! Jando and Yelp Houston have done it again supporting HAPI in support of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month! The owner really filled our bellies with food that had love, sweat and tears literally poured in to every moist, flavorful bite of chicken we ate! Added bonus, I sat at the cool kids table! Overall experience was amazing! We had a belly dance show at the beginning, which was super cool to watch! The owner took the time to introduce himself and the meaning behind the name of the restaurant. At this place, they combine Pakistani and African spices together, creating the most flavorful dishes. Everything we had was phenomenal. Strawberry lychee green tea was refreshing and not overloaded with sugar. The chicken wings were SPECTACULAR. They were juicy and tender and smothered in their delicious sauces. The chicken quesadilla was huge and filling, definitely tastes better with the sauces served on the side. The red/orange sauce was tangier and spicer than the yellow sauce, which was more neutral but still extremely tasty and was the favorite sauce at our table. The combination of the two is just awesome! The creamed corn was light and not too overly sweet or heavy. I throughly enjoyed the basmati rice, as it was cooked to perfection, nothing undercooked or overcooked. Pairs super well with all the meat and sauce. Rotisserie chicken was big, and at that point, I was so full, but I still got to try it and took some home to eat for leftovers. Every chicken dish that was served wasn't dry at all! Okay Mirchi Peri Peri, we see you! This was my first seated event with the YES squad and it was a sublime experience. When Jando announced that we would be fed lots of food, he knew what he was saying because our entire table was full and oh so happy. We had the wings which were perfectly crispy with a great combination of sauces, chicken quesadillas, peri rice, peri chicken, creamed corn, and strawberry lychee tea. I would honestly come back even just for the tea, it was that good (and not too sweet). The experience was elevated by a performance from Vera, a talented belly dancer. What an awesome event!! Thank you for Jando for coming through with the BEST dinner places and it's halal, yall! Food that is blessed and nourishes the body--it doesn't get better than that!! From the delicious chicken wings with sauce, to the creamed corn and BBQ chicken and the fruity drinks-- I could not have asked for a better place to go to tonight! The strawberry and lychee drink was delicious, as was the pineapple drink! Love how the sweet fruit tastes compliment the spicy and garlic sauce. Salman, the awesome host, said that the white sauce was his creation-- a spicy garlic. I really liked it and now I wish I would have gotten some to take home. I'll have to remember to get extra when I order from here next time. And there will definitely be a next time because I know those wings are going to be calling my name soon! They had great customer service, and for me-- that goes a long way. Delicious food does not taste delicious if it's serviced without good customer service. Wow one the best events I've been to, and they didn't even have alcohol :) As it is Halal The highlights are always a course meeting with friends, love it always, but while the food at this place kicked so glad I didn't have time to eat before a lot of times at events there's not enough food to go around so I will eat in advance. There have been so many events and offers during HAPI and I love it. Katy is a far drive for me but I didn't want to miss this event at Mirchi Peri Peri. I appreciated that two sessions were offered, including one starting at 8 p.m., which allowed me to avoid rush hour traffic for the most part. I've had peri peri chicken before but I don't have it often so I was excited to experience everything Mirchi Peri Peri has to offer. Similar to the event at Uncle Chin's the other week, this was a seated affair. I sat at a table with my buddy Allen and six other Yelpies I had never met before. Along with our feast, it was a nice surprise to experience some belly dancing as we ate. Dinner and a show! My Yelp brothers and sisters have done a great job of describing all of the dishes we were given. My favorites were the wings and the creamed corn with the white sauce. Unfortunately, my side of the table didn't receive any quesadillas because they ran out. A little bit of a logistical blip on their end. If you don't have enough quesadillas for everyone to try, cut the quesadillas smaller, and then voila, everyone can try it. That was a bit of a bummer but no biggie. The amount of effort put into making this an unforgettable experience was phenomenal. Pakistani x African fusion is definitely a combo I've never heard of yet. Strawberry Lycee Lemonade right off the bat with a belly dancer weaving through the tables made this night more of a party than a tasting. The wings were indeed the best entree of the night, as claimed by Salman, the owner. They had a charred and zesty flavor that had the entire table licking their fingers and plates. From the moment I stepped into this establishment I was greeted with cheers and amazing personalities from the staff! they were so hard working and made the food with care and love. My favorite dish form they where the crispy halal wings and the flavorful rice! The idea stemmed from the owners Pakistani roots! With homemade sauces for every dish, this establishment is sure to become everyone favorite place to eat when visiting Katy! They have a creamed corn dish as a side! I goggled an entire bone of it in about 7 minutes. I'm just chatting with the girls at my table and spooning the corn onto my plate and eating as I'm chatting! Before I knew it, it was all gone! The bowl, staring at me all empty. I was like "wow, I guess I was pretty hungry!!" They have a grilled chicken packed with traditional Pakistani spices and their house tea!!! I was soo bombed that I basically missed most of it due to traffic but I am glad that I was still able to catch some of it. S/o to Jando for getting me checked in quickly so that I could get seated to chow down. I sat at a round table with some beautiful lady Yelpers. They informed me that the quesadilla was really good. So good that there wasn't any left at the table when I came. Sal, the owner, was so cool to make one for me. And when I say that has to be the best quesadilla Ive ever had!!! The cheese was so ooey gooey! The chicken and seasoning was just right. But I still dipped it into the spicy sauce for an extra kick! The grilled chicken was delicious as well. All of the staff were working hard to make sure everyone was satisfied. Sal kept checking in with each table asking for everyone's feedback. He told us that he made the green tea lychee drink himself. It was pretty refreshing. I also had the pleasure of talking to a young lady that was a guest of a fellow elite that couldn't make it. She said it was her first event. I talked to her about the YE events and tried to show her the calendar on her app but there wasn't one on her profile page. This was a really great event! The whole restaurant was shut down for us and they served it up! We hand plenty of food and it kept coming. The owner and his staff treated us very well and there was even a belly dancer there! We had chicken wings with the owners house-made garlic and spicy sauces, creamed corn, rice, quesadillas, and quartered whole chicken. My favorite were the wings!! They were amazing with his homemade sauces. I would for sure go back and have this place again and try out some different dishes. It's in the cinco ranch Katy area and there was plenty of parking. It's not a very big place but a good size. I would highly recommend this spot for some Indian -paki fusion food. read more

The food here was delicious! Absolutely loved the quesadillas, that was my favorite item of the night. The corn was a surprise hit though, I'm not a big fan of loose corn like that but I ended up serving myself quite a bit of it! The wings, bigger chicken pieces, and rice were delicious as well. I did try out both sauces that were bottled on the table, dynamite was spicy but had great flavor and the lighter green one was great as well. Oh and the tea they gave us to start with was sooooo good. Towards the end the owner was talking to us and told us about the mango tea and even brought some of cups of that for us as well. Service was fantastic overall, if im in the area I would definitely pass by to get some stuff. Also the belly dancer was great too! She interacted with people and got some involved as well.
