    Old fashioned (pre-mixed)

This was a great Tuesday night event to break up the monotony of the week, but boy I felt like I was halfway to San Antonio driving out here. Katy has a wide geographical area but Crafted Bar & Taps is located way out on FM 1463, past Katy Mills. The foods offered for the event were somewhat limited, but the things they let us try, they did well. My favorite was the boudin balls - perfectly crisp on the outside and steaming hot with boudin on the inside. Had to cut these open and let them air out so as not to burn my mouth! The pizzas were decent. The margherita pizza was tasty and had whole slices of tomato scattered throughout (and I quickly learned Jando's thoughts on this). The pepperoni pizza was good but not among the best I've had. I do appreciate the crunch of the crust at the end - more incentive to eat it rather than letting it go to waste. The whiskey shanks were a creative approach on an appetizer: pork shanks topped with bbq sauce and sprinkled with pork rind bits and avocado ranch sauce. I do feel like the pork shanks were a bit dry on the inside - I'm not sure how these were cooked but perhaps could've been cooked at a lower temperature for a little longer. I split a shank with my tablemates and a small piece was just enough for me to say I tried it and nothing more. I don't think anybody left thirsty because they kept the drinks coming throughout the night. I first tried the margarita which tasted pretty standard. I then tried the old fashioned which was pretty good considering it was premixed! Upon ordering, they would serve you a cup from their master stash wooden barrel. Lastly I tried the espresso martini - this was made to order and was great! The coffee helped give me the extra kick to make the road trip home! Partway through, they requested the use of drink tickets, which led to a brief period of confusion among Yelpers and staff. The real highlight of the night was Mel, who provided live entertainment throughout the night with her beautiful singing (she normally works as a bartender here!). The minute we heard her voice, everybody looked back in disbelief since she sounded straight out of a record track! She also took song requests and did her own little karaoke if she didn't know the words to the requests. It was also a pleasure hearing from new owner Kat during speech time. Thanks to Jando and the team at Crafted Bar & Taps for making this a great Katy event for us Elites. I wish them continued success under the new management and will keep this place in mind if I'm ever out this way again (likely coming back from Austin or San Antonio).

Good times on a Tuesday in Katy. Made the trek across town to partake of Crafted's hospitality. We were greeted with friendly and attentive staff, drinks to suit any taste bud and food that leaves you grabbing an extra slice or ball. Boudin ball that is. Out of the food options: pepperoni, margherita, whiskey shanks and boudin balls, the balls were the top favorite at our table. With 64 beers on tap and knowledgeable bartenders making cocktails, tried an old fashioned that had a cinnamon kick to it and espresso martinis, they even made sure to include the 3 coffee beans. They also had one of their bartenders singing live for us and taking requests, she's was entertaining. When I find myself on this side of town and want to experience a happy hour, watch the game or just a spot to hang out, I'll stop in at Crafted. Thank you Jando, Yelp Houston and the entire staff at Crafted Bar & Taps for the opportunity to enjoy catching up and savoring on bites and drinks.

Let me start off by saying I love Katy events! This spot is right down the street from me and I've never visited. Plenty of parking We walked right in to fresh pepperoni pizza waiting for us. It was pretty good. That was followed up by some delicious Bourdain balls and they were served hot! So good! Then I washed that down with a pretty good rum punch. More pizza came out and then we were introduced to the shanks! It was soooo delicious. It was like a rib on a stick. I know why they saved it for last. The customer service was great and they were so hospitable. I will definitely be returning!

Unfortunately, this is going to be a short review since we got there late :/ and left earlier than expected. Being in central Houston, I don't ever have much reason to venture over to Katy, but I love the area and was glad to see an event happening there. Although it was a 40 min ride, my fellow Yelpers make the troop to the events closer to my side of town so who am I to complain. By the time we arrived, everyone was situated at the tables or the bar, so we stood towards the end of the bar. The bartenders were so kind and ensured they provided us with drinks swiftly. I got a chance to catch up with a few of my fav yelpers, and despite not eating anything, the pizza looked good and folks seemed to like the boudin balls. Thank you as always to Yelp Houston, Jando, and the staff at Crafted Bar!

Such a cool spot to come and have drink here in Katy! I truly enjoyed the appetizers and margaritas that were served!! Top tier!! My favorite part about the night was my short drive home! I love it when elite is in Katy!!!!! Can't wait to take my husband here. Once I saw the waitress canning the beer, I was so impressed! Such a cool experience!

Thank you to Jando and to the owners of Crafted for putting on this event! We are locals to Katy and love this establishment! It had been awhile since we had been so it was nice to hear from the new owners and get to meet the new waitstaff along with their lovely singer/bartender! Tyler is a real gem! He definitely was able to handle the chaos and get us our drinks which was much appreciated. Everyone was very nice, and we also got to meet another great yelper at our table! It was an overall good experience and we will definitely be returning as I need to get my jalapeño popper dip fix! I will say that if they were to do a future event, a smaller group might've been better. Our table sadly missed out on the boudin balls as they ran out and had skipped our table. We were offered lots of pizza which was definitely tasty but filling. We thought maybe the food portion was finished at they passed out menus. It was a bit confusing. Then at the end they brought out amazing pork shanks which we wish we had saved more room for as they were delicious. The drink ordering was also confusing as it took awhile to get drinks and then it switched to drink tickets. However, the drinks were great! Overall a generous selection and a good sampling of what they offer.

This event was great and even better since it was close to home. The staff were all very friendly, patient and talented. One of their bartenders was singing which made the vibes even better. The establishment was really clean. The decor, signs, and taps all added some flavor to how it all flowed and looked. Really cool place, not huge but more than enough room to have a super chill night to enjoy some drinks, food, family and sports. The food was spot on, the whiskey shank and boudin balls were delicious. The menu had really good options as well. They have over 62 different beer taps to pick from. I'm sure you will be able to find something you like. They have a full bar so enjoying some drinks will not be an issue at all. Thank you Yelp for the event and Crafted Bar & Taps for making it happen. This was a fun one!

Thank you Yelp Houston for setting up this event and an even bigger thank you to the Crafted team for hosting us! The owner was there and she was serving drinks and making her rounds to speak with all of us personally. I think that the chill and family friendly vibe of this place really comes from the top down. Great owner and great staff. The food was also really good! One of my favorite bites was the whiskey shank, a very tender and juicy pork shank that is glazed in their slightly sweet whiskey sauce. Other highlights include the boudin balls and pizza, both items that I would reach for again. They offer a large variety of beers on tap and they have a full bar as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this event hosted by Crafted Bar and Taps. The food was excellent. We were greeted with tasty pepperoni pizza and Margherita Pizza slices, boudin balls, and a delicious whiskey glazed pork shank. The staff was courteous and helpful, always being conversational and polite. We later found out that the restaurant was woman owned. That's always a nice feature as Kat is a very knowledgeable bartender and businesswoman. One of the bartenders provided entertainment by singing for us. Her voice was absolutely heavenly. The place is conveniently located off I-10 with plenty of free parking. Great happy hour specials and lots of drink offerings. Stop by and support this amazing little gem.

Thank you Yelp and the Crafted Bar & Tap for friendly and warm service. The space was small but quite cozy for a bar setting! To be honest, the night started a bit hectic - guests were lined up waiting outside before being let in, unsure of what to do next. The food was served in waves, so that meant some people got food, and some never got to try certain dishes. As a suggestion for a better structured event, I would put a set of dishes out all at once or at least have a designated location for food, and instead have guests wait in line for food, to cut down on service staff and instead focus on letting the quality of food shine. With that being said, I loved the food. The boudin balls were my absolute favorite dish of the night. Savory and had a satisfying crisp to the exterior, which paired nicely with the aoli that was served on the side. The whiskey shanks were filling and moist - a sign of an excellent cooked pork shank is if the meat was falling off the bone, which it certainly delivered.

Food and vibes were great! We enjoyed the pizzas, boudin balls, and whiskey shanks. There was an issue with food coming out slowly in the middle, but that's totally understandable for the big turnout of people! By the end of the night, there was more than enough food to go around! The live singer (who was one of their bartenders) was amazing!!! It was a great first yelp elite event for me, and I'll definitely be back as a customer!

Crafted Bar & Tap holds true to a small bar scene. The venue has access to over 50 Taps of your choice ( if it matters). Seating is a little bit more limited spacing, so plan accordingly. The staff were very interactive and friendly. Many of them stopped by our tables to speak to us and made lots of conversation. Pros: - A good spread of bar food for the event (pizza, boudin bals, and pork whiskey shank). - Pizza (pepperoni and margarita) were great! Felt fresh and moist. - Whiskey Shank: amazing flavors and cooked very well! The flavor profile reminds me of a honey barbecue. The green sauce was visually appealing but flavor-wise, seemed unnecessary because it didn't seem to add much value to the pre-existing flavor profile. But I loved how generous the venue was with the pork shank portions! Cons: - Logistics for food could have been much better. Food took too long to get started.... and when it did, there was not enough initially. We had to wait quite a bit longer, a bit excessively long given that the starters were pizza. All in all, very thankful to the staff with their generosity and hospitality.

First thank you thank you thank you for something in Katy!! While I appreciate all opportunities provided it was nice having something closer to home. The event was very smooth. We were easily able to grab our name tags and find a spot to mingle with other elites. The food items spaced out allowed for time to not only interact with each other and staff but also appreciated the cocktails as well. All the employees were engaging and telling us their favs on the menu. The pork shanks were a great feature since the sauce is made in house. Looking forward to supporting in the future!

Not even knowing I was going to her establishment. Thy was incredible. She helped me on the popular drink menu between the two choices we had and also something to snack on because I was incredibly hungry after leaving my meeting. I chose the blueberry blush. I had the full sweetness, with no eyes but shaking. Topped off with honey boba and the boba that it came with. **I give the tea a 9/10. It was not overly sweet and the blueberry taste was certainly present but not too powerful. It's definitely a beverage I could see myself drinking daily. My niece actually LOVED it and she's only 10 months. I also had the regular karate chicken. Level 3 spice with basil. The chicken was a solid 10. Point. Blank. Period. It's what you would want from Korean chicken. It was crispy but tender. Spicy, but not unbearable. It also came with sauces if you'd like and I chose the sweet chili. The sweet chili itself was incredibly delicious. But paired with the chicken?? So so yummy. The chicken on its own is a 10 but this sweet chili sauce absolutely elevated it. Then...as I was taking pictures... BOOM! SPLASHHHH...boba went a'flyin' everywhere on the floor. Yay me. I sure know how to stick a landing. Perfect 10! I informed Thy, and without hesitation she came with a broom and a mop. And still had a smaller face. She even offered to make me another one even though the splash was completely my fault. I almost wanted to tear up in gratitude. Truly. I was a bit overwhelmed this morning and that small act of kindness was so appreciated. All in all, I had a wonderful time as I sat there and ate and relax with my baby niece. This place is awesome with wonderful customer experience as well. I will certainly be back! Thank you so much, Jandoooooo and the Yelp Houston team. A much needed and delicious break in the day.

Thanks to Lou for organizing an awesome UYE. We had a great time. It was a nice turnout where we…read moregot to try individual hotpot. We had a full house and it was more comfortable to have the whole place to ourselves. The staff were very attentive and helpful to each table. Easy to order from their menu and services were pretty quick. For some, it was their first time trying hotpot so I hope they enjoyed this new experience. Hot pot is always fun with a group of friends. I sat with some of my good friends, Jason, James, and Tri. After dinner, we got to hangout with each other a bit more. Also got the chance to meet the new Houston CM, Jando. What a great night to see some old friends! Looking forward to the next one.

6 years ago I went to my first UYE. It was my first Yelp experience ever. It was Lou's event…read more This event was almost to the day of that yelp-iversary. In his usual fashion, Lou brought culture, fellowship, and food together for a great evening out. There were a few faces I was familiar with, and some new ones as well. We had an opportunity to hear from the store manager, another guest was someone involved in the community, and the new CM joined us for the event too. A good few of the OG group came out, and we had a great time. This particular event, we weren't able to get everything in, so we had dinner and dessert. We didn't get a chance to hit the market. There will be another event in March if you're interested in checking it out

Congrats to Boat People SOS-Houston for the 7th Annual Banh Mi Cookoff Fundraiser. Great banh mi sandwich samples provided by Blood Bros BBQ, AtCha on Bellaire Blvd, Kau Ba in Montrose area, Saigon Hustle in the Garden Oaks community, The Pho Fix, Vina Deli in Spring, Kim Son Restaurant, Wokker HTX and Xin Chao Restaurant (a modern Vietnamese restaurant by Christine Ha & Tony J Nguyen). I remember it used to elbow to elbow during the 2nd hour of Banh Mi Cookoff event at Chapman & Kirby previously. This year is a lot more room to roam around. Much better and comfortable. Me and my foodie friend went around to sample every banh mi one time. Then, went back to try those we want to vote on. After some sweet teas, we were stuffed. Another great improvement was the ticketing process. Signed up on CauseVox and paying $40 with no upfront fees. I received the eTicket via email. I bought 2 tickets, my friend got her email, too. Traffic from Chinatown was usual busy around this area and I parked at an empty lot across the street for $20 plus tax. Overall, it was a great event. We vowed to come back next year.
