With a weary soul and aching body I went for a 90 minute aromatherapy massage. Upon climbing the massage table, ( that can fit the over 6 ft) was melted by an assortment of hot stones placed strategically over my newly embalmed body (I was wrapped up in heated towels, a nurturing experience on a cold day!).
My journey into lucid euphoria began with more hot stones, gliding over neck, shoulder and back muscles. I felt a distinct softening sensation, not easily put into words, where it seemed rigid muscles remembered how to relax again?
A blend of essential oils, based on a pre-massage chat/questionaire, were chosen for therapeutic benefit. I'm not big on pretty smells but this skillful selection perfused deep into my skin and lasted for hours.
By the time we reached lower legs and feet, I was teetering on the edge, between awake and asleep. Thats the sensation I came for, the highlight of my visit, as best as I can remember (or maybe I just dreamed that..lol ?).
The supine finish was an inhalation of something nice?? Followed by the resonating of a tibetan singing bowl, to bring me back to the conscoius world...a nice touch.
After collecting myself off the table, glanced in the mirror to see a very blissed out reflection. I took it easy for the rest of the day.
If you are looking for the pain-and-suffering type massage, complete with take home bruises, this is not it ! While I had a few paining moments to work through, the experience seemed to focus on letting the muscles relax, rather than forcing them. Works for me! read more
