A small boutique winery that's set upon a hillside amongst a myriad of other wineries sprawled throughout the Yarra Valley. Hanrahan Vineyard is very special and intimate. On the day that we popped in unexpectedly -- it was next to another winery we had visited -- the owner (Bev) was giving an introduction and background of her winery to a small group of wine fanciers. Fortunately, we arrived at the perfect time to hear her story, and get a few samplings of her hand-picked wines. Her wines are definitely on the higher-end (A$30+), but there's a sincerity and flavor to what is being produced. There's a story to Bev's life and how this dream of her's has come to fruition, and the way she decides what grapes to use, and the like; however, that's for something for people to experience in-person -- so take a day trip or weekend getaway and visit Hanrahan Vineyard. I can't wait to revisit this charmer...! read more
