I guess Australians don't make as much use of Yelp as Americans do, so I get to be the first to…read morereview this walking tour on Yelp. I've not had the best experiences with these sorts of tours in the past, but this one knocked it out of the park. Lets start by saying that this tour is aimed towards a specific type of person, the type of person who loves chocolate. Of which I happen to be one, and so does the girlfriend. So whilst visiting Australia we decided to undertake the Melbourne's Chocolate Wonderland tour (weekend edition). We went to numerous establishments in Melbourne's CBD area: Cacao Lab (personal fave - try the Salted Caramel Drinking Chocolate), Alison Nelsons New York Chocolate Bar, Koko Black, Haigh's and Ganache. All excellent establishments in their own right. Come hungry and pack your sweet tooth because you will eat at least 10-13 pieces of chocolate and small baked goods (cake, brownies and similar). We also stopped at Kirks wine bar and had a nice glass of Shiraz and a dark truffle from Ganache in addition to the above. The tour was very good overall and started with some info on the chocolate making process and an introduction to Daintree Estates (an Aussie Cocao producer & Chocolatier - one of the better dark chocolate bars I've ever had) , went over the history on the various establishments and had a few of the managers/clerks stop by and chat for a bit providing similar tidbits of info. I would say that if you are looking to make the most of this sort of tour I'd say bring a significant other or friends, and if you are really trying to maximize you may want to consider doing the weekday tour since the businesses will be less busy/crowded. You could also tell the tour guide's were familiar with the process and establishments and generally enjoyed working with people, so kudos to them.

The Private Tour Guide - Wine touring in the Yarra Valley is my specialty. Working with the winemakers and having a great rapport with all the operators.

GREAT OCEAN ROAD/ 12 APOSTLE TOUR. "THE PRIVATE TOUR…read moreGUIDE.COM" RATHER than subject ourselves to a 30 to 50 passenger tour bus , we chose an individual tour, just for the two of us. Our thoughts were we could stop as long as we wanted, take photos when we wanted, eat when we wanted, use the rest room when we wanted and, in general, do our own thing, not dependent on anyone else. It was a great choice! Our tour guide, Simon, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and other parts of the world we had visited. Our tour was 12 hours and throughout this entire time we never got bored, lacked for conversation or tired of the incredible scenery. Included in the tour were an early stop for coffee and pastries, a stop for lunch and a stop for ice cream. We requested an additional stop at a golf course, whose greens were covered with kangaroos I might add, so we could buy logo merchandise with the course's kangaroo logo. Yes, I know I didn't play the course so it's kind of cheating but it's thousands of miles away. We were promised and Koalas and, although not near as plentiful as the yellow highway signs would have you believe, we did find a few. The Parrots were hungry as you can see from the photos. Koalas are invisible to I-phones. We returned to Melbourne at the appointed time, just after rush hour, tired but incredibly pleased with our day, our guide and the way we toured the Great Ocean Road. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended!

We spent three days with the company, doing a wine/brewery tour, touring the city of Melbourne and seeing the penguins, plus touring the great ocean road. The tour was everything we could have hoped for and more.

We had 31 tourists in our group, but it seemed smaller. He gave us time to take photos, but didn't make photos the overwhelming reason for our tour. Instead, he gave us a real sense of the city. Rian kept up our pace making sure we were all safe crossing streets. I would highly recommend this tour.

Sam gave us a lot of history and background to his city. Some points of interest visited were: - Old Melbourne Gaol, a former prison where Ned Kelly (a bushranger who was considered both a hero and a villain) was hung, and it's now part of RMIT University and a museum - Princess Theater, where a seat is always left unoccupied in honor of Frederick Federici, and the theater is supposedly haunted by his ghost - Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in Australia and filled with cheap eats - Federation Square, a large public space great for televising live sporting events as well as for rioting - Flinders Station, the largest and busiest metro station in Melbourne - various alleyways that have cute cafés and restaurants that are prefect for bunch and lunch - street art that's legal at some alleyways
