I live in one of the upstairs units and about a year ago I noticed coloring on the bedroom ceiling. I didn't think much of it because I remembered I was told my roof was in pretty good shape. When I eventually went up to take a look I didn't see evident spots of leaking but I saw the roof needed some attention badly, plus I knew my gutters needed replacing. I contacted a few roofers to come give estimates and got different opinions on how to address. A few I felt would only bandage the situation. I need a fix that would last at least a few years. Mr. Marshall came by on a Wednesday and we discussed the options I had received and he gave a thoughtful explanation and quoted me a fair price. He also scheduled for early Monday morning. He called me Thursday afternoon because his crew had finished a job early and came right over. His crew removed all debris and aluminum coated my roof all before the next rain which came late Friday afternoon. I am extremely pleased with the job done and I have a warranty!!!

They came out, provided quotes, but were not licensed with the state. Jean Paul responded with a price and what was included. After a little back and forth, I asked him to inspect the job in person, which he did. He confirmed his price, and submitted an official quote. I was able to obtain our permit, HOA approval, verify JPQ Construction and Jean Paul were both licensed with Maryland state, as well verify the company's liability insurance. Other than a small hiccup with the start date due to not contacting Miss Utility, this project went really well. Jean Paul and his team are really nice to work with, did great work, and insures his work. We will work with him again!

SVC Homes performed the renovation of our bungalow in Brookland. Their bid was also much more…read moreaffordable than the other two bids. The work included converting the front porch into a sunroom, extending our rear breakfast room with all glass enclosure, remodeling our main level bathroom, removing our chimney and converting to high efficiency boiler and HWH. The biggest part of the job was digging down ~2ft, with new underpinning and slab, new plumbing, electrical, framing, etc, and converting our full unfinished basement into a legal 2 bedroom, 1 bath accessory apartment with two private entrances. They also did all the exterior work, including stairways and stairwells, stonework, and railings. Neighbors and random pedestrians have stopped me in the yard to compliment me on the work they have done. I am a mechanical engineer with a focus on structure, so I am very particular about certain details, and I was pleased to see that he was easy to work with in terms of doing things a certain way, and also very creative when coming up with a solution when a challenge would present itself. And there will be many challenges during construction. I also performed some of the work myself, flooring, kitchen installation, trim work, painting and of course I got in over my head with some things. (It's difficult to get things done when you have two kids and a full time job) But Sandro was very understanding. He would advise me on standard industry practice, and if I needed help he would give me a very reasonable quote on helping me finish. He was always maintaining contact, and is very organized when it comes to payments and schedule. His guys are very skilled, clean, and dedicated hard workers. They are very kind, and easy to work with if you are a DIYer. This was the 2nd phase of renovation to our house. We learned a lot of lessons from the first phase when it comes to a good general contractor. Price, quality, communication, schedule, organization, and creativity are all important aspects of the job, and SVC Homes gets 5 stars in all categories.
