This full service travel center is located on Hwy 95 Westbound at the Canada/US border and houses…read morethe Woodstock Duty Free store, Maritime Exchange currency counter, Go Food snack bar, and clean restrooms. The duty free store here offers liquor, tobacco, beer, jewelry, watches, Swiss Army knives, fragrances, snacks, candy, Canada souvenirs, collectibles, apparel, and other gifts. The selection here is better than the Duty Free Americas in nearby Houlton ME and the prices are pretty good. They carry cases of Moosehead Canadian Beer and my favorite Canadian Maple Fudge, woo-hoo!! The currency exchange counter offers competitive exchange rates to the banks in the Woodstock area. The Go Food counter offers beverages, cereals, baked goods, sandwiches, and ice cream bars. This store caters to travelers heading west from Canada into the US. If you are a US citizen, you have to declare your purchases here when you reenter the US. Okay so I just entered Canada from the US and NEEDED CANADIAN MONEY!!! What do I do next with my US MONEY??? Instead of trying to find a bank in Woodstock, NB, I got off at the first exit and headed back west on Highway 95 towards the US border so I could visit the Maritime Exchange to exchange my US Dollars to Canadian Dollars and Loonies. However, I exited the travel plaza and had to cross the highway and GO THROUGH CANADIAN CUSTOMS AGAIN. I told the agent I had entered Canada about 45 minutes before and I just visited the westbound store to exchange currency only. I was grilled a bit and let through again. I knew I was not allowed to purchase duty free items from the store since I was not going back to the US. Bummer man, because this store had some really cool sh-t! But I did find the same products in the local stores. I had to pay the 13% HST for my Canadian Maple Fudge candies, but I couldn't resist.

Hannaford Supermarket - A look down an aisle

Visiting Old Town Hannaford is painful in many ways, all of which imply a negative leadership or…read morecorporate attitude towards customers. Some things that make patronizing this business a poor experience: -Navigating the aisles and accessing food is CHALLENGING due to pallets waiting to be stocked and the stockers blocking the aisles and/or access to products. It is rare for them to notice customers trying to get to products. This is true at peak hours and in high traffic aisles (dairy case). One might surmise that they don't care. -There is no easy way to get help, especially help finding things. There is no customer service desk. Stockers are not helpful beyond saying " I think that might be in aisle 5". The Website is not accurate. -The pharmacy is SLOW. It is not uncommon for you to be ignored at the window while staff chats. The pharmacy also closes mid-afternoon, apparently for lunch. Imagine the implications for some people.... -Check out lines are long, long, long. Checkers are often slow. -When I took the opportunity to tell the store manager about the difficulty I had accessing products because of pallets blocking access he said "That ain't gonna change". No empathy, no apology, nothing.

Pharmacy is terrible in all respects. Unreliable, uninformative, lazy (as in "we don't order…read morerefills" despite being in the Refills Made Simple (RMS) program), terrible user experience on the pharmacy website, auto-filling controlled sleep med without me enrolling it in RMS while not auto-filling drugs I've enrolled numerous time both online and in person, drugs are rarely ready when they're supposed to be and they often wait until you arrive to fill them; RMS caller bot says they will call if there are changes to your meds but they never do (2.5 years in!), caller bot also rarely calls when RMS refills are ready despite saying they will we only get called when we're LATE picking up drugs they never told us were ready... It's been very difficult to get my list of allergies (most of which are ANAPHYLAXIS) right. There's probably more I'm forgetting. Attempts to contact the parent company about issues lead nowhere. We just don't know where else to go. So many local (Old Town/Orono/Bangor/Veazie) pharmacies have really bad reviews.
