That being said: we stopped here *several* times over the course of the weekend, and they always had exactly what we were looking for (fresh fruit! kombucha! pain meds! gatorade in fun flavors!). And, actually, I was really impressed with the quantity of not just vegetarian but vegan brands they carry! The parking lot is a little chaotic, and the store is pretty run down and grimey. I just brought my own bag, carried my stuff around in it, then cashed myself out to keep to limited touching of surfaces.

What was once Lounsbury's in East Millinocket is now Ellis Market. They have made amazing upgrades…read moreand expanded the store. The locals no longer need to go to Millinocket for groceries. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The store Is clean and follows Covid guidelines. The person bagging your groceries will bring them to you car! The parking lot has also been expanded. If you need anything on your way to Baxter State Park, make a stop at Ellis Market on your way!

The people working here are friendly and they carry a fair variety of items. They have a team of butchers and two display cases, so there is quite a focus on meats. The meat prices tend to be a bit higher than the supermarket, though not always, and I assume the quality is higher also. They usually have some marked-down meats I sometimes avail myself of also. They even have frozen chicken hearts, gizzards and livers, the last of which I sometimes buy for myself and our cats (my wife can't stand liver). They have excellent bakery items, store-made take home meals, a fair variety of produce, drinks, snacks - well, you get the idea. They have a loyalty program that, since I do the bulk of my shopping elsewhere, doesn't result in many five-dollar off rewards, but it also gives me access to their weekly coupons. The grocery items are usually a bit higher than the supermarkets, which have an increased volume of sales, but perfectly reasonable , nowhere near convenience store pricing. Plus you are supporting a local business. There are also gas pumps off to the side if you want to get that done while you are there.
