I did a fair amount of research via Yelp, but found Good Dog via Instagram. We met Erik and Teal for "testing" at their facilitating near the Alemany Market, and phew!, Oban passed. The facility is spacious, clean, and has an indoor and outdoor area. We started Oban with 3 days a week playcare. He is picked up between 10-11am and home between 4-5pm. He is exhausted by the time he gets home and we don't experience the witching hour that we do when he is home all day. Unlike off-leash plays at the beach, we are not concerned that Oban will bring home lbs of sand or worse off run away. You can tell that Teal, Erik, and Yvonne all love dogs and they take great care of all of the pups. Sometimes, our Oban sits and stares at the door waiting for one of them to come through and take him away to his happy place. We don't know whether to have hurt feelings, or feel joy because he is so happy to go there. When we were finally able to travel (COVID and all) we boarded Oban with Teal and Erik. They sent us daily pictures and updates about his well-being, and what he was doing. These people just plain love dogs and treat them well.

We are so glad he's happy when he's there. I wish there was another star so I could give Dan Perata Training six stars! They're simply THE BEST! We went through two other trainers before we found Dan and his team, and without disparaging the other trainers (they were somewhat effective) I will say the Perata difference was night and day. Within a couple of weeks our five-month old puppy was walking on a leash, reacting less to other dogs in public, and gentle with kids. After a couple more weeks, he was performing recall, heeling with the kids, and almost totally ignoring other dogs. We are so proud to take him in public and people can hardly believe he's only six months old. Our goal is for him to work as a service dog and Dan has helped us get him to public places and the hospital so he'll be ready. I seriously can't say enough good things! The facility is spacious and clean and set up well for different training scenarios. The staff are all friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Training methods are positive reinforcement and consistency without using food as "bribes". We enjoy being part of the training as the whole family learns right along with our dog.
