Chris, the treasurer, is helping us to sort out the current costs of what we paid so that we can resubmit it to our insurance adjuster. One of my main concerns are the workers who are in my home, whether there are background checks and this is when his whole demeanor changed dancing around the subject. I've worked with many trades in the past, never having this reaction when asked, very telling... He proceeded to tell me that he uses subcontractors not even in house people, doesn't do much work himself but will ck in on the crews which essentially is a project manager, not what I'm looking for and was not forthcoming with when initially asked before coming out. I find these basic questions not warranting such uncomfortable energy shift on his part. He also overly used religious quips during communications, like I'm a god bearing man, have a blessed day, as if it was a tool for marketing or manipulation to not question him or to shut me down. It was perplexing how this conversation turned south on his part quickly needing to ask him to leave only to be told what a "Horrible" person I was, confirming it was the right move. I should have followed my gut in the first place bc it is very hard to find many reviews anywhere despite he said several times he has all 5 star reviews. Unfortunately after he left is when I dug a little deeper finding some not so nice reviews of taking deposits then not coming back, starting jobs then not finishing or taking a long time to come back, that he's a con artist and hires "illegal subcontractors." These aren't my reviews, see for yourself by googling: fortune contracting, largo fl complaints. Obviously I can't say what his work is like but I see so many people on here or hear of contractor issues from friends that you need to follow your gut and even then that's not enough sometimes.

Chris was quick to visit our property for the estimate and giving ideas on a few suggested changes. We gave him the job and his backlog was modest starting it within a week. In three days time the old system was down & discarded and new complete full perimeter gutter system with 6 downspouts was installed. The gutters look great, have improved the homes appearance and we are very pleased with his work and the final product. I would definitely recommend giving Chris from Clark Aluminum a call for any gutter & downspout related needs in the southern Pinellas County area! I liked that he was an owner operator who was actually doing the work so planned to go with him. Then his contract showed up.... in non-editable PDF form and was extremely lopsided: $200/day late fee, he can quit the job anytime but I couldn't, warranty was expressly disavowed, not responsible for breakage, etc. As a tip, if you decide to move forward with him, make sure you check his insurance policy. If I read the indemnities section correctly (which is difficult), his liability is capped at whatever insurance he carries. That means that if a worker falls off your roof and sues you in excess of his insurance, you're on the hook, even if they are negligent. When I tried to make a more reasonable agreement and align his written word to his spoken word, he declined the job. Guessing he's had some bad experiences and over-reacted.

However, the prep work to level out my floor before installing the laminate was almost non-existent. As a result, he was in and out of the job in only (2) days. That meant that most of the areas that should have been leveled, of course were not. My floor now has many spots where the floor in noisy and sinks down when it is stepped on. Since concrete floors notoriously need leveling, I was surprised that he did not take the time to do the proper prep work. In spite of NOT doing the proper leveling / prep work he did charge me hundreds of ($) above our agreed upon price for the "add'l material". To make matters worse, of all of the similar floor installations that I have walked on, this is the ONLY job that is so noticeably poorly installed.
