His expertise in his field is impressive; he promptly informs me if any issues arise, and we discuss the best solutions that adhere to code. On several occasions, he, our structural engineer, and I were all on the phone to ensure that the work complied with Provo City code. Initially, I only planned to complete the walkout, but I was so impressed with their work that I also hired them to install an awning, extend the backyard concrete, and cut another window for the basement with a window well. Their speed and workmanship are commendable. When it came to selecting materials, such as the white aluminum interlocking shingles, Malakai took the initiative to research and locate this material, even traveling all the way to Salt Lake City to get it, as nearby warehouses didn't carry it. I truly appreciate that he went the extra mile not just in this instance but in all that he and his team do. Malakai and his team are my go-to first for any concrete work. Their pricing is comparable to the market, but the value you get out of it is more. The fact that I moved from a single project to multiple ones speaks volumes about my satisfaction with his work. Mr. Kioa performed highly satisfactory concrete work to replace my driveway. However there are two issues that prevent me from giving him or his business a positive review. During the demolition of my existing driveway, substantial damage to my underground sprinkling system occurred. Mr. Kioa said that he could repair the damage, but at an additional charge that we both agreed upon. He was unable to repair the damage, and I had to hire a landscape contractor to do the repairs that ended up costing many thousands of dollars due to Mr. Kioa's lack of competence in this sort of work. He allowed significant dirt and debris to enter the sprinkler lines which eventually clogged and damaged numerous valves in the system which had to be dug up and replaced. Then when I gave Mr Kioa my final payment, I made an error and over paid him by $400. Granted it was my error. I'm elderly and have confusion and mild dementia issues that led me to make the error. When I contacted Mr. Kioa the following day, he said that he understood and would pay back the $400. So far, several months later, he has failed to do this despite numerous promises that he would refund the overpayment. He has repeatedly made one excuse after another, and still has not found a way to honor his commitment. If Mr Kioa or anyone doubts the truthfulness of my statement and review, I have saved an entire thread of text messages that will verify everything I have described in this review. I have hesitated to post this review out of concern that Mr. Kioa will now refuse to fulfill the promise he made in May to return the overpayment. At this point in time and despite numerous requests from me and promises of payment from Mr. Kioa, unfortunately I have decided that he will not live up to his commitment and will never pay me what he frequently agreed that he owes. I cannot continue to trust is word.

It took him time to teach a pair of helpless (hopeless?) homeowners to be a bit more educated about how sprinkler systems work. But he was extremely willing to teach and kind about it. What makes me praise this man is that he answered a call that was posted to a public community forum. He could as well have given us some bogus issues and charge us for it. Instead, he presented himself to be a fantastic member of our community when he performed an unscheduled, same-day leak check. I'm not advertising he does this on a regular basis but he did so for us and we are grateful to the honest service he gave us on short notice.
