These are all in an enclosed space for little ones to play safely. The older kids are catered for with a zip wire and a tyre swing, as well as a footbal court. There are toilets that are clean and the park is kept clean too, plus there's loads of free parking. It's open all year round too. There isn't anywhere to buy food and drink but it is a great place for a picnic, so bring your own instead. Something worth noting is that it's also a very popular dog walking area so if your children are scared of dogs, just be aware. Most dog owners are great but when we visited there were a coupe of great hulking dogs that took a dislike to each other and both were off their leads. One owner obviously had no control over his dog either. It all ended safely, but there was a lot of baking and snarling, and that was just the owners, and my daughter didn't like it at all.

I think that the park is kept well and always seems to be clean and tidy. There are even some toilets in case you get caught short. It is a great park to bring a picnic and the kids on a nice sunny day. It is also a great place to bring dogs and seems to be very popular for dog walkers. This is a really nice park and it is definitely worth a visit if you have kids, dogs or just generally want to view some greenery instead of the city traffic!

There's an under 5's play area that has a tunnel, play house, play kitchen and a really cool ball pit. Not only that, but there are three slides, climbing frames, padded bits to hit and tunnels to crawl through in the air. The older play bit has a gigantic blue slide that is really fast, as well as a football pitch with netting, two trampolines to bounce away on, and that's just for starters. It is possible to lose your child for a good few minutes amongst the maze of places. They've now also added some little tikes cars to zoom round in (beware of toddler tantrums as there are only three) and a couple of small rides at £1 a go as well as air hockey. For parents, there is a great cafe that stocks a wide range of food from the usual burgers etc to Hipp Organic goodies. I can vouch for the hot chocolate and cakes-very tasty. On the counter at reception are also complimentary newspapers and magazines to read whilst your children go mad, though they have to be returned for others to enjoy after you. It's good value and offers toddler specials on weekday mornings during term time which are £3.50 - £3.65 (including parent/guardian) between Monday-Friday entry between 9.30am and Midday. The bad thigs are: It can get REALLY busy at peak times like after school, during holidays and at weekends and there are usually LOADS of birthday parties going on. Parking at busy times can also be a bit of a nightmare. At peak times it's limited to a 2 hour visit, although I don't see this as a problem. We're usually ready to leave after a couple of hours anyway. All in all though, a great way to spend a couple of hours and for kids to expend some energy.

There are different play areas to suit different ages and tastes. Babies and very small ones can have mum and dad nearby with them in their own low-level area, kitted out with soft-play items, and small slides. Older toddlers and big boys and girls can run riot around the rest of the area clambering, exploring, tumbling, and swinging. The deep ball pool is a great place to hide while someone else tries to seek. Or you could go on a sortie to find foam balls to fire at targets from an air-power cannon. Have a conversation with the Tube-O-Phone, why dontcha? A netted area is set aside for small-scale football matches, and a huge colourful, wavy slide sits against the far wall. Food? A cafe offers snacks and meals, and hot and cold drinks. Skip the healthy options and fill up on chips and baked beans. Active kids need their carbs!

Alternativly you can drive around to there which is much quicker. You first see a a small childrens playground and there are a few pinic benches there. Then there is a shop which sells fresh barn eggs and all of your snacks. Also all of your merchandise.Animal food is there to buy to. Then you come into the courtyard and there are goats infront of you and to your left are ponies and chickens. You then move into the farm a bit and there are loads of cows where you can feed an there are chickens that you can feed. Thats about it. Then there is the walkway to the main site There is plenty parking at the park and the farm. Parking is also free. There is no bus link or anything like that, that takes you directly to the park or farm. To get to the park take a bus and get off on the main road and its a short walk from there (sorry I cant be anymore accurate) Its free to get in and drinks and snacks cheap and animal food is 15p. ***** Suitable for toddlers and very young children and it will only pass an hour away if you decide to only visit the farm. A no no if you are looking for a good day out. *IMPORTANT :: This review is about the farm not the main site. This farm may not appeal to older children but if you go to Sandwell valley park. Well, there are two farms: Sandwell Park Farm and Forge Mill Farm (worthy of reviews in their own right). Then there is the nature reserve and RSPB bird reserve. There's an awesome adventure playground and a Close to the Edge aerial assault course (which looks, frankly, terrifying). I love how there is a little vintage double decker bus that gives rides around the showground area. Last time I was there, a guy was training an owl and doing a bit of an impromptu falconry demonstration. The woodland areas are beautiful and very peaceful to walk around, although I still get spooked out by the stories of the Sandwell Valley witches and ghost monks that I got told when I was a kid!

Its proximity to the motorway and sprawl of West Brom make the park even more impressive. There is a large kids play area, with some really cool rides and climbing frames. There is an outdoor gym for grown ups, as well as a climbing wall and basketball courts. There is an impressive entrance gate and war memorial located towards the top of the park. There is a huge lake, which is nice to walk round on a lovely summer's day, and plenty of green space so that you don't feel all crammed in like sardines. I kick a ball round here with a couple of friends once a month, and it's one of the nicest places in West Brom. Kids also have a large play area with swings and facilities suited for young small children. A great event every year is the bonfire display during guy forks night. It's super for families, free to get in, and lots of entertainment and food on the fields surrounding areas. I'd recommend visiting to anyone, if you can't make the fireworks and bonfire spectacular, then a stroll or footie game here is well worth it.

This often "overlooked" green space in the City is actually one of my favourites. Located behind…read morethe new Library, it's not a huge space, but is well cared for and has lots of seating available. As Carl has already said, don't expect Central Park. It's a lovely green space surrounded by a path and a range of trees with a well kept "lawn" area in the middle, but that's it. There isn't a playpark for the kids or borders filled with colourful flowers, but it's still a nice space to take your lunch or grab a five minute breather from the hustle and bustle of the City. I'm not sure that all that many people know it's there, so I would class it as one of the hidden gems of the City Centre. It has lots of bins, so there is always minimal litter (adding to the serenity of the space) and there is always a quiet spot to sit and contemplate. If you ever find yourself by the Library and you've got five mins, why not pop on in through one of the arches and transport yourself away for a few in Birmingham's lovely City Centre Gardens?

Hidden away from the main drag and hustle & bustle of of the city lies a small patch of…read moretranquillity. Admittedly it is certainly not the largest or the most grandiose of Birmingham's parks, but it is probably the most central. It is for this reason that that I frequent City Centre Gardens. Don't expect swings or long walks through fields, if you're expecting Birmingham's answer to New York's 'Central Park', you will be sorely disappointed. City Centre Gardens is merely a plot of grass surrounded by shrubbery a few trees on the borders. I would talk more about the plant life but I'm afraid it's not my strong point of knowledge. There are plenty of benches dotted around and a bandstand in the middle. Although I don't think the latter gets much use. What makes the Gardens so useful is when one has a picnic or prefers to get a 'meal deal' than heading for a sit down lunch. City Centre Gardens offers a quiet space in central surroundings. Even when the much loved and hated 'Frankfurt Christmas Market', one can escape the crowds and relax in the relative quietness, even though it's situated directly behind Birmingham's new central library. Whilst Birmingham has 571 parks, 3,500 hectares of public accessible space and 250 miles of urban brooks and streams, I do find the can be a lack of open green space in the centre. The cathedral grounds or 'Pigeon Park' (as it's affectionately known) gets very busy, and feels more like a throughfare; with people walking in all directions to and from Snow Hill station and Colmore Row. If like me, you feel to old to hang around with the emo kids in Pigeon Park these days, I suggest walking down to the back of the library. It's quieter, prettier and the grass is better maintained (as it's not trodden on so much).
