We love this place so much! First off, the price can't be beat--only $10.00 to enter. We come here every time we visit. The kids have a blast! They offer a little bit of everything, and all my kids, from the younger ones to my 10-year-old, love coming here to play, craft, and more.

Things I love about this museum: Lots for young children to do Clean and tidy, thanks to the friendly staff Lots of space to move around However, the new "science" addition where they talk about "race" was extremely disturbing. So much focus was on Black slaves, but nothing was mentioned about the other races that were slaves in America ie. Chinese, Irish, Slavs, Natives, etc.. Europeans really had nothing to do with the Trans Atlantic slave trade, yet reading what was displayed at this museum would have you think otherwise. There was even a photo from what looked to to be a BLM riot. It was just another Marxist display of lies to make White people feel guilty. How are you going to go into detail and say that there're no racial differences, but have a photo that says "end racism"?? Aren't we all one race? Despite everything else being wonderful, this room was honestly such a turn off and I will never return.

The Hands On Children's Museum is a great way to let children get out some nervous energy. There's themed areas to nuture pretend play/creativity--grocery, garden, baby n, dental office, theater, paleontological dig, art room, etc. Great for all abilities. Located on N Main St strip near shopping, restaurants, museums, etc. Plan on spending a few hours. The best time to visit is an hour before closing!

Cute little museum in downtown Hendersonville- excellent for kiddos 10 & under. Not huge, but currently under renovation- so it should eventually be a bit bigger. Educational and fun- my son (5 y/o) loved it and stayed busy the entire visit. Many sponsored areas by local businesses such as Drs and dentists. Easy checkin. Admission is $8 for anyone over 1. Masks required for everyone 2 and over. Attached to a coffee shop and adjacent to many restaurants, D8 brewery and shops.

We hit Hands On twice in a month...not bad considering we live on Miami Beach! Clearly we get around. Hands On on is little gem of a spot with a variety of experiences for children of most abilities (while there is a ramp to enter, I wonder how folks of various disabilities might negotiate the inside space). There is an impressive bit packed into the space allowing for all interests to be met. The staff is very warm and friendly and helpful. There is a nominal fee of $5--something lovely and unusual is that you may leave and re-enter once paid. You'll find paid parking lots on the street behind Hands On and as others have noted there are great shops and restaurants right outside on Main Street.

Oh! The magic. Not real magic but that delightful childhood exuberance that happens when kids get to experience a myriad of tactile/kinesthetic opportunities! There were four little ones ranging in age from 4-9 in our group and they were each engaged and impressed with Hans On! Our Granddaughter's favorite part was getting to perform an improvised play ONSTAGE with costumes, props AND the big, heavy velvet curtain. We took advantage of the Lego vehicle construction, letting the various wheeled designs find their way down the incline; the HUGE bubble maker; the slide; the grocery store and checkout counter; the "aquarium" with the colored bubble buttons, the rice table; the water features and more. Admission is $5 for people 1-100! And Hands On! is well worth it. We spent a glorious rainy day there. The only drawback, and even the children commented, is the corridor leading to the venue--smoking is allowed throughout the corridor so the offensive odor of cigarette smoke assails you, both as you enter and as you depart

I was visiting Hendersonville with my kids and as we were walking along Main Street checking out the shops we stumbled across Hands On. We went in to check it out and while I was talking to the woman at the front desk my youngest child took off and started playing. So, of course at that point I had to pay for admission and just let her carry on playing. (It was $5 each for kids and adults, so not a big deal). They give you a sticker to wear to show that you've paid admission, and you can leave and return as long as you have the sticker on. I sent my two older kids to continue shopping while I stayed inside Hands On with the little one and let her play. She had a blast! Hands On is divided into different play areas, all designed to teach different skills, but in a really fun way. My daughter especially enjoyed the ice cream shop and the puppet theater. There was also a dentist's chair, a grocery, a race track, a fishing area with a boat and a dock. There is so much imagination in this small space it was really inspiring. I want one of these in my town! My daughter played about 30 minutes until I dragged her away for more shopping, but I had to promise we'd go back in before we went home, so we spent another 15 minutes or so playing after we finished shopping. This was the first day of our NC vacation, and she asked me if we could go back every day. She still says it was the best part of the trip. The center is geared towards kids under 10, and unfortunately she's getting close to the age limit, but hopefully we'll get up there again before she's too old. She loved it!

The worst children's museum we have been to. So much broken or no clear idea on what to do. They should tell you prior to buying your entrance what is broken. Construction lift broke. Dentist chair broke. Broken screen in medical center. Water guns no water pressure. Broken lever at water table that does nothing. Then other things make no sense. Some strange music room with no directions. You hear violin and hit the button lighting up under violin and it says "try again". No written directions. And legos. Legos are nice. The grocery store was their favorite and it looked sad and plain. Nothing on walls and hardly any food. They have these weird wobble chairs to sit on. My 2 year old could not balance on it and kept falling at the lego table and grocery store. Horribly planned out if a child can't even sit. My son was ready to go after 40 mins. I have NEVER taken him to a children's museum and had him begging to leave. Waste of $30.

Enjoyed our time here. It was raining, so we decided to find something to do inside. Although crowded, it was a great place for the kids to unwind. Bonus: it's connected to a great coffee shop.

My kids absolutely loved this place! We stayed well over 2 hours and they still weren't ready to leave. Lots to do for all ages. My children are 9, 5, and 3. Their favorite spot was building Lego cars and trying them on the racing ramp. Other hits were the ice cream shop, large foam building blocks, and the bubbles. Very much worth $5 each. It's a nonprofit organization. I don't mind paying for me as I saw others complain about. I will probably buy the membership.

There's a small climbing structure that my kids kept coming back to, which was a favorite. A lot of the exhibits focused on the earth. It's like 3 rooms total, all of them in basically the same space, there's probably a whole like 4 or 5 things for the kids to do that they can probably do within 30 minutes. The admission price should be like $5 for what it's worth. The lady at the front told me there was a bunch of hands on activities for babies and I'd say there was like three. The first room was a tiny room with a virtual earth, that if you touch the screen it says it will move but it doesn't work, everything else in that room is just reading/writing (made for tweens and up) and not very fun or engaging. Then there's a room full of rocks behind glass displays, not very exciting or hands on for kids (even as an adult, I felt like it was boring). There's one little section in the room where the kids can brush sand off rocks, but it was nothing special. The room with the bikes is the coolest room, but it's very small and like I said there's barely anything to do. You can look at different bikes on display, they have like 2 or 3 interactive things you can do to learn about how bikes work which take a minute to do. The there's a tiny jungle gym kind of thing that's sub-par, a water play area that's also sub-par and a sand pit where you can look for fossils which I guess would have been fun if my child was a bit older, but for little ones like mine, there wasn't much. He had a very tiny section in the corner he could play with and then he got bored. I guess I'm a bit spoiled because we live in the Triad and we have 3 of the best children's museums. It's guess it's a good thing to do to kill time if you literally have nothing else to do with your kids in Asheville but if I knew what it would be like I probably wouldn't do it again.
