I think the adults we're hoping the kids would burn off some energy and become a little bit calm and docile! That's not going to happen! Children have boundless energy and even if they get tired; they recover quickly! I posted a list of the educational play areas offered here. We had a good sized private room for the festivities! After the party the kids ran from play center to play center for about another hour and a half! New Years hats, face mask, top hats and much more were provided for every child and adult in the building! I even grabbed a hat for myself! This is a fantastic place for kids to have their birthday parties and I highly recommend them!

I noticed my total was more than expected and I asked her if she took off the coupon. She said she did for one person. I told her it would be for up to 4 people. She told me no. I asked her to check the coupon again and she saw what it said and "huffed" and went back to ask again. I honestly thought it was pretty rude! They have two stories. It's not a ton to do but my kids were entertained. They were more entertained downstairs with the water table more than upstairs. The bathrooms were clean. There were a lot of spots to do pretend play as well. Parking is on the street if you can find one or in the free lot across the street.

It has well laid out and informative permanent exhibits, giving you a great overview of the history of the region without it being information overload. They have a fairly large theater that plays a film if you're not too interested in walking around the exhibits. It's fairly compact in size, so you can visit both floors quickly if you are in a rush, or take an hour or two depending on your level of interest. They have several rotating special exhibits, which I feel is essential to keeping things fresh and encourages repeat visits. On my visit, I found both the special exhibits on the Avengers and Lady Bird Johnson to be of excellent quality. However, there was a dinosaur exhibit which I felt was of poor quality and not very informative, and it seemed to be more of an area for younger kids to play rather than have visitors learn. They are setting up to have a Looney Toons special exhibit some time in the next year. There is a small gift and cafeteria area with vending machines on premises. They participate in the Bank of America Museums on Us program, providing complimentary visits to cardholders the first full weekend of every month. Overall, I'd rate the Upcountry History Museum a 4.5 stars out of 5 for a small city museum, but happy to round up since I enjoyed my visit and found it vastly superior to the Greenville County Museum of Art a few minutes away.

It's like 3 rooms total, all of them in basically the same space, there's probably a whole like 4 or 5 things for the kids to do that they can probably do within 30 minutes. The admission price should be like $5 for what it's worth. The lady at the front told me there was a bunch of hands on activities for babies and I'd say there was like three. The first room was a tiny room with a virtual earth, that if you touch the screen it says it will move but it doesn't work, everything else in that room is just reading/writing (made for tweens and up) and not very fun or engaging. Then there's a room full of rocks behind glass displays, not very exciting or hands on for kids (even as an adult, I felt like it was boring). There's one little section in the room where the kids can brush sand off rocks, but it was nothing special. The room with the bikes is the coolest room, but it's very small and like I said there's barely anything to do. You can look at different bikes on display, they have like 2 or 3 interactive things you can do to learn about how bikes work which take a minute to do. The there's a tiny jungle gym kind of thing that's sub-par, a water play area that's also sub-par and a sand pit where you can look for fossils which I guess would have been fun if my child was a bit older, but for little ones like mine, there wasn't much. He had a very tiny section in the corner he could play with and then he got bored. I guess I'm a bit spoiled because we live in the Triad and we have 3 of the best children's museums. It's guess it's a good thing to do to kill time if you literally have nothing else to do with your kids in Asheville but if I knew what it would be like I probably wouldn't do it again.

Imagine my sheer delight when I discovered Joe was from Greenville and there's a museum in his hometown! The museum is open on Saturdays 10am-2pm. I spent an hour looking at all the exhibits and pictures of one of baseball's greatest players. The museum is tastefully filled with uniforms, bats, furniture, his wife's china and over 2,000 baseball books! There were 3 volunteers who offered free tours of this free museum. They shared a wealth of knowledge and I was completely fascinated. Joe's red brick home was moved twice to its current location. More museum area and a well stocked store were added a couple years ago. This is a must-see for all baseball fans and anyone visiting Greenville!

The Art Museum was easy to find and is one of several museums all near each other, The Children's…read moremuseum, The Music Museum and The History museum as well as a Library and Theatre. We were greeted at the entrance and they explained about standing 3 feet back from the art on the wall. I was given a sheet of paper explaining what exhibits were on each level. The works of art were displayed nicely with cards listening Artist, title and mediums used. Also on the walls were interesting facts about the featured artist and their works. The Andrew Wyeth pictures were a beautiful representation of his work spanning several decades of his life. There was also a wonderful exhibit of American artist Bob Ray's work. I was not familiar with his work but it was lovely and intriguing. There are elevators and stairs and ramps making transitions to each floor very easy for all. We went to the top floor and a wonderful gentleman who works there, John , told us quite a bit about the mixed media bird sculptures that were made by Grainger McKoy and and featured at the museum. Gravity defying and extremely detailed we were in awe. John was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time. There was a delightful group of young children on a school trip, that were at the museum and were incredibly well behaved. They were listening to their guide and I was smiling as they were told to discuss with their partners different aspects of the works..... their sweet voices sounded like music as I was behind a wall. The gift shop was small but lovely and I bought some cards and beautiful paper masks. There is no admission fee, so we took an envelope to send in well deserved donation.

While I am usually impressed with smaller city/county museums that are free, this one was extremely limited, with works of art scattered across a small area on 2 floors, with other floors under renovation. There are quite a few works by Andrew Wyeth on display, but nothing noteworthy compared to other museums that include his works. The modern art on display left much to be desired, and seemed like unimpressive filler art that you skip by at other museums. Overall, I spent no more than 20 minutes going through everything, and felt like I wasted my time there. Luckily, the Upcountry History Museum around the corner was excellent, so my venture out to the area wasn't a total waste. I'd probably not recommend a visit to the Greenville County Museum of Art unless you're bored on a rainy day and you're already in the area looking to kill some time.
