It has now been seven months…read moresince I purchased my boat, and it is still not titled in my name due to Sterling Marina failing to send the correct documentation to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Because of this, my application was declined, leaving me unable to legally use a boat that I paid $85,000 for. This is not a minor oversight, this is a basic responsibility of the dealership, and their failure has caused significant delays and frustration. What makes this even worse is the complete lack of communication. I have made numerous phone calls, left voicemails, and sent multiple emails, and no one answers or returns them. There has been little to no effort to resolve the issue or even provide an update. This situation has turned what should have been an exciting purchase into a stressful and ongoing problem. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with Sterling Marina. After thy receive your money, getting support afterward has been nearly impossible.

Do not trust the fake good reviews. We rented a pontoon last week and had the worst experience. We…read morepaid to take the "captain course" in advance which costed us time and money. Nonetheless, on the day of our excursion, we arrived 20 minutes early, still had to wait for our boat, then the employee still took another 40 min past our rental time to show us how to drive the boat, even after we explained that we already paid tons of money and passed the "course." They did not give us any extra rental time. After they allowed us to start our trip, they called us to turn back to the marina, where the manager proceeded to shout and yelled about how we were going too fast, even though we didn't create any wake in the water. The manager then started using racial slurs against us ( our group was composed of asian and caucasian passengers). Nearby was an Indian family who listened to the racial slurs in horror. My three young children were horrified by the outright verbal abuse publicly thrown at us. We considered pursuing legal action against the company. If I could give zero star, I would. Do not come here if you value dignity and respect from their employees or manager. I should've been suspicious when I saw that several other bad reviews were hidden in yelp....

The outboard was only a 50 however, but with only 2 adults and 2 children on board it wasn't terribly underpowered. Pricing was competitive for the area. The marina was a bit tight but nothing I haven't seen before. There is very little traffic around their cove which makes for a quick departure and docking. I like that it's at the end of the lake which gives you an opportunity to do a full stretch without a lot of backtracking. The store was fully stocked with bait and tackle. This was one of the best boat rental experiences I've had in years and I would absolutely use them again.

I like to go for the fishing boat with motor because I don't want to paddle or pay too much but there are different options depending on what your doing. I would have preferred to make a reservation but the rentals are on first come, first serve basis so make sure you get there early. I wasn't sure how long I wanted the boat for so they let me book 2 hours and then settle up when I got back. I was a little nervous because the boat didn't tell me how deep the water was beneath me, but we didn't get stuck so it's all good. I was happy I brought my radio. I did get lost a little but was able to pull up a map on my phone. They have a lot of fishing equipment for you to buy as well. I had to take a "safety course" to be able to rent the boat but it didn't take long and wasn't a big deal. They didn't even give me a hard time about crashing into the wall on my way out. The steering took a little to get used to, especially in reverse. The first time I was here, I dropped the anchor in the water but it wasn't tied to the boat so it just dropped to the bottom.

Let me start off by saying that the bathroom at the marina is not like a typical marina . Despite the old man's coin slot I saw when I walked in, the bathroom is more than clean. Not as pricey as the more popular Gateway Marina, Tottenville Marina has a certain charm about it. With amazing views of the Outerbridge and the burned remains of some old factory, I felt like I was somewhere other than Staten Island. To top it off, the people there are really friendly and more than willing to help my two inexperienced friends learn the difference between the bow and the stern.
