This was a first for me. Ethiopian food he said , eat with your hands. As I'm always up for an adventure, why not!!We ordered the sampler vegetarian and chicken. Every bite is filled with flavor, spice and transports you to Africa.

This restaurant was so yummy and filling and such a great find. Will definitely come back when I return to Spain!!

Wow. This was our last night in Spain and wanted something different. Picked this restaurant because it was so different. We chose the tasting menu for three. the menu only says for two or four, but the waitress said they could adjust for three (55€). The dinner started with sanbussa which is lentils or ground lamb wrapped in filo dough and served with a spicy sauce which was fantastic. The main meal is then served in a common platter and consists of many different flavored tastes with different meats. It is served with different flatbreads which are used to pick up and eat. The flavors were wow...... Finished with pistashio baklava. They brought out a jar of honey wine (mead) as the finale to a wonderful meal.

This place is wonderful ! It was one of my favorite stops while in Madrid . It is a small restaurant, decorated nicely with Ethiopian art work . The service was pretty quick especially for what you're getting and server was very nice . You can have a Spanish or English version of the menu . There is vegetarian and non options , we went for the non which had lamb , chicken, and beef . Everything was so flavorful but not overwhelming . I loved it . See my pictures of it . The spread is amazing , so much food , but you'll want to eat it all . We started with a fried vegetarian appetizer can't remember the name ( picture attached ) it was tasty especially with the sauce given . The honey wine was delicious and refreshing it's a must . Also went for a dessert , it was sticky and flaky and a super way to end the meal . This place is a must ! Go here !

Great Ethiopian food in Madrid! It is expensive (especially for Spain) but well worth it if you're looking to splurge. Both times I've been here I've ordered the tasting menu, both the 'everything' version and the chicken version. Definitely suggest getting the full tasting menu as you get a lot more variety of meats and veggies.

Volvería a cenar allá!!

Without a doubt the best Ethiopian restaurant in Madrid. The portions are extraordinarily generous. I always get the tasting menu for two and it's more than enough. I am here having dinner with my mom and I absolutely love it. And so does she'

Amazing sautéed lamb and house roasted Ethiopian coffee. Authentic and very healthy. Delightful to meet the owner and chef as well!

My friend who lived in Madrid took me first time to this place many years ago before I started to write reviews for Yelp. Then years later I went back to Madrid and coincidentally ended up at the same place and realized that it was the same restaurant I went with my friend. I remembered that it was really good. And it is still very good!!! My favorite dish here is beef Mafe (beef with peanut sauce). I can't say from my own experience that it's authentic because I've never been to Senegal or any African countries but I felt that it's pretty authentic! LOL Well you should try and let me know! I tried to make Mafe myself at home. I searched for recipes on the internet but it wasn't as good as from this restaurant. The service was friendly but a bit slow. The best idea and time is go a bit late. We went for lunch a bit before 2 and they started to cook all the dishes together at once (in big portions for the day) at 2. LOL So if you go about 3 pm for lunch, you would be served right away! I will definitely go back to this place again! I highly recommend it!

It is definitely the spot for inexpensive Senagalese food. The waitress was very attentive and understanfing about my limited Spanish speaking abilities. Only the first four items on their entrees were available, so I ordered their grilled chicken with vegetables, rice, and a little picante on the side. There was definitely more rice than anything, but it was cooked very well with just a nice bit of crunch and spice. The chicken was tender on the inside and the outside was a deep brown color, but all of it flowed very well together. The amount of spice of the picante made me cough a little bit, but was so worth it as it was a great mix with the rice, chicken, and onions. The "vegetables" were basically a sprinkling of shredded onions, carrots, and green peppers. Was able to take my leftovers home as they have para llegar (take out). I hope to come back to this spot again and try one of their drinks and more of that amazing rice. I think I will ask for extra chicken this time.

The area was mostly deserted, and located in a community with Chinese and Mexican restaurants. The streets were steep, and not the best for my wife's heels. The entrance belies the rest of the neighborhood, but it gives a clue to what's inside. The interior is gorgeous. North African music weaves a lively tune to provide the perfect backdrop. We opened with hummus, which had the silky quality you expect, and a beautiful presentation. The flavor was very chickpea-forward, but something tasted different from the hummus I've enjoyed in Dearborn (which has the world's largest concentration of middle easterners outside the Middle East). Then, I realized it: there was no detectable garlic, and no salt. Salt is available upon request, though. The pita served with the hummus is the flat pocket type, not the puffy baked type. Not bad, but nothing special. The tagine is a conical clay cooking vessel used in North African cooking. An order of tagine means you will get a dish prepared and served in such a vessel. Well flavors may differ someone, one thing is assured: the food inside will be succulent and fall-off-the-bone. The lamb tagine was slightly sweet due to the raisins used in the preparation, and the large amount of carrots. It was served on a bed of couscous. The chicken tagine was less sweet, and served with peas and smaller chunks of carrots. The beef tagine played a bit like steak and potatoes. All of them were very tasty, though they did need a little bit of salt. While the lamb was served with couscous underneath, chicken did not have any sort of grain so we ordered rice. Wow, was this a great idea. The rice was seasoned with ras el hanout, which was exploding with flavor. This worked beautifully with all three of the above. Drink selections are limited, but we were honestly happy that they served alcohol at all. Prices are not bad, with most dishes costing around 19€. Our waiter was fast and friendly, and he was happy to call us a cab when it was time to leave. I advise taking a taxi there, too, unless you have some high quality footwear. I can't imagine doing better in Madrid if you want an authentic experience with Moroccan food.

The food was very good but the caveat is that there is a 27 euro minimum per person charge. With a main course, drink and dessert the minimum charge wasn't an issue. I would recommend this restaurant.
