At some point I had medical and she questioned me about that. But thats not the worst, Her front staff is Rude, no work ethics. Good luck trying to get ahold of them, phones dont work, phones ring and ring with no answer or better yet they puck up put you on hold without letting you know and be online for EVER! The incompetence is unreal... they had me driving everywhere kept sending me to the wrong places for x rays. Staff never takes accountability for their mistakes, DOCTOR RANKUMAR never takes accountability for her staff but they sure Bill your insurance! I want to make a complaint about Marelyn who works at the front desk. When I came in, she seemed rude and not very welcoming. She didn't really explain things clearly and acted like I was bothering her when I asked questions. It made the whole check-in process uncomfortable. I just believe front desk staff should be more polite and helpful to patients I'm all about first impressions but the way she seemed was incredibly unprofessional. read more

horrible place to go to don't ever come here if you want a problem unhandled and very poorly treated!!!!We were extremely frustrated during this visit because the scans that were medically necessary were not properly evaluated. The initial X-rays were unable to determine whether the injury was a hairline fracture or a deviated septum, yet we were told they would be reviewed thoroughly. After being passed between five different X-ray technicians, we received a call only 15 minutes later stating that everything "looked fine" and that there was nothing wrong. This was completely inaccurate. We changed doctors the same day, and the new pediatrician immediately had us seen by a technician. The correct diagnosis was a deviated septum , and I am now referred to a specialist. This situation was urgent, mishandled, and should never have been dismissed so quickly. The lack of proper evaluation delayed correct care and caused unnecessary stress. read more

The nice nurse pricked my sons finger and found out his hemoglobin was low. The practitioner said we need to do further blood work to see his iron specifically. Ok good, but she ordered him to take 30ml of iron before the blood work, not really knowing how low it was and asked me to feed him more iron on top of that. I get the iron drops and it recommends 15ml and has warnings of fatal overdose in kids under 6, he is 3. Research shows 20ml of iron is toxic and 60ml is death. Again, she said 30ml along w iron rich foods. I had already given him half the dose of the clear iron and his lips turned blue after an hour. That was a huge scare but found out iron can dye your month. She should have warned me of that but she was walking out of the door while answering one of my last questions. The worse part is that she DID NOT even order an iron panel for his blood, just a test generic as the first one. She never called to go over the results, I had to go in person to pick it up, read them by myself, and she never asked me to get more bloodwork to see how his iron is doing after the supplement. And by the way, turns out he was just nearly out of range and he was sick at the time and mostly wanted fruit, not iron foods, she didn't even ask me if his diet recently changed, just assumed he is anemic. read more

Highly recommend this pediatric office. I'm glad I searched Yelp a bit before we chose a pediatrician. Dr Ramkumar and her staff were efficient and friendly. She was very knowledgeable and gave easy to understand info to our questions. I had paperwork for them to fill out and they were more than willing to help me as part of the appointment. The office accepts Medi-Cal which is also a huge plus. The parking lot can get full but street parking isn't too bad. read more

Dr. Ramkumar has been the best dr to my kids for the last 12 years! Any questions I had she answered any worries I had she made me feel content and know there was a solution! Having a premature daughter was very scary but Dr. Ramkumar automatically knew when something was wrong and suggested options to look into for her care (therapy/speech). She knows her stuff! Dr. Ramkumar is an incredible pediatrician. I wish I knew about her when my first daughter was little. We've gone through 5 different pediatricians and all of them couldn't take the time to learn about their clients medical condition.... Until we met Dr.Ramkumar. She not only knew about our children's conditions prior to meeting but she gave key advice on the best health care. I can't say enough great things and the feeling of someone finally doing their job right. Her staff is extremely friendly and easy to work with. This was a bitter sweet one. My little one had no idea going to the doctor meant shots. She was so excited to get a check up and talk to a real life doctor. She was so brave and got her shots. The doctor and nurses were amazing here. I said to my daughter "How cool is it to have gotten a shot from a superhero?! Nurses are superheroes. You just can't see their capes!" Dr. Ramkumar has been my sons pediatrician since he was born he is now 13. Just recently took him for a physical and realized I have never left a review. I was 23 when I had my son single mom didn't want everyone's advice on breastfeeding. When she came in the room to introduce herself she seen I was alone and having trouble. She gave me great advice and he immediately latched on. I was able to nurse for over a year and it was something I could never forget. Every year she has seen him and asked all the questions you would ask yourself. Very detailed and has always given some great advice, whether it was behavior, habits, or food. My son was born anemic and we were able to change that! Since he is now 13 she also asked him questions pertaining to puberty which I was thankful for. The Dr is great, would highly recommend to local parents looking for a knowledgeable, experienced pediatrician! Staff is caring and helpful, rooms and waiting areas are always clean. Wish she'd find a new Nurse Practitioner though or another one, this one needs a lot more experience before she makes herself someone you can trust...she needs a mentor or something. I LOVE everything about this pediatrician and the office. Called the office and was immediately given an appointment for the next day. The place was big and very clean. Checked in at 9:15 and 10 minutes later was taken back to check daughter's weight and height. 10 minutes after that, the doctor came in and saw my daughter. She was very nice and professional. Listened to my concerns and did a thorough check on my daughter. I will 100000% be coming back. I came from Jana wells office (heart2heart) which was a waste of money and time, stopped going after 3 visits. Overall I spent 1 hr from the time I got there to the time I sat in my car as I was leaving. An hour might seem like alot but it was fastest dr visit I've ever been too. Also liked that the dr didnt pressure me into giving my daughter a flu shot. I said no thanks and that was it. Other drs make it a point to ask why and give a small lecture on why I should give the flu shot. I definitely recommend this dr and will continue bringing my daughter. read more

Offices are nice. Front office help is nice. It's the Dr that was not so good. We decided to take both of our sons to her because of the proximity to our house and because we were transitioning from straight medi-cal to cal optima at the time. The first thing she asked me was, "Are you only here to see me because you have temporary straight medi-cal? Once you get CalOptima are you going back to your other pediatrician?" I was thrown off guard with the forwardness of her question and answered, "well, let's see how it goes and we'll take it from there? Can you give me a little more information on your background?" She gave me this look like "whatever" then proceeded to give me her credentials.. She checked out the newborn for about 1 minute said he was fine and that was it. Second experience: our newborn is now 7 months and not really sitting up so we set up an appt with her to get him checked out. All she did was tell us to call regional center...thats it...nothing else... Third experience; today: newborn, now 8 months had a fever. Took him in because his five year old brother had a fever and ear infection last week and daddy has strep throat. Just want to make sure the little one was ok. My wife said the nurses took his temperature and told her he had no fever. Dr came in, didn't check him at all and just asked about regional center... My wife and I just don't get a sense of compassion from this woman... We gave her three tries...We are done. Yes, we are going back to the five year olds old pediatrician. Dr Rueben very close by. This doctor is very foul and disrespectful. I had returned to her because it was closer to home. First visit back she tells me it's my fault as a single mother that my son isn't disciplined because his father is not in his life and I'm alwaYs at work . Like I'm sorry but what kind of person let alone doctor says something like that. You don't know what the person has gone through with their ex partner. Second encounter was I needed some forms filled out and she states how was she supposed to fill out papers she had no information on and was YELLING the entire phone call . Not once did her or her office staff call to say they needed anything further , mind you These forms had been sent out for 4 weeks she stated she was frustrated since that's always her attitude when we come in she stated that since she's always frustrated to find care else where and did not let me tell her it was important forms I need because my son has probable autism and she did not let me speak she cut me off and told me to find care else where and hung up. What kind of human has the heart to not help those who are asking and need it for their child . I will never understand but I would never in a million years recommend this clinic or doctor. And I hope those girls there never have to go through any of this when they have children... it's the worst feeling as a mother ... god will definitely work it's way around. Mixed reviews about this place. The Dr herself seemed unprofessional in appearance, dressed somewhat revealing and was chewing her gum the whole time. She was polite and kind but her checkup didn't seem that thorough. She was quick and diagnosed our newborn with mild jaundice. This was the worst experience of my life! I took my 11 month old to get her ears pierced after deciding that a doctors office had to be safer than getting them pierced at the mall. Boy was I wrong! First off, I had to remind the nurse to clean my daughters ears. Isn't this standard when piercing anyone? Secondly, the nurse pressed the gun against my daughters cheek when piercing and sliced it open. OPEN! There was blood dripping down her face. She was hysterical and inconsolable. It was awful! The nurse was not apologetic and had the audacity to ask me if she already had it when she came in. Yes I'm sure. I brought my daughter in with a slice in her cheek that was dripping with blood. Another nurse (after I complained) asked what my daughter did to get that. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I received no apologies and after asking to see the doctor (NP) she handed me a pea size sample of neosporin type ointment and said she would be fine. My daughter now has a scar. The nurse who cut her never apologized and I was never offered a refund or even an apology. I have since called twice asking for my money back and to speak to the head doctor and have yet to hear back. It's been 6 weeks! We should not have experienced this at a doctors office. I understand mistakes happen. But when your 11 month old is hysterically screaming because part of her cheek was just ripped open and no one comes to your aid to offer help or a refund, something is seriously wrong. I am so disappointed and so disgusted with this experience. What a HUGE disappointment. I will never go back and will strongly encourage people to go elsewhere. No mother or baby should ever have to experience this. read more

First of all, Dr. Ramkumar is 4/5. She is very nice, attentive and supports breastfeeding. She took the time to check my daughter during a well-visit. The reason why I am rating her office a 3/5 is for her staff. I would rate her staff a 1/5. We've had multiple encounters of frustration with multiple staff members: 1. Ear piercing: The nurse took forever to pierce my daughter's ear. We needed 2 people to hold her down while she pierced her ear. The gun wouldn't let go and she couldn't figure out. The back of the earring fell of and I kept telling her that. I assumed thats why the gun wouldn't let go of the actual earring. My daughter was crying hysterically and I was sick to my stomach. I figured hey it's a doctor's office better than going to Clair's. Right? Wrong. And this happened to another friend of mine with the same nurse at the same office. You guys need more training or something. 2. The shots: We are doing a modified schedule and our pediatrician, Dr. Ramkumar is very supportive of our decision. But the staff (multiple nurses) in multiple occasions have argued with us about modifying the vaccinations. I had one nurse tell me "well my daughter had the routine vaccines and she turned out fine." And I told her this is my daughter and my decision. Rude. Another nurse (after telling her we only want 2-3 shots on each visit), would come back with 5-6 shots and stamping her vaccine book prior to administering her shots. Then I would remind her again of our conversation, she left, came back with the correct amount of shots and crossed off the shots that were not administered. Wth?!! Now my vaccine book looks confusing and shady, and I have to buy another one due to staff error. 3. Scheduling: today, we arrived to our appointment and apparently we were not on the schedule even though we physically had a reminder card with date and time filled out by the staff member. She wanted to squeeze us in. I asked her the wait time. She said it will be a little bit. Not knowing how long a "little bit" would be, I asked her "would it take an hour? Less? More?" She got annoyed. She said around 45 minutes. And we have other engagements and places to be, so we had to reschedule her well-check appointment. It's rude. It's inconsiderate and unprofessional. My daughter is 15 months old and I've given time and time again. Maybe they're having a bad day. But today was the last straw. I'm sorry for Dr. Ramkumar. Your staff needs some serious help. read more

Dr Ramkumar is the best pediatrician ever, hands down. After reading some of the reviews I'd like to give my input on some of the concerns that other Yelpers have commented on. She is blunt, not cold hearted. Yes at times it might come off rude but she's just being straight forward. She has many patients and gets right to the point. This may not be everyone's cup of tea but in her defense, she is extremely caring. I have known her my entire life, literally. She delivered my brothers, myself, and my now 5 year old daughter. During regular check ups she is a bit quick but she knows what she's doing and what to look for if there's an issue. I've never had a misdiagnosis from her. During "sick" visits, she will have conversations with me and ask about my family and makes sure that I (no longer a minor) am okay physically and mentally. Keep in mind I am no longer her patient, my daughter is. But she still cares. I've had a lot of health issues including an autoimmune disease scare and although I wasn't her patient, I was able to bring my lab results to her and she went over them with me and explained them in detail, something the rheumatologist treating me at the time didn't do. If you decide to make an appointment with Dr Ramkumar, be prepared for her strong personality. But it comes off stronger with her patients, she has love and passion for what she does. read more

We love Dr. Ramkumar! Dr. Ramkumar has been my daughter's pediatrician since she was born and she is now almost 7 years old. She is an amazing doctor and very personable to us. She proactively addresses concerns and questions also knows when to go for the next step as needed for the treatment. Dr Ramkumar is easily reached and very easy to make an appointment whenever my daughter gets sick. She knows my daughter's history so I am able to reach out to her even when I'm out of state and she knows exactly what's going on and what to prescribe. Her staff is absolutely fantastic! Dr Ramkumar and her staff are very cooperative, trustworthy, helpful, polite and friendly! We wouldn't go anywhere else and would keep Dr Ramkumar as our pediatrician for as long as we can keep! read more

Our insurance didn't want to cover the cranial band, so she went out of her way to help us out with a referral letter and appeal the insurance rejection.
