Other than the fact that the slope is not that pronounced, any seat should be fine for viewing. Now for the important points.......We saw "The Fantasticks," the longest running Broadway show from 1960 to 2002. Jerry Orhbach actually played el Gallo, the narrator, in the original who opens the show with the beautiful ballad, "Time to Remember." Well, this production followed that proud tradition. Every actor was excellent and very talented.......the narrator, the boy, the girl, the two fathers, the mute........they were all superb. Bravo! A job well done. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Tip: on weekends when the Dime Bank is closed it is OK to park in the adjoining parking lot. We confirmed that with the theater.

Next time I think I would like to sit in that section. It's a little smaller, less seats and closer to the stage than where we sat. The play we saw was called, Half Time. It was a true story about older people who auditioned for the half time show for a basketball game. It was funny, entertaining and sad all at the same time. The actors did an amazing job. As far as the singing, some were better than others, but I think part of the problem was, some of the microphones were not as loud as others. It was still really awesome, and made the reality of getting older sobering and funny at the same time. I am not sure how long this show is running, but if it is still at this theater, you should go see it. I was able to only sneak two photos, since we weren't allowed to take pictures. I would go back to see other shows here. It's a great theater located in the great town of Port Jefferson!

There were a few questions and answers, but lights were not shown on the audience so on stage they could not see who was waving hands to possibly get a chance to get a mic and ask. Also As EG tended to lovingly go off on tangents many questions were not precise or answered from the small crowd. Definately could have had a more exacting format for that proceedure. As for the movie, Wow, it was clear and sharp with good sound and nice to see on a full screen. This one was the original ending (not the directors cut) Where they appear to live happily ever after - maybe! **) - Great cast in this version with Rich Moranas, John Candy, Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Jim Belushi, and a few other perfectly placed characters. I got a great seat after calling and speaking with a helpful lovely lady, though I felt the tickets for this were a bit costly. My drive is far enough away for it not to be a common visit. Though with the passing of versitile Vagabon Tim Curry perhaps the upcoming Rocky Horror Picture show will fill more seats.

Not to mention that its location is right at the heart of Patchogue main eateries. They showcase interesting films in this place (you'll probably won't find any Avengers movies here). We went to see the Toni Morrison documentary, "The Pieces I am" (a great documentary, by the way, that I highly recommend, especially if you want to really understand the black experience/reality in America from the point of view or a remarkable woman who was a giant in literature). The staff was super friendly and volunteers; I recommend offering them support so that they remain around offering the kind of shows they offer; all interesting and intriguing. Check them out and support their activities.

I have since heard the heat had been not worked since early fall and throughout the winter. I didn't want to write this review on yelp because I love the theater and I understand they're a nonprofit and might be struggling. I wrote a letter detailing the experience and never got an answer. I copied two of the of the people on the contact list of the theater. Does anyone know if this has been fixed and if the heat is part of a HVAC system would that mean there will also be no air conditioning in the heat of the summer. Does anyone know what the problem is?

My experience with seeing two movies (one non matinee $10.00, while the other was $7.50. Staff were gracious and friendly

Yeah, the carpets are old and need to be replaced, decor is old too but who cares! PJ Cinemas opened in 1973 and has stayed open for a reason! Its charming, those walls carry so many memories and history! People are smiling and happy to share what brings them to this theatre! The staff are so friendly, the tickets are little pieces of paper like back in the day and the prices are unheard of. Tickets are $10 for adults $7.50 for seniors. There are combo deals like the one that cost me $10.50 tonight for a small popcorn I couldn't even finish, small drink and candy!! What???? The theatres have seats you can choose when you walk in, no assigning seats here. You can choose to sit somewhere else if say a person with a big head chooses their seat in front of you. This has happened too often and I love I have options now. There are old fashioned seats that rock. For me, I dont need to recline like I'm watching the movie in my bed! I found my new theatre! No more paying $30-40 for a night out at the movies for me anymore! I wish more businesses could turn back the clock and make us feel like what times used to be like. This is a rarity that you need to experience. Plan your next movie night at PJ Cinemas and make it your new theatre too!

The reason is, if you're a movie lover and you like to watch your movie on a big screen with great sound, you're not going to get that here. Sure you may get the big screen, but there are three or four cinemas in this small, old (and yes, charming) building yet somehow nobody made sure that each one is sound proof. So during your movie you'll be hearing the soundtrack to another. The rude manager doesn't even apologize for it. He just says "it's a 1940's movie house. What do you want ?" "Ummm. 1940's movie ticket prices ?" Look as I said to him, that's fine but you should give people the choice when they're paying top dollar ticket prices. You should at least let them know that this is what they're going to be getting. I def see romance and charm in an old 40's theatre. But soundproofing is essential. I'm not even sure if movie companies like the #WeinsteinCompany or #Disney #Fox or any of them would even let their movies be shown here if they knew what the botched sound system is like. Anyhow, your choice. At least now you know before you hand over your hard-earned money.

The theater has plush, leather-like chairs (no recliners) and the entire place was either clean or being cleaned; this is a very tidy place. The best part yet was after traveling to two larger, more popular theaters and told they were sold out, this place was wide open.
