My friend and I attended the Candlelight: Coldplay & Imagine Dragons concert on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 6:15 PM at CM Performing Arts Center. We arrived around 6:00 PM and joined the line to enter. As we got in, our tickets were scanned by fever staff. The usher brought us to our seats in Zone C. Seating is assigned on a first come first served basis in each zone. Our seats were good and had good visibility of the stage. The stage and the auditorium was filled with electric candles that had a warm and flickering glow. About 6:30 PM, the concert opened with Coldplay - Clocks. Then, the Highline String Quartet introduced themselves and talked us through the program. Some of the songs they played were Imagine Dragons - Radioactive, Coldplay - Fix You, Imagine Dragons - Eyes Closed, Imagine Dragons - Bad Liar, Coldplay - The Scientist, and Coldplay - Sky Full of Stars. As we approached the top of the hour, the Highline String Quartet asked the audience to make some noise to see if there were more Coldplay or Imagine Dragons fans. Coldplay won and they played Viva la Vida and did Imagine Dragons - Believer as an encore. The whole concert was a beautiful and magical experience. I was in awe of the music by the Highline String Quartet composed of 3 violinists and 1 cellist. Looking forward to attending more Candlelight concerts! CM Performing Art Center in Oakdale NY has started their new season "Anything Goes" with Cole Porter classic music and lyrics. You can check the list of their upcoming performances on their website , and register for education classes pre-k - 19 years old. If you'd like a subscription ask how you can apply your ticket. The playbill updated technology has a QR to read about the actors, along with a screen upon entering the theater with their bios. ( see pix) The performance was very good with the 2 lead characters Billy Crocker (Patrick Silk" and Reno Sweeney (Veronica Fox) having fine voices enjoyable to see and hear. The costumes worked to capture the era and a cruise ship. The white Navy hats worn by staff were a nice touch and I was glad to find a few of the ushers particularly kind and helpful. As in the line from "Moonface Martin" "There's definitely something wrong here" Reno in her bling red dress had a noticeable battery for her mic, attached to her back. Also, while his size of clothing swap change of disguise clearly would not have worked, Moonface Martin (Ryan Nolin) had charming comedic timing abd it was accepted as poetic license from the audience. I'd forgotten about the dog in the story and was glad at the end along with the given pun- drum roll, yuck yuck yuck that perhaps the younger generation might not have gotten as the play had been written in 1934 and vaudeville was well known. Lighting was well done as was sound quality. The staging was simple but sufficient. The crowd gave sure strength claps and calls throughout. The dances were effective and the tap sounds, I believe, were from the orchestra / band below, of which I didn't see get acknowledged when 2 or more bows from cast and crew were given at the finish . But then perhaps I simply missed that. Overall, it was an enjoyable show. read more

Came here once and absolutely loved it. I saw Rent, my favorite show of all time. It didn't disappoint. Everything was amazing. Venue, setup, and of course the performers. I actually booked another show while I was there; couldn't wait to do so. I wish I knew about this place earlier. And it's sooooo cheap too. I would have paid double. read more

I would give it 5 stars except that every single performance in the last 2 years (& I've been a subscriber for years) has started VERY LATE. In fact, usually they don't even let us into the theater until past the posted starting time. WHY CAN'T SHOWS START ON TIME!? When Covid was at its worse, they kept us squashed in the waiting area until 20 minutes past the posted starting time for the show to start before even opening the theater (seating area). No way to prevent breathing everyone's air! That said, their performances are excellent. They do need to improve their sound system. My partner has resorted to earplugs several times due to the overpowering music that sometimes keeps the singers from being heard properly. A couple of years ago we saw Matilda & I could not hear/understand the star at all because the music overpowered the child's voice. It's a shame, because they do excellent productions. This was my first time going to Theatre. I saw Hello Dolly. I enjoyed immensely. They had a pit orchestra and a very professional cast. My husband and I both liked that the seats were comfortable and he had enough leg room. We were in Row B so had good seats. At the back of theatre they had an area of tables where people could sit and have drinks and snacks (four to a table ) and watch show. read more

Nice local theater that makes you think you're in the city. The volunteers are all friendly. I saw A Christmas Story this weekend. Great performance. Great actors. The sound was good and seats comfortable. Lobby nice and decorated for Christmas. Not the theaters fault but I had someone behind me crinkling a candy wrapper the entire time. I have always loved going to shows here. There productions are so great and it's nice to not have to go to the city for a great production. Unfortunately, due to the recent customer service and having to hunt people down for a refund, I will no longer be patronizing this theatre. I understand we are in a pandemic. I bought tickets as a gift for Mother's Day 2020. For obviously reasons, the snow was postponed. Although these were a present for Mother's Day, I figured my mom and I would make another weekend out of it. Because the pandemic was still in high swing, I emailed to see about a refund. I received no response. I took a chance called and someone picked up.explained my situation - these were a gift for Mother's Day, and I don't live local, would it be possible to get a refund. The woman I spoke to made it seem like she was doing me a huge favor by agreeing, after trying to tell me it would be better to take a credit. Again, I don't live out of town and we wanted to see a specific show that was now cancelled. She agreed to give me a refund - although her tone did change when I declined to donate to their gofundme - and she said that I would see a refund in 2-3 days and if I don't, to call back. It is now 3 weeks later, I've received no refund, no reply to numerous emails, and no one picks up when I call. No matter how much I enjoy these shows, CM has lost customers now, because I will not be patronizing them. read more

My family and I saw "Pippin" last week at the CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale. This was our first time here. After having seen this play on Broadway, I was expecting a mediocre community theatre rendition but we had the tickets and I planned on making the best of it. Man... was I wrong! This production quality was comparable to the Broadway production and far exceeded my expectations. Additionally, the actress cast as the "Leading Player" Nicole Fragala, even surpassed the actress Patina Miller in that role. Emily Edwards in the role of Catherine was also amazing! If you're looking for a great night at the theater without traveling all the way into NYC for an overpriced show on Broadway, stay local and see a production at this theater. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. read more

Art comes in many forms. I've been fortunate to experience it at this theatre. Tonight's rendition of "Jesus Christ Superstar" was phenomenal. The design (set, lighting and costume) was artfully composed, the dancing flawless and the music executed with seeming ease. I look forward to attending performances here. The budget is family friendly. (Tickets can be as low as $16 with a subscription.) Large groups can be accommodated. There is even a special room that can host private cocktails. As parking is shared with other businesses, come early! (Especially on Sundays. The theatre has free bagels.) With some construction the number of handicap spots is limited. Great place! read more

It feels like Broadway as you enjoy performances with talented actors and sets and music that transforms you to another place. CM Playhouse has ample parking, and comfortable seating. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have seen many shows here over the years and always enjoyed the experience. Just had such an enjoyable evening seeing All Shook Up! The entire cast is so talented as actors, singers & dancers! The story flows smoothly with comedy interspersed amid well know songs that are beautifully sung accompanied by a live pit orchestra. You will not want this uplifting show to end! Only on Long Island can you discover the most wonderful cultural experiences right in one's own back yard. Today our tour group from Nassau County enjoyed a wonderful performance of "Beauty and the Beast". The sets, the music , and the performers did an excellent job, and the visual effects were outstanding. NO need to for us to travel to Manhattan to see live theater during the holiday season. No NYC traffic for us. Just holiday decorated villages and a delightful musical performance in Oakdale. Don't miss it. read more

I saw Les Miserables and it was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys musicals. The studio is very cozy and very pretty. I do not have any complaints at all. They were selling snacks, coffee, candy, and much more. It was the excitement of Broadway but much cheaper and much more local. Are you looking for something to do? Do you like musicals? As far as local live theatre, my fiance and I were very pleased with the quality of their recent production of The Sound of Music. The staff was pleasant, the sound was not bad, and the performers were well above average!
