Just 5 years ago they had a fantastic space that was torn out with the remodel of the mall. There is not much to say about the space. It's a long narrow designated area that is walled off for security. The colors are kid friendly and the pieces are softish to not injury the kids. My daughter was the last one to enjoy a few years ago, but we usually said no as these places are notoriously germ pits. If there is hand sanitizer at the entrance I've never seen it. This would be a good add. A PSA...parents watch your kids and abide by the rules of height to enter. Never leave your child unattended...yes it happens all the time. Place shoes in the storage area just inside the entrance. So why can I eek this to a 3? Because every time I pass by toddlers are having a great time running, jumping around and smiling. So I relinquish my rating to what it's really about...the kids. I'm not going crazy however. It's a very basic play area that's better than nothing. Furthermore the staff does keep it clean. If your children are desperate and you bathe them in hand sanitizer after a romp this is an ok place for youngsters to run out some energy. It's secure and clean so alrighty then a 3 it is I guess.

You probably have driven by this city park before. There are three on a short stretch and Brigadoon…read moreland wise may be the largest, but it's empty overall. Also there is no parking. Spoiler alert...move on. The park is located off Lynnhaven Parkway. However, there is absolutely no way to access other than foot or bike. Parking by car would be over a block away in the neighborhood. Brigadoon Park is well maintained with grass recently mowed and no liter to speak of. Trash cans are available. The basketball court and playground equipment are both in great condition. A volleyball court does not have a net. A small shelter with picnic table is by the play equipment. No restrooms are on grounds. Unfortunately the park is completely land locked by privacy fences. If there is access other than off Lynnhaven I missed it. This is a huge draw back for neighborhood utilization in my opinion. I would say the best asset of the park is land. Over three acres easily. They have a gate to move trucks for unloading on the grounds. So it's possible this is utilized, or at least they are prepared. There is not much here, but what is here is well maintained and can be enjoyed safely. 2.5 rounding up. Nice option if your child reside in the area, otherwise I would not recommend.

Full disclosure. I'm not a huge baseball fan and I've been to a Tides game before, but this time…read morearound was really fun! I believe it was due to the level of experience I had. If you have the opportunity to see a Tides game and have access to the picnic area that's the way to go! I had tickets via a corporate event and we had seats in section 117 which is down in front closer to 3rd base, but also include access to the picnic area which had a better view and included up to an hour and a half duration of food. The food served is dependent on the menu choice the organizer paid. We had menu 1 which consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, potato salad, cookies and nonalcoholic beverages. Staff replenished some of the food, but the chips and potato salad and cookies went fast! Their hamburgers and hot dogs are really tasty too! I enjoyed the spread! I think another menu option may include fried chicken, pulled pork bbq, coleslaw and potato salad as well but we didn't have that menu. You can choose to return to your seats to watch the game or remain in the picnic area. I felt the picnic area was a more pleasant experience and had a better view of the field. Most of the area is covered, with a 1/4 of the seating uncovered closer to the field. They have bar counter top seating closest to the field and picnic tables and some four tops. The set up for food was efficient and has both side access for two lines. They have two food buffet areas, At the time there was another company that had an event as well and had the other buffet with chicken. Drinks are served at the picnic concession counter and the women that manned it were friendly and efficient! They also have bathrooms in the picnic area which was nice! The games have fun little silly mini events to break up the monotony between innings. We happened to have great weather that day ! There was a light breeze, wasn't too hot nor humid. I recommend bringing sunglasses and or hat to help keep the sun at bay. You can look on their website regarding parking options. Lot C is the only lot you can pre- pay online for and parking for LOT C is available up until first hit at 6:30pm as long as the lot doesn't sell out prior. ($7), the other lots are first come first serve and is credit card only. I believe the park is cashless pay. Other parking options are riding the light rail or parking at MacArthur mall for free. If you have game tickets light rail rides are free 2 hours before game time.

I love the fact that the majors has their traditions in their top-notch names, but the minor league oh my God, the names of these baseball teams are hilarious so I'm just chilling and I love the fact that they put our companies name on the board for us to see and they welcome us in. There is nothing that is overly exciting to me about Club Brittany. This is a pool only, no other…read moreservices are offered and the complex is in need of improvements. The pool is located in a nice 1960-70's residential area. I am unsure when the CB complex was built, but if I had to guess in mid 70's and looks it too. Getting the area can be complicated without directions since it is so far off the beaten path. Off of Great Neck Rd. turn on Inlynview Rd. and go approximately two miles to Five Point Rd. and make a left and travel to the dead end and arrive at the pool straight ahead. Parking is almost zilch at the pool. There is some limited parking in a grass area by a storage shed to the right by an abandoned basketball court. The majority of event parking is going to be street only which ends up going down the road over a mile. Once you arrive at the pool you will walk down a steep hill to the area. The complex is located off of a body of water, however I don't know what it is. The water closest to the entrance is stagnant and looks swampy. It also creates an environment for mosquitoes on warm evenings. Bring bug spray. The wooden blue building that houses restrooms is the first building you will see. The larger building beside it houses storage, concessions. Neither one are falling down by any stretch, but they are not great shape. The pool is rectangular with a bump out for a 5 meter spring board. This is the only pool among VBSL teams that I am aware of offering a high dive. This makes it very desirable for children and for good reason. The high dive is one of the biggest draws the pool has. The small deck is a combination of concrete close to the road and wood beside the body of water. There is also deck to the far end as you enter, just not very much of it making for chaotic dual swim meets when larger teams are competing. The pool offers a five lane 25 meter course for competition. At the shallow end around 4 ft deep, under the diving area approximately 10 feet. The pool is now open and ready for members, swim team practices and meets . Club Brittany is a member of the Virginia Beach Swim League and are the "Blue Tide: I only know one of the coaches who is awesome. They are lucky to have Carol Withus hopefully on staff again who is the ODU Swimming and Diving Head Coach. I have not heard to date if she is returning, but believe she will. A warming to parents with small children that cannot swim. The body of water just outside of the pool is not supervised by staff. YOU must watch you children, the water is only a few feet, but enough to cause a tragedy. Children that can swim should never play in this area. The water is disgustingly murky. The club needs facility upgrades to bring it up to par. However, it is up and going and meets my minimum standards and is safe. If I resided in the neighborhood this pool would be a great choice due to it's proximity.

Lineberry Park is a quiet, small neighborhood park. It has a playground, a very small field, and…read moresmall wooded areas with established trees. The park is mostly clean overall. It isn't excessively busy but has a continuous flow of families in and out. -- The Playground -- The playground area with wood chip mulch is best for elementary school aged children. The equipment is in generally good condition; with close supervision it's good for younger children (note that there are moderate gaps in the openings along the playground system). The highest slide feels a bit unstable. There are baby/toddler swings and regular swings, which are pretty high off the ground for children. There's also numerous climbing options. The playground is in full shade; the shade is mostly from sweetgum (gumball) trees, so I wouldn't recommend it for pets. -- Benches & Pavilions -- There is one pavilion with one picnic table beneath it. There is a trash can not far from it and another can in the parking lot. There are a few benches along the perimeter of the playground. -- Walking Areas & Accessibility -- There are no paths or walking areas within the park, except for the paved path from the parking lot to the pavilion that ends just before the playground. Lineberry Park has a ramp to access the play structure to make it more accessible to people with differing abilities. -- Sporting Equipment -- There are no other equipment options other than the playground. -- Amenities -- There is only a portable toilet (no plumbing), so not ideal for a long visit. -- Parking -- There is a gravel parking lot owned by the city and designated for the park. There's one handicapped accessible parking spot and other unmarked spots. -- Things to Note -- It is behind St. Francis Episcopal Church. Other than the fence by the parking lot, the perimeter of the park is a moderate ditch. There is no fence or physical boundary between the park and the neighboring properties, but a few of the houses have their own fences. It's not right next to water, but there's water slightly further down on S. Rosemont Rd, so with that and the shade, mosquitoes are a moderate issue. -- Takeaways -- This is nice, somewhat older neighborhood park not far from S. Rosemont Rd. The main attraction is its playground. If you are in the area and armed with bug spray, it's worth a visit for children. I wouldn't suggest traveling out of your way for it though as there are lots of other parks in VB to enjoy, many with more offerings.

The student rec center is a HUGE sports center that caters to students and members of the community…read moreof all abilities. All activities are scheduled so don't forget to check the ODU web site before venturing over. From the pool to the locker rooms everything is kept neat and clean. There is ample parking here but it may be a short walk to the facility. There is so much to see and do at the SRC. There is always a practice, or game happening. I'm not sure if there's a parking lot near this place but I just park at the garage where the parking office is, it should be a 5-10 min walk(Walking with friends talking gossip stuff maybe 20 mins lol). The check-in process was fast, for first-timers, you'll have to go to the desl and they'll show you how to register, as I remember you have to put your hands on the check-in thing 3 times then you're good to go. Well they'll teach you. After that you just have to punch in your UIN then put your hands on the check-in thing then you're good to go. I didn't have time to use the machines but they look amazing and new, and there is a big variety of machines. There's also a track on the secomd floor for people to jog. And there's a swimming pool, a climbing wall(not always open, look for the schedule online), many rooms for classes(some of them are free, look for them online), squash rackets etc. There's a place where you can rent all the equipment to play, I came here to play basketball so I rent a basketball, and it is a Nike. The reason I took one star off is because of the basketball court. Although it is huge and I like how they put a thing to block the farthest court so the intense games on the other side won't worry about us the chill people having our ball rolling into their court, the floor is slippery, which means it is dirty. The floor is also weird because the ball won't bounce back, I guess they are some cheap materials. Overall, it is a good recreation center to workout, especially it's free for students so you cannot ask for more.
