I'm on Medicare & have a Supplemental that pays everything that Medicare doesn't. When calling about the bill, I learned that TPW had become a division of Mid-Atlantic Women's Care. The new corporation totally changed everything about the operational aspects of the company, They required a total examination, whether one needed it or just came for a minor testing. Patients on Medicare were expected to pay the full amount out of pocket. Both my doctor and I appealed to the office manager that neither of us knew of the change. The front desk person who checked me in also wasn't fully aware of the change. The office manager appealed to their new corporate and assured me that they would offer a credit, since neither I or my doctor were aware of the change, But the bills continued to come, I finally gave up on their making good on the promise and paid the bill. This year when my appointment time was near I received a letter indicating the cost. A signatory of confirmation was required. I canceled the appointment, The acquisition of TPW by Mid-Atlantic Women's Care has ruined the practice for older women. I'm sure for young or middle aged women it's still a wonderful practice. Last year, I became pregnant and came back for my obstetric care. I'm over 35 so there was a lot of testing, blood tests, ultrasounds, and referrals to EVMS for special screenings but they handled it all with care and made it fairly easy. I've seen most of the physicians here, as a group, they prefer to rotate you around to everyone so that you hopefully have seen all the doctors who may be on call when you go into labor. Still, you will likely click with one and try to stick with that one if you can. My original doctor, Fontanares, was wonderful, but retired from deliveries at around my 4th month and passed me on to Dr. Sarah Murphy who she said she knew I would love. She was right. I saw her for the remainder and is the Dr. who ultimately delivered my baby girl at Sentara Leigh. I also liked Dr. Connor and Dr. Arbogast but really clicked with Dr. Murphy who is younger, recently had a baby herself, and is very healthy and active. We bonded over both being runners while we were pregnant and staying active late into the third trimester. Dr. Murphy is a D.O. instead of an M.D. If you're like me, you don't know the difference. This means she is a medical doctor with similar practice and education as an M.D. but is doctor of Osteopathic Medicine - meaning the main difference is a more holistic mind/body overall approach to care of patients instead of the M.D. more treat the illness type of approach. Ok, sign me right up! That's exactly what I wanted for my pregnancy/delivery experience and is just what I received. I 100% had the delivery that I wanted. I wanted to remain active, wear a wireless heart monitor for the baby, walk around, wait to get the epidural and stay informed and make choices the entire way. We worked on a plan for induction and scheduled it for a day she was on call. Luckily, my induction/labor only lasted 12 hours and I delivered at 3:49am when her shift was ending at around 8am! We pulled it off. I feel grateful to have had her as my physician for perhaps the biggest medical event of any woman's life - she was a real gem who treated me with respect and as a partner in this event. She listened to me, made sure I was heard, took the time to answer all questions, is very personable and down to earth, everything I wanted. I've heard so many horror stories that I wanted to share a very positive birth experience and positive experience with this practice! I'm sad that I will likely not see her again as I see an oncologist for BRCA/Cancer screening but, if I am released, I will come back!

I went to the bathroom and it didn't smell the same in there, the bathroom actually smelled better. Lol. Confusing. She checked in and was given her paperwork to complete, and was called back within 8 minutes. There was supposed to be a small procedure done but she was advised they didn't have the device so she'd have to schedule another appointment. My issue is why if they knew the device wasn't available, why not call and reschedule with the patient?? Other than that, the appointment went fine. She said the Dr was nice and tried to keep her comfortable!! The staff was friendly and the office was clean. Check them out!!

They now recommend too many unnecessary tests and biopsies that cost thousands of dollars and go straight to the deductible. This has left me feeling frustrated, untrusting, and disappointed. I no longer have a reliable OB-GYN I can turn to, someone who knows my history and offers thoughtful care before jumping to procedures. Being in my mid-60s, I know I need good care, but sadly, I won't find it at this practice. To make matters worse, most women's health practices in Tidewater have merged into one physician group. Their approach seems clear: more tests, more procedures, and less personalized care. Trust your gut feeling - take care and be aware of what I shared.

We had a good conversation and shared a few laughs. This also helped keep me calm before the dreaded exam. Next I was called to De. Pascioni's office. She was so warm and cheerful. She took her time and explained different things with me and wrote info down for me. The exam was so quick and thorough that I didn't even feel like anything took place. Everyone acted as though we had been friends for year, with a professional side of course. If I could give them a 10 I would.

She's smart, kind, patient, great listener, compassionate, professional, knowledgeable, respectful, gentle, empathetic, honest, sweet...I can go on and on! She is really (sincerely) interested in your/my health concerns, feelings/emotions, and wants to truly know how you feel. Dr. Harris-Proctor does not rush the appointment. She takes her time to discuss matters with you. It seems that she does not want her patients to leave her office confused or with unanswered questions. I love her!!!! I wasn't excited about coming to the dr (but, again who is?!). I've been needing to find new doctors and found Dr. Harris-Proctor online during an internet search. I thought about the qualities that I need and want in a dr and she matched them all! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Harris-Proctor and her nurse (Nurse Dianne)!! They are fabulous! Quick review of the office (building, parking, reception area, exam rooms, reception desk, and corridors): it's clean, smells fresh, and very comfortable. Tons of parking. Staff are friendly and kind. The ultrasound nurse (Amy) was/is so sweet and gentle (as much as she can be). I wanted to give 4.5 but I don't know how. Why?? Well, there is a bit of a waiting time and that is because of the time they take to care for each patient. So, please don't be in a rush. Bring a book or be the first patient.

I can say there were two that I absolutely disliked, from their condescending attitudes to their awful bedside manners. I thankfully never saw them again, and neither were on rotation for my birth. Dr. Butts, whom I didn't see during my pregnancy, delivered my baby. She was great. Very calm, and professional. I actually really liked her, and I'm glad she was the one who delivered my baby. I had a great experience. The front desk girls are helpful and kind, and though some were training, they immediately went and asked others for help when they weren't sure. When trying to make an appointment or reach the office, I wouldn't try calling after 4, because very rarely did I get someone to answer.

So I had an induction 5/8/25 and the staff was amazing on the 3rd floor. Nurses Sydney Overton and Taylor Abrams were my nurses and they made sure all of my needs and questions were catered to - that being my first induction out of my three kids. They called my doctor when I had questions or needed permission to start epi or pitocin. The anesthesiologist came to my room for my epi promptly, another came back to increase my dose when active labor started and it got intolerable. They reminded my husband post birth to visit the cafeteria for food before it closed at 3 am (I gave birth @0121). The upstairs, 4th floor wasn't as good of an experience with the nurses - it seems like that's where they put the underdogs bc they seemed not to be able to handle as much pressure or needs of a laboring woman just from my experience with them. Some were too timid and hovered, some were too direct when their opinion wasn't asked for, but I had great experience with the housekeeping and chefs who made sure I ordered food and got my food timely and made sure my room was cleaned. The coffee was actually great from the floor and drinks and snacks were stocked. The food from the cafeteria was great! I had oatmeal, chicken parm, broccoli, Mac n cheese, chicken tenders, fried fish, curly fries at different times. Overall, I had a great experience for the first time out of my 3 kids (I gave birth at NMCP with the first two so my standards are probably very low) and I'm grateful. I've seen horrific reviews too and I am sorry to those women. To anyone who may be seeking to deliver here, I hope you are treated as well as I was. I know some mothers are scared of a terrible experience, but come in with an open mind and friendliness and you may be treated so well.

I decided to stay with the practice for my first visit with Whibley. There clearly was a scheduling issue because they didn't have my appointment recorded. Front office staff was smug and unapologetic. Dr. Whibley was asked if she could try to fit me in, and from behind the half wall I heard a voice say something about not taking 'walk-ins' (as if this were what, a clinic? The hair cuttery? I've been going there for years!) The receptionist came from around the half wall and said the doctor couldn't, she had a meeting. The fact they were unapologetic and smug is what put me over the edge, to be clear. I looked in my phone log to see when I communicated with the office, which turned out to be a day the office was closed- my error- that was then not the day the appointment was scheduled. I have several record of calls to and from that office this summer, I chose the wrong one, as I soon found out. The office called me...yes CALLED ME as I got into my car to say I can't blame them because the date from my phone log I provided was a day the office was closed, so there's no way I made the appointment that day. I cancelled my rescheduled appointment right then and will not be going there. I received email notification later that day that my online medical record had been deleted. I've never actually met Dr. Whibley, and I never will. I'm glad others find her to be worth the their time. But you may want to check and double check and call and text and email and snail mail to make sure they actually recorded the appointment they gave you over the phone.

You can tell that she cares deeply about her patients; her office is covered in hundreds of Christmas cards and photos of her patients' growing babies. Dr. Whibley and her staff make you feel comfortable and take time to get to know you. I'm so glad I found her!
