Absolutely love every single staff member! I love Dr. Burfoot because she's very sarcastic but in a fun and educational way. I've learned so much from her! Omg Dr. Sample is so bubbly but very professional and she makes you feel very comfortable. Then the wonderful Midwife Mrs. Wendy Graefe, absolutel stellar. She welcomes me every time with a smile, very straightforward with any questions I may have and she always give examples or explanations on her reasoning. This team compliments each other very well. I've been a patient since I was 16 and I am now 26. With two little babies, Dr. Burfoot delivered my 1st and the Dr. Sample delivered my 2nd, both very smooth experiences. Love this Obgyn. read more

I've been going here since I was pregnant in 2019. Dr. Burford is the best doctor hands down. However, the customer service has really went down. No communication, never answers the phone. Takes weeks just to send over you records and results. I'm still waiting from 7/15/26!! It's Just gotten ridiculous honestly! I'm highly disappointed read more

I am deeply disappointed in my recent experience with this practice. Healthcare requires timely communication, especially when medications are cycle-dependent. On multiple occasions, I called during business hours and encountered voicemail messaging stating the office was at lunch and would return at 1:30 PM -- despite it being well past that time. Messages left by phone and through the patient portal went unanswered for over three days. Because of this delay, I missed a time-sensitive medication window on the third day of my cycle and lost an entire treatment cycle. There was no proactive follow-up, contingency plan, or problem-solving offered to prevent it from happening again. Additionally concerning, an unfamiliar diagnosis appeared in my online chart. When I questioned it, I was told the provider "forgot which patient" they were with and would delete it. Accurate documentation is fundamental to patient safety and trust. This practice also delivered two of my children during complicated pregnancies. At the time, I believed the complications were simply unfortunate. After my recent experiences, I am now questioning whether broader process issues may exist. I hope the practice evaluates its staffing levels, communication standards, and documentation processes. Patients deserve timely responses, accurate records, and collaborative follow-through -- especially in a medical setting. read more

As of January this year, this office has another new location. I visited a few weeks ago and this space is super huge. I still see Dr. Burfoot and I so love her! I was in and out of the office in less than 30 minutes. This was definitely record time that I can get used too when visiting the doctor. Not sure if she is accepting new patients, but if you are looking for an OBGYN check her out. This new location has parking all around the building. read more

Dr. Burfoot is the best! I used to go to her while in high school and started back when i returned to Hampton Roads almost over 15 years later. Office is nice and very clean. Staff are friendly and professional. read more

My appointment was at 4:00pm i called the office twice to let them know there was traffic and how long it would be then when I arrived they told me the dr Wendy Graefe refused to take my appointment i think it's rude i drove all the way from Virginia Beach the two front office ladies that answered my call should have told me not to come . This place is a joke ! And im a LONG time patient ! read more

I have bee to this office twice so far. Dr. Sample was very friendly and took time to listen to all my concerns. I didn't feel like I was rushed out. Office is very large and clean. They could use some color and paintings in the waiting room instead of bare walls but it is my understanding this is their new location so perhaps in time they'll add a little warmth to the decor. I had an ultrasound second visit with Karen and she was so nice and informative. I haven't had to wait long for either visit so far but I haven't been there enough time to establish any kind of norm. Will update my review after some time but so far I am pleased. read more

Soon after roe v Wade was overturned I went looking for a doctor who could sterilize me and give me the freedom that was taken from me. This OBGYN gave me my freedom and peace of mind back. From start to finish the staff here were nothing but kind, understanding, and professional. Dr Sample is an amazing person and doctor who handled my case with the care of a true professional. I highly recommend her to anyone no matter what path they chose be it childless or a full house. read more

Dr Sample is AMAZING!!!!! I've been going to her for over 10 years. I would definitely recommend her or the office period.

I have been going to Elite Women's health care since 2020 when I first found out I was pregnant with mine and my husband's first son. EWC was at their old location and I saw Dr. Macfarlane initially. I was not a fan of how rushed I felt being seen by her but come my next appointment, after they moved to their new location, I was seen by Dr. Sample, Dr. Burfoot and their midwife, Wendy Graefe over the course of the rest of my pregnancy. I LOVED being seen and cared for by all of them. They took their time listening to my questions and doing their best to accommodate my auditory processing issue which causes me to misunderstand words or just plain not hear them. It was especially comforting knowing that either of those three women would be with me in the delivery room at Sentara Leigh. While I have waited some time after scheduled appointments, I'm gaining a better understanding that these lovely doctors are almost always on call for their patients about to give birth. An appointment of mine was rescheduled to the following day because Dr. Sample had to rush to a delivery. Totally understandable!! Dr. Burfoot removed my mirena this month so my husband and I can start trying for baby number 2 and I'm thrilled that the staff of EWC will be apart of this coming journey, again! :) read more

I was 30 minutes early for my appointment and then proceeded to have to wait another hour past my scheduled appointment time to even be brought to a room-where I then waited another 20 minutes. I have two small babies and have to organize my time to be able to go to doctors appointments. This business needs to organize their time way better. read more

Doctors are absolutely wonderful, Beth in billing is rude and unprofessional. She doesn't have an ounce of human empathy. She thinks being professional includes hanging up the phone on frustrated customers. She also enjoys complaining to said customers that "she inherited a mess" and not to blame the messenger. As much as I would like to understand her she is being paid to deal with the inherited mess so I expect it done professionally. Update*** not only is Beth rude and unprofessional And believes it is acceptable to hang up on clients her other office associate Erin also believes that is acceptable behavior. These two "professionals" need extensive customer service training and they should be embarrassed by their childish behavior! read more

Dr. Burfoot and the staff are awesome. I never have a long wait. The staff are always courteous and professional. Dr. Burfoot never rushes the appointment and always takes time to discuss issues and answer my questions. She's hands down the best ob-gyn that I've experienced. I've been nothing less than satisfied with the service I have received over the past 5 years and will continue to recommend Elite Women's Care to others. read more

If I could give this place No Stars I would. This place is awful, the staff are very unprofessional, especially Lindsey. They don't know how to talk to their patients and they always have some excuses for how they do what they do when they mess up. They can't even fill out FMLA paperwork and do that with good customer service. Their main concern is money with everything and they put that first before your needs and concerns. I am not staying her and I am going to my original Dr. to deliver my baby. Run as fast as you can!!!!!! read more

My visit with elite woman's care very nice! I waited about 10 minutes for my name to be called after filling out some paper work. I had no trouble finding the building & office. My visit was with Dr . Burfoot . She was very kind! My only complaint was that the room was hot, but then again it could've been me being pregnant lol. I go in again next week for an ultrasound I'm excited !! I left the visit with a bag of goodies for the baby & myself! Also the staff was very nice !! Idk what the other people in the reviews are talking about lol read more

I love Dr. Burfoot. But my last 2 visits were with Dr. Graefe! She has excellent bedside manners and is such a pleasure to speak with. She was very informative and took the time to really explain care options. I would recommend her she's so nice!!! read more

Switched over from Boone to Elite for prenatal care. It was the best decision ever. Dr B was amazing from the care to the delivery. She makes you feel super comfortable during both care with her upbeat personality! But let me talk to about my delivery with Dr. B! Dr. B knows what she is doing and does it flawlessly. She made sure my delivery went as smooth as possible which it did and she made it fun. We joked about me pushing out an 8lb baby and long behold I did. I would definitely come back to get prenatal care from her if I was to ever get pregnant again (never!!!) lol Con: Do not schedule any appts with Dr McFarlene she'll make you wait 45 minutes in the room for her for a quick 5 min check up. Not once but three times she did that. read more

i couldnt say enough great things about dr. sample. she is amazing and loves her job and helping women. she made sure i was well educated for my surgery and what my options were and took the time, her bedside manners are amazing and i felt at ease and comfortable with her from day one. everyone at the practice is so nice and caring, not sure why the previous reviews were bad but im not going anywhere else. love dr. sample!! read more

Check in process always smooth and welcoming. Testing has been efficient. Took them a while to give me back my PCOS results but it was my doctor who kind of blew me! I understand how resources are distributed and that this facility is obviously for lower income people so I'm sure they have more a lot more patients to "help" but I did not feel helped at all by my dr. She was very brusque, almost as if she didn't want to expand on what she was saying, felt like I was being rushed out and when I left I knew nothing more of my condition to be honest. I was better off on and knew more beforehand! She pretty much gave me the choices birth control or nah! I told her about my reservations about Bc which I'm sure EVERYONE knows about and she blew it off like don't believe everything you read! Like thanks? Anyway like I said the testing is what really helped me because it gave me all my levels so I'm able to take matters into my own hands and heal myself or go to a natural healer who takes the time to know you, empathize and actually help! So all in all, with resources taken into consideration and my whole experience, don't think I'll go back but I'm sure there are worse (and better) places to go! read more

I love Dr. Burfoot! It was really hard for me to find a doctor I was comfortable seeing, but she is professional and really cares about her patients. read more

This is probably the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced in my LIFE. This isn't spam or just someone who likes to give bad reviews. But seriously, it has taken this office 3 days just to get in touch with the nurse to change my prescription. Not only did they bill me for a wrong check up, which I'm still waiting for the correct bill btw, their staff is completely incompetent and rude. The front desk girls answer your call and just immediately place you on hold. NO ONE EVER CALLS YOU BACK, and they NEVER do what their supposed to do. I had to call my insurance company NUMEROUS times bc they didn't want to or told me I had to do it and get information. At some point I refused to do this anymore bc that's not my job, ITS THEIRS! This place is horrible, and I don't even want to give them a star AT ALL! read more

I requested Dr. sample to be my doctor on May 1 and gave all of my transfer records by May 5th i was told in a week someone would review them and set up a appointment , it's now May 28 I have not heard back every time I call to check they act rude over the phone and say they will call back and no one ever calls back , they know was 29 weeks at the time now I'm 32 weeks and I don't have a appointment or even a valid reason why they have yet to book me a appointment. read more

Dr Burfoot is great. She really explains things and asks great questions. She is gentle and kind. I have these appointments but I really like this office. read more

TERRIBLE! This office failed to check my thyroid and blood sugars throughout my pregnancies. The specialist I am seeing now finds it hard to believe I could have went through an entire pregnancy and these issues not been noticed ( unless the tests weren't being performed). I had one yeast infection after another and Dr. Burfoot just kept prescribing medications for over a year. It was BC I had uncontrolled diabetes! Since then, they have sent me two nasty notices via mail that says they refuse to have me as a patient and all appointments would be cancelled BC I did not consent to Dr. Burfoot running a colposcopy operation on me due to one abnormal pap done at Elite Women's Care. I said I'd like a repeat test in 6/months. But guess what, pap totally normal now! Surprise, surprise. This office is NOT elite at all. read more

If you want things done in a timely manner or need tlc while pregnant this isn't the place for you. This place in my opinion is understaffed and over booked, they are slack at their turn around time on processing anything, if they do it at all. I've had to constantly leave messages for the same thing although I'm high risk pregnant. If you question anything, other then what they want to do you will be given attitude, if you complain about the turn around time, you will be met with a defensive attitude. I've been told twice if I don't like it I can go some place else and I am... but now I have to wait on them to fax my medical records on their own precious time. As someone stated in a earlier review, Lindsey did get rude with me also, as well as DR. B, I dealt with it because I was desperate to save my babies life, and didn't know how to speak up to such an aggressive staff. I don't feel there is enough passion in their work ethics, I feel there is more ego then anything. I feel very uncomfortable returning back so I will not, I am high risk and need my medical record faxed over ASAP to my new doctor and they can't give me a time as to when it will take place. They really need to get their stuff together before they completely ruin their reputation, I was Reffered sadly by two people and they are both upset at what has taken place. read more

This place is a money grab and insurance companies need to take a closer look. First off I was charged $40 for my copay which is $30. My very simple procedure should've been performed in one visit but they wanted to make it a consultation even all diagnostic imaging was done and options were discussed. I asked before hand if a nurse or doctor could call ahead of the appointment but I guess they couldn't be bothered with that either. If you don't mind going to four appointments for something that could be done in two then this is the place for you! read more

The WORST care I have ever received at a doctors office hands down. The doctor I saw (Burfoot) was nice and did her work correctly, or so I thought. I went to Virginia Beach OB GYN recently and they told me the birth control in my arm was put in wrong (by Burfoot). The reception staff at Elite is AWFUL. Uncaring, did the bare minimum if even that. Made my appointment for a year later the first time I went and never received a call email text nothing to remind me that I had the appointment. When I called to ask why they didn't remind me, they didn't seem to care. I asked to see a different doctor in the office because the doctor I originally saw was booked for a month and I was desperate to get my birth control removed (which they only do one day a week ) , after I sat on hold for 10 minutes, she said she was going to take my number down and call me back. It's almost 2 months later and I haven't received a call. Avoid this place at all costs. I would rate it 0 stars if I could. read more

Extremely long wait times, poor bedside manner, and terribly unorganized billing department

Front desk and insurance department are uneducated with the entitlements of the patient insurance they accept. They provided me incorrect information on my insurance. Since I had to call and verify what my insurance covered for the office staff it went past my appointment time, so they wanted me to reschedule. I got shoved off and no help for them. I left work early since they cancelled my first 2 appointments. Based on the office staff alone I will not be returning. I was never seen by a doctor. read more

My appointments started out good however my husband didn't like it there and didn't want to stress me because we were 7 months pregnant. Precautions weren't taken that should have been taken being anemic and pregnant. After I delivered my son naturally, Dr. Burfoot cleaned out the afterbirth, sowed me up and then left to go back to her office ACROSS the street. After being cleaned up, I got out of the bed my vision started deteriorating quickly so my sister and nurse quickly laid me back down. Dr. Burfoot was called back to the hospital but didn't arrive until 45 MINUTES LATER as my body was almost by then in shock because she didn't get all of the afterbirth out so therefore the afterbirth clots on your own blood and barely leaves you with any. I think it was the nurse who actually went back inside of me to get the rest of the afterbirth out because Dr. Burfoot didn't come right away and needless to say I had to get blood transfusions. I had to be admitted to ICU to get the treatment I needed thanks to my mother in law and sister that laid Dr. Burfoot out because she was dragging her feet. The next time I saw Dr. Burfoot was 4 days later when she finally checked on me and asked if I wanted to be discharged. We actually left after 8pm to go home. read more

(Portsmouth, VA) I'm a very fair person and I'm not a complainer. In fact, this is my first time ever writing a review of any kind. My last couple of visits with Dr. Keisha Burfoot have been so bad that I just had to share. I continued to go back thinking maybe it was an isolated incident and maybe it would get better. It didn't. I've never been spoken to by a doctor like that before. I have been leaving my appointments feeling passively bullied and very disrespected by the things Dr. Burfoot says: calling me "a baby", saying "I'm glad I don't have to perform this on you anymore", angrily asking me "Do you want me to more forward or not?!" (right in the middle of a procedure that she clearly could see was scary for me), etc. Her bedside manner has been awful, to say the least. She exhibited no compassion for doing her job nor for me as a patient as ALL doctors should. I actually began to DREAD going in for my appointments and would have to mentally prepare myself. Over the last 5 years or so, I've come all the way in twice for a scheduled appointment and was told she wasn't even there and that I would have to reschedule. Although I did understand that she has to also deliver babies, I would have appreciated the respect of a simple office call, as I'm sure the other patients would've as well. On 2 other occasions, I've come in and my appointment was cancelled. I was told by office staff "We tried to call you." I came in once and was told she was on vacation and "We tried to call you". I have no such calls in my phone. There's no chance that I missed all 5 calls and only her calls. Also, my calls have rarely been returned. I just read some of the other reviews and realized that some of my complaints are similar to other patients' and are patterns and ongoing. This is such a reckless medical practice. I've truly gotten much better service and care at Burger King. If you're looking for an OB/GYN, I very highly recommend that you choose another practice. Because of the severe lack of compassion, there doesn't seem to be such a thing as a valued patient (there's always another pregnant patient to replace you), and there seems to be absolutely no intention to fix the problems, I will no longer patronize Dr. Burfoot and Elite Women's Care. Now, the only problem is that I can't get them to fax my medical records to my new OB/GYN. read more

I had the quickest and most efficient visit at Elite Women's Care. I was seen quickly after arriving and received excellent care from Dr. McFarlane. She was informative and suggestive on ways to improve my over all health. The entire staff is knowledgeable, and professional and I certainly reccomend this office to any women looking for suggested women's care professionals. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I tried switching to this OBGYN after a friend of mine recommended them. I brought them my medical records and was told to give them a week to review it and they would call me to make an appointment. After making several calls to get an idea of what was going on the woman who was apparently in charge of it NEVER called me back. After two weeks (a Thursday morning)I drove back to the office to get more information as to what was going on and they still weren't done and said they would call me at the beginning of the next week (Wednesday at The latest). Well, Wednesday (Yesterday) I decided to drive back up there because I hadn't heard anything and they said they STILL weren't done reviewing my medical records. After three weeks! They wanted more time. I demanded my records back and I took them to another OBGYN in Virginia Beach as soon as I left and this morning the new OBGYN office called me to let me know they were done reviewing my file and scheduled my appointment!!!! That is how you take care of patients!!! read more

Wish I could leave separate reviews for Dr. and staff, but I can't. Loved Dr. Burfoot, but staff leaves much to be desired. Love to see young black women taking care of young black women, but it takes a special skill set to work in healthcare. Front desk: grade D- I asked for directions once I got lost in the quagmire of nondescript buildings with no street addresses listed on them. I received no assistance just a name of a building which was tucked away far from the 6171 building. When I arrive I was given a board to sign, and said board sat in the same window for 20 minutes. I was given paperwork 30 minutes after signing the clipboard. Long story short my vitals were taken at 5:00 pm one hour after my appointment time and I didn't see Dr. Burfoot until 6. I left at 6:30 ( thanks to Dr. Burfoot's awesome hands and bedside manner. Wish I could clone the doctor into about seven mini versions who could answer phones , take vitals etc. Thankfully, Dr Burfoot's a phenomenal physician who supersedes and outshines her supporting "actresses". read more

Front staff are not friendly and not the most professional. The doctor I saw, Dr Macfarland, was nothing to write home about. I wanted to speak with her after an appointment just to check my bp, and was told I would have to pay for the 5 minutes. I paid a copay just for her to say that she didn't think I was having a severe enough reaction to the birth control to change. Horrible. I had an appointment scheduled and arrived on time only to be told that my appointment had been cancelled. I had not cancelled it. I asked why it was cancelled and the receptionist mumbled something to the effect that my insurance changed. It hasn't changed in three years so I told her that and she stared harder at the screen, unable to give me any kind of explanation, then unapologetically asked me when I could come back because the doctor's schedule was full. Frustrated, I reluctantly rescheduled for the following week. When I arrived, I was told that I owed a balance of $26 dollars. I explained that didn't have my bank card with me at the time and that I had previously called to make a payment, but was unable to make contact with anyone. They consulted Dr. Sample and she refused to see me if the $26 was not paid. I was livid that they never informed me that I would be refused service with a $26 balance. I spent six years working in medical offices and could not ever imagine treating a patient this way. They really need to make some changes in their customer service skills and policies if they expect to stay in business. Or maybe they don't really care and are just relying on the fact that as long as women keep having babies, they will make money. Either way, explore all other options in the area when choosing an OB/GYN. read more
