Do not go to this place. They are very deceptive. They will tell you how much and make you pay a bunch of money upfront and then will send you a bill for almost twice as much as what they said at first. The staff is no help. They just act like they don't know what you're talking about. Will not admit they gave you a price at first and changed it. While waiting in the waiting room for appointments just about everyone that came in complained about their billing. They are not there to take care of you. This was by far the worst medical appointment/doctor experience I have had in my 60 years of life. My appointment was at 3:30. I was early. Upon arrival I asked if things were running on time and was told by the receptionist that they were and I had picked a "good day". The office is very busy, yet small and dark. If you have claustrophobia this is NOT the place for you. I went back to the receptionist about 4pm and asked how long the wait would be. She told me (in a very snarky, condescending voice) that it would be "any minute now". At 4:30 I went to a different receptionist and asked how long. He apologized and explained the doctor was "now with his 3:30 appointment". I explained that I was his 3:30 appointment. The receptionist the told me the doctor had 10 minutes per patient and was "running behind". Obviously!! I saw Dr Jacobsen at 5:05 pm. He spent 1 second looking in each ear and was basically about to leave the room when I stopped him about an area of concern I had behind my ear. He touched it for 1 second, proclaimed it "was not cancer" and again tried to move on. (It never occurred to me that it WAS cancer!). I then had to stop him from leaving to discuss the Tinnitus I was there for. He prescribed a medication (that did not work). I then went back to the reception area to schedule a hearing test. The soonest was over a month away. I wanted to do it in the Gloucester office but was told I couldn't because I had to see this doctor after. The office is 1 hour (with no traffic) from my home. I spent 3.5 hours waiting for a 5 minute interaction with someone who obviously did not want to be there. I get all the issues with running a practice and the corporate pressure. This was ridiculous. When I went back to my GP for a follow up and told her my experience, she looked at the report Hampton ENT sent her and mentioned that it said there was a second test done on my ears. There wasn't. The report was false. I asked for a 2nd opinion and went to TPMG in Newport News. They scheduled a hearing test first which was done within 5 minutes of my arrival. My appointment was at 2. I was in the audio room at 2:05. At 2:20 I was in the exam room. At 2: 22 the PA, Greg Davidson was in with me. He did a COMPLETE exam in a very calm and efficient, professional manner. In the end he referred my for an ultrasound to find out what the lump is behind my ear. I don't write reviews unless it's really good, or really bad. I have been suffering with my sinus for over 20 years . I had been seen by a hand full of different ENT to no avail. Then I was referred to Hampton Roads ENT in Williamsburg, And it has been a life changing event since the first visit. After a series of tests, x-rays and medication it was determined I needed surgery. The surgery was performed and the recovery couldn't have gone any better. Now I can breathe from both sides of my nose and don't have to be dependent of medications or nasal sprays. The doctors here are awesome and their action/works show that. The entire staff made me feel welcome and comfortable from the first day I walked in during COVID . I have and will continue to recommend Hampton Road ENT In Williamsburg to any, new and or existing friends as well as any colleagues or family members. Well, here this Clinic dropped the ball again. I had a appointment this morning at 11:30 with Dr. LIPTAK. Last night I received an email reminding me of the appointment today which had followed a previous text message, both wanted me to confirm. I did. It stated to cancel an appointment, I must notify them 24 hrs in advance or they charged for a missed appointment. Well, today I arrived on time checked on and was told the Replacement Dr. for Dr. Liptak (who had relocated), was not there, today, for she had called in sick. Now I don't fault the Doctor, because sickness dosn,'t make a appointment. I told her why didn't someone call me to reschedule mine? I had gotten up early, done my pre-personal preparations, drove across town to be given this message. She stated, "she call this morning to inform us she was sick and would not be in". I then asked her if all her other patient had to come in this morning to get the message their appointment had to be rescheduled? She look perplexed. I told her a phone call is free, but my gas is $3.00 a gallon. She didn't seem concerned, but said I would receive a call next week for a reschedule. Ponder this, she never replied rather or not the others had been notified in advance. . I feel this staff was derelect in their duties by not calling me. The medical staff is fine. There has been several times that I have been left standing and waiting upon staff to check me in. Especially when I use a cane and extended standing can put me in tears from pain. I sat in the waiting area for what was supposed to be 15 minutes for 30 minutes for a check on the allergy injections for a reaction last week. I have noticed for a few months of the reaction of other patients just like myself when they are called by their first name. By staff old enough to be my children. I spoke with the office manager last week about this. It is such a disrespect to hear a 70 year old person being called by their first name. I worked in customer service settings for many years this is a customer and not my personal friend. I brought this up via telephone last week. Today, I was called by my first name, again. Even after expressing this. Do you call the doctor by his first name? No it would be unprofessional. So be professional with your patient. read more

I have had some throat issues for a while. I was recommended to this practice. The front staff seem fine although ignored some patients. My first appointment was so scary. The nurse took my vitals and wrote down my symptoms. Then comes over to me, holds my head back, turns on a machine, and shoots liquid into my nose. I was never told this was going to happen. Didn't even know what it was. I freaked out. She did tell me I would become numb in a few minutes. That never really happened. Dr. Howard came in and asked the same questions as the nurse. Then proceeded to hold my head down and stick a scope of some sort into my nose. It was sooooo painful. I was not numb and cried out a few times. The dr was spouting off all these medical terms and didn't really speak to me. The nurse wrote down what he was saying. After that horrible experience, the dr told me I have a deviated septum and something called silent reflux. Well, his exact words were "I wouldn't bet the house but I'd bet a hundred bucks that's what you have" :-/ Didn't sound too confident. So I was prescribed some meds for the reflux. I made an appointment to come back in a month to check to see how the meds are working. A few weeks later I get a bill from my insurance. Turns out that nose procedure isn't covered by my insurance. It was $300 out of pocket!!! They never even checked to see if it was covered and I didn't know it was going to happen. Ugh! Went back a month later and they wanted to do the nose thing again. I refused and said my insurance doesn't cover it. They seemed shocked. Maybe check next time!! Well, the meds did NOTHING. Dr. Howard prescribed a different medicine. A month later, that one didn't work either. This went on for 4 months straight of different meds. The last appointment I went in crying because I am so miserable. The dr wanted to do an mri because I "might have a mass" on my neck. I have a recent mri from something else and he said that wasn't good enough. Ridiculous. He told me he doesn't know what's wrong with me and sent me on my way. Don't go to this practice if you have anything other than seasonal allergies. Also, beware of the nose spray thing that may not be covered by your insurance. read more

The medical staff is top notch, and my ENT physician is skilled, attentive, knowledgeable about my specific condition, and never treats me like a statistic. Awful experience at Hampton Roads ENT. Dr. John Howard is by far, the most unprofessional doctor I have ever come in contact with. Front desk and medical staff seem to have no knowledge of actual services performed in their office. Called to make an appointment for my child, told the woman who answered the phone that I had talked to my insurance company and they had given me HRENT's number but I still wasn't sure if this was the right place to be calling for what I was looking for. I explained our situation to her and she assured me that I was indeed calling the right place. She asked very few questions...just personal and insurance info and if there was a referring doctor to which I replied NO. We got to the appointment 15 minutes early then waited 30 minutes to be taken to a room. Once again I went over everything with the doctor's assistant. The assistant even chatted with me about her own experience as a child and how much better she felt after having the same services we thought my child would be evaluated for once we saw the doctor. That alone was extremely bizarre considering what happened once Howard arrived in the room. Another 30 minutes goes by, Dr Howard walks through the door with no introduction and emphatically states that they DO NOT provide the services my child needs there. He was defensive, condescending and rude. Kept making excuses for the front desk staff. Even had the audacity to say the terminology I used while making the appt was confusing for them and they actually do something similar there but it's by referral only. In his words, "The front desk staff aren't doctors so how would they know we don't provide that service here?" and "I would have made your appointment myself if I had talked to you over the phone!" Whaaaat???? But you just said those appts were by referral only and I had no referral. And apparently, the patient is required to have some type of medical experience when they call his office for an appt because otherwise you may confuse his staff and possibly even Dr Howard with your words! Make it make sense! The whole situation was embarrassing and troubling. Dr. Howard did a great job of making not only me, but my child feel as if we were somehow at fault for what had occurred. When we left my child asked if we had done something wrong because the doctor was upset with us. What a horrible man. read more

Dr. Howard is highly educated and shows compassion. His staff is very well trained and versed on all aspects of what he is doing. It was a genuinely good experience including surgery. Everything was planned and executed with percision. I don't like anyone touching my face and I do not like using the sinus rinse but just as he explained it - it made me feel better. I now choose to do it even when I don't have to. Dr. Howard will be seeing my entire family for the same procedure. read more

PLEASE, DO NOT GO HERE. Dr. Jacobson preformed an operation which turned out an absolute failure! My problem was worse than before the surgery and has caused me pain and discomfort once it healed. His methods for recovery are archaic and outdated to say the least. His office staff is very stale and unhelpful, usually about one hour behind schedule. I know 3 other people who had the same procedure done by Hampton Roads ENT, 3 of them with Dr. Jacobson. Two out of the three surgeries were failures(not including mine), one resulting in hospitalization two weeks after the surgery and repacking of the nose. I, myself had to get the same procedure done, and opted for a plastic surgeon this time who was extremely successful. When I had my post-op appointment, Dr. Patterson couldn't even tell me what surgery I had done as my septum was already severely (more than pre-surgery) deviated to the side. I was given no comforting words, just a bottle of nasal spray and another bill. Please, I beg of you, do not go to this practice. You will regret it. You will be sold a product you don't need only to find that your problem is now worse than before. I will do everything in my power to stop others from experiencing the pain and drawn out agony I endured. read more

Brought my son to this business to fix a broken nose, probably won't be back. Waiting room was packed when we went, not a great thing for cold and flu season. Dr. Jacobson told me he could operate on my son but somehow neglected to mention he was going on vacation immediately after we first saw him. Staff ranges from moderately unhelpful to downright prickly. I was told that if they close the office because of weather they won't bother to call me to reschedule--I'll have to check the status of their office on their Facebook page. Sigh--these guys could really learn a thing or two about customer service. One bright spot--Dr. Howard performed the procedure to fix my son's deviated septum; he was helpful, considerate, and thorough. Dr. Howard has no control over unprofessional and immature office manager and Audiologist. I purchased new hearing aids and Dr. Rose (Audiologist) gave me a price of 6290 after she cleared it with my insurance to cover 5000.00. I paid the 1290.00. Received new hearing aids. Upon pickup of the hearing aids, I was told I owed another 600.00, I stated I paid the agreed upon 1290.00 already, that's what the paperwork stated. No other mention of it and I left. I received a bill for the 600. I received the explanation of benefits from my insurance stating the discounted rate for Optima members is 2850.00 for my hearing aids. I inquired, why did I have to pay the 1290 if Optima members get a discounted price of 2850.20. Well under my 5000.00 limit. I got all kinds of answers, all of which should come as standard service with hearing aids. I called Optima and had them include April (The Williamsburg Office Manager), in on the call. Optima explained how it worked and April stated, "that's not true" and the conversation got a little heated. I could not get a knowledgeable agreed upon answer, April stated, Mr. Blaze would you like to return the hearing aids, and I stated yes. I then receive a call from Dr. Rose stating I could not return the hearing aids. I asked her if she was informed about what was going on and I told her multiple times I was not upset or irritated with her. I told Dr. Rose, I had permission from April to return the hearing aids, Dr. Rose stated, "She said she unequivocally did not", I told Dr. Rose I have it recorded, and the Optima rep knows. Dr. Rose. said one more thing and hung up. I went to the Hamton office and spoke with the financial manager Sharon, I was planning on turning the hearing aids into her, I didn't want to deal with the Williamsburg staff. Sharon stated the paperwork at the Williamsburg office was filled out incorrectly. appreciated all her help. I contacted my employer insurance coordinator who was able to have a rep that deals specifically with the Doctor's offices call me. She explained everything in detail. The Williamsburg office stated they could not get the pricing Optima and the Doctors office agreed on before policies are even offered for the market. This was not true; Hamton Roads ENT has a rep they deal with from Optima. They should have had the coding/pricing information available to me when I purchased the hearing aids or all the Office Manager had to do was call Optima and there is a line specifically for the Doctor's office to call to speak with reps to get the information. I called to make an appointment with Dr. Rose due to my left hearing aid not working even though I was still deciding to keep them or not. I had no issue with Dr. Rose. I called and Katie (Dr. Rose's assistant) answered and stated they were having a problem with the appointment software and she would call me back. She lied, Waited 2 hours. I called back again and left a voice mail. Called back and left a message to speak with Dr. Howard. Michelle called me back, she needed more information about why I wanted to speak with Dr. Howard. I explained. I received a call from Dr. Rose instead. Dr. Rose stated she had a problems with me making an appointment. First she said it was due to me having a balance, which was a lie because I could of paid it. Dr. Rose stated 'After I spoke with you last, I don't feel comfortable with you as a patient". This was a total lie, our conversation was without stress and polite. I had told her multiple times, I was not upset or irritated with her and it wasn't her fault for my aggravation with the office. Then her real feelings were expressed. She stated" You went to Hampton and I got a nasty gram from them about the paperwork. Ah Ha, So your abandoning me, a patient, with a broken hearing aid because of your immaturity and unprofessionalism due to getting a nasty gram from the Main Office and because I caught your friend April in a lie. Neither issue was my fault. Straight up Immaturity and unprofessionalism. I no longer have anything to do with Hampton Roads ENT. read more

For the most part, everything has been great with my experience with this office except for the scheduling. I was supposed to be scheduled for a sleep study to take place "sometime soon" but have yet to hear back from them. I called in after a few days of hearing nothing about it only to be told not to worry that someone would contact me. Someone eventually did, but they weren't able to schedule the sleep study during the call for some unknown reason. The young lady asked me about my insurance information (which I'm pretty sure they already had) which I kindly gave to her. She said someone would contact me about scheduling later. That was nearly a week ago. Well, it's good to know that they're able to bill for the service that they've yet to provide. That seems to be the priority. read more

I think they are in business to commit insurance fraud my daughter is allergic to peanuts and eggs and they were aware of this the doctor advised me I should have another test performed because it's been over 5 years so I agreed. On the day of the test they gave my baby 20 something needles injecting a large amount of both peanuts and eggs not only was they test worthless because her entire leg was swollen she went into anaphylactic shock. There was no doctor in the room calling shots to give a EpiPen and benadryl my daughter was fighting for her life after about 30 min (because the office was closed) and two breathing treatments I was told to take her home and after consulting with other doctors I've lear that the doctors at Hampton Roads ent aren't surgeons dont specialize in allergy test and the test they performed most doctors don't use it any more because it's so harmful and they should have sent my baby to the ER. A doctor from the office called the next day and apologized and stated they shouldn't have performed that test they should have done blood work because she has a history of positive allergic reactions to peanuts and eggs. He asked me to bring her to him I refused I wouldn't take my dog to that office!!!! RUN THEY ARE TRYING TO HUSTLE THE INSURANCE COMPANY BECAUSE THEY GET PAID FOR EACH SHOT GIVEN AND THEY GET PAID BIG MONEY FOR TREATING THE ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK THAT THEY CAUSED read more
