    Poop on the sheets!

Clearly poop on the sheets when I got to room first night and pulled back sheets (see PHOTO) I was too tired and too late - so slept on other side, so I told the front desk this morning and said sorry, they'd change the sheets - guess what, not changed! INCREDIBLE THAT EVEN AFTER COMPLAINING THIS MORNING, THEY DIDN'T CHANGE THE POOPY SHEETS! The night clerk this evening profusely apologized and helped me change the sheets -- despite his apology, based on the cleaning crew actions, I would have slept in poop 2 nights in a row!

I'm not sure I would give it 5 stars, but they do have a nice breakfast. Nice rooms, cable and friendly staff, who is willing to help.

    Very clean rooms!

Service comes in hot and polished, with thoughtful touches (like luxury robes and umbrellas) that feel less like extras and more like part of the composition. The room leans indulgent: down pillows and marble showers with acoustics that, dare I say, will have you sounding like Whitney Houston on karaoke night. Set in downtown Carmel, you're a short stroll from steakhouse showstoppers and easygoing breweries, high notes, low notes, all within half a mile. Even the gym keeps tempo: Pelotons, free weights, cables, kettlebells, and a fridge stocked full of spring water. It's a stay that swings refined, a little indulgent, and effortlessly in rhythm.

Beautiful hotel hiding really bad service…read more After booking my room, I received a very nice email confirming the details of my stay from "Kiley Wylie, that I now realize was an AI bot. I contacted him twice during my stay getting no response. I Was not given the room I booked, and upon check in, the front desk staff told me the hotel was fully booked and the only room they cold give was one overlooking a construction site. The food was horrible. I ordered room service on one of my five night stay. And, I am pretty sure I was served table scraps. When ordering dinner, I asked if it would be served on a dinning cart? The person that took the order replied, " No We Don't do that. You should should have a table in the room ". I did have a small table, bed side doubling as a night stand holding a lamp. The only other option was to dine in the bed, which I did. The burger was cold in the center, cheese was congealed and fries had probably been cooked and reheated at least four times. The Door men (probably young college guys) were great! I Will not choose this hotel on an upcoming visit to Indy. Beware! 5 Star room rates! Not accompanied by 5 star service, food or staff.

From the moment we walked into the lobby to check in, the experience felt uncomfortable. We are a biracial couple, and the front desk clerk completely ignored my husband--she did not acknowledge him, make eye contact, or address him once, speaking only to me the entire time. It was awkward, unprofessional, and made both of us feel very uneasy. We arrived a bit early and politely asked if a room might be available. We were immediately told no, that the hotel had been fully booked the night before. I then asked where the first-floor restroom was. What I found was shocking: one stall was completely clogged and filled to the brim, the other was overflowing with paper. The restroom was dark, dirty, and clearly not being monitored or cleaned. The entire hotel felt very dark and dated. While it appears there may have been some attempted updates, this is clearly an older building that feels worn and neglected. When I returned to the front desk, the same clerk again ignored my husband. After some back-and-forth and a supervisor stepping in, we were suddenly able to check in after all--despite being told moments earlier that no rooms were available. The room itself appeared mostly clean, but it was very dated. The carpet was heavily stained, and the bathroom was unacceptable. The shower door felt unsafe, with a missing rail, making me genuinely concerned the glass could come down while in use. The soap dispenser was loose and hanging off the wall. We are IHG Elite members and have stayed in many IHG properties across the U.S. and Europe. This was, without question, the worst experience we have had. This location does not meet IHG standards in cleanliness, maintenance, or professionalism. I would strongly recommend avoiding this property and choosing another option nearby.

The room was spacious and clean. Beds, pillows and linens were comfortable. I like the Dove products in the bathroom. There's a pool and fitness room but I didn't have time to use them. Breakfast looked alright but I was rushing out so didn't take anything. It was your typical free hotel breakfast with some warm items and cereals, etc. Conveniently located by the highway and near to stores and restaurants. The only thing I wish I had done was asked for a room away from the elevator. People were very noisy and I woke up a lot.

It's relatively…read moreclose to Carmel's Arts & Design District and has a handful of restaurants within walking/wheeling distance. I visited the hotel while participating in an event. It's a four-level hotel. It offers connecting rooms, free parking, free WiFi, digital key, an on-site restaurant (I know the breakfast buffet is now $14), an indoor saltwater pool, fitness center, business center, and is in the middle of a residential area with a mix of apartment communities and businesses surrounding it. There's also a patio with a fire pit. I checked in around 4pm - after the allowed 3pm. When I'm on this event, I sometimes get in early, however, I was pretty busy in Carmel. I reserved and received an accessible room, at least by their own definitions. It's accessibility is definitely a bit weak by ADA standards. I am a wheelchair user who was in room 328 and there was definitely barely enough room between the bed and the large dresser. I literally rubbed. If you're in a larger wheelchair or motorized chair, you definitely don't want this room. That said, bed height was good. This was a room with a bathtub that has grab bars - not ideal but workable (and does meet ADA). I had identified being a wheelchair user in my reservation - so I'm a bit disappointed to be placed in as room where it was difficult (but not impossible) to navigate. If it had been impossible, I'd have requested a change. The free WiFi works well. You can upgrade to a premium experience for $4.95 a day. There were handles on the curtain that make it easy for a wheelchair user to open and close them- nice touch. The doorway is relatively light. Elevators are roomy enough for a wheelchair and multiple guests. The lobby is nice and dining area comfortable. I had dinner at a surrounding restaurant, however, I did stay in the hotel for breakfast and was pleased. The main employee I dealt with was friendly and helpful. I had asked for a copy of the city newspaper, however, they didn't have one (they do offer a free USA Today). Overall, this was a positive experience. While the accessibility for a wheelchair user in my room was somewhat disappointing, it was for the most part workable and other accessibility issues were as expected. I would likely return here, however, I might explore a different room to see if I could get a little more comfortable with navigation. The hotel seems to be a bit older and could use a bit of a touch-up, however, it was clean, comfortable, and this was a good stay.

No complaints other than I left my swimsuit in the bathroom, called them the SAME DAY as check out. They said they would put it in the lost and found and when my husband went back 6 days later, they could not find. More annoying than anything. It's replaceable but I gave the my name and room number all before my checkout time, so there was no gap in when I left and when another person would've come in.

Based on info, they are going to be remodeling in the near future but not soon enough. They need to tear down this place and start from scratch. Side note, our family spent A LOT of money to stay here for the weekend of the Indy 500. Third floor 2 bedroom suite. We don't expect a 5 star accommodation but people who work here/and or own this just don't care about the hotel or the guests having a good experience. Notes 1. Our 2 bedroom suite smelled like mold when we walked in. My hubby determined that an animal had peed on the carpet and/or the dishwasher standing liquid that was sitting on the bottom of the dishwasher was also maybe the culprit. 2. I opened up the dishwasher which had dirty water at the bottom, could the smell be from that? 3. Water was leaking from the shower onto the tile floor. I closed the shower curtain while I was showering so that was strange. 4. Couch is lopsided and cushion extends over the side. Not comfy. 5. I guess housekeeping only comes after 3 nights at the place. When they did come, they just dropped off towels. They didn't do anything else. They didn't make the beds, etc. 6. Breakfast was okay. Nothing over the top. A very small breakfast nook for the amount of hotel rooms. 7. Pool was closed so you could use the pool across the parking lot at their sister hotel. That pool needs a remodel as well. 8. The curtains were damaged. 9. The beds were so soft and old that every time my hubby moved in the bed, I felt it. 10. Closets doors. One room was missing one of the closet doors while the other closet was completely broken so trying to get to the hairdryer out was an act of Cirque du Soleil. 11. I was about to use a peeler in the kitchen but it was all rusty. 12. The chairs at the dining room table had nasty markings that looked like snot all over them. 13. When I went to take a shower the first day, the shampoo container was completely empty. That was fun. Positives: the tv worked and my son ate fruit loops at breakfast.

CAVEAT: This review is about Corporate Marriott, not the Carmel Fairfield Inn…read moreLast Friday evening I had an urgent need to reserve a room for a relative who was bringing their child to St. Vincent's Heart Hospital for an urgent quadruple bypass. My first choice is always Marriott so I reserved a 4 night stay for my relative. Important to note: at no time during the online reservation was I informed that the reservation was nonrefundable. I believe I only read that the reservation had to be cancelled by 11:59pm. After finalizing the reservation, I belatedly remembered that I wanted to also provide breakfast each day. After scouring the website and finding no mention of a breakfast provided, I cancelled the reservation around 10:30pm. Marriott confirmed my cancellation and did not mention that I would still be charged. I then went to Expedia, found the same hotel room that included breakfast daily. I reserved Expedia's room. Today I found out that Marriott Fairfield Inn did indeed charge me for that cancelled 4-day stay. When I wrote to Customer Service asking why the charge remained on my account, I was told that their cancellation policy was 11:59pm *48 hours prior* to the first reserved day. In other words, I should have cancelled my reservation approximately 36 hours before I made it. Again, I was never informed of the 48 hours prior notice and I was never informed that the reservation was non-refundable. Today I called the hotel itself and was directed to the Sales Manager who would "take care of this matter for you." She did not answer her phone. Nor did she return my call. Thus ends my favored nation status for Marriott.

Check in was seamless and the room was good but could have used some updating (air conditioner was loud, coffee maker was missing a piece, etc.). I slept like a rock thanks to the black out curtains and visited the free breakfast each morning. I like that they have something different each day at breakfast and the coffee was flowing non stop, as it should be! My only complaint about the breakfast scene was the acoustics in the lobby and breakfast area were not good. Theres paneling on the floors so the echo is loud and you have every single footstep, roller suitcase, etc. The attendant had the tv on really loud every day so it was a little hard to think over that. Gym is right next to the front desk and faces the road so you can see people walk on by. I visited a few times and was happy to get a great sweat session in! This location is stellar, very walkable to a number of restaurants and shops. I would walk every night after dinner and felt completely safe when I would go to Meijer each night (I don't live in the midwest so its a luxury for me)!)
