Bed bugs. I'm severely allergic. So I know when it happens. This hotel has them. This is basically the only reason other than above and beyond services that I will bother to post about a hotel. read more

We had a wonderful stay at this clean and tidy hotel. We stayed for 3 nights and had a nice room with great free breakfast. (Waffles! Coffee 24 hours a day!) There's a nice indoor pool and gym. Akhis the manager/owner is so kind and accommodating. Great place to stay. read more

Where to start? Lobby smelled moldy. Indian manager/desk clerk unfriendly. They screwed up our reservation. It was supposed to be reserved (Honors member) as disability room/King. None was available even though we reserved it and verified on the phone. The room was shabby. The bathroom had mold in tub and damage.(see photos) Rip off for the price. Don't stay here unless you want bedbugs! The place has them bad!!! The elevator was out for months and pool out of service too. Owners make their 10 year old son clean the rooms. My husband stayed there for business and stayed with him a couple of times. We helped older customers take suitcases up the stairs because of no elevator. Ridiculous. They did fumigate the room, but when we came back 3 weeks later, my husband found one crawling across the mattress. Dirty and discussing!!! read more

Business trip , I checked in on a Wednesday afternoon. My check-in was smooth. While waiting for the clerk, I looked around and found the lobby and entranceway very clean. This is something notable, as there was snow on the ground and so much mess comes with snow that seems to never melt. They did advise me the elevator was out of order before I checked in. No problem I can take a second floor room. I found my room very clean and comfortable. Everything was in order and appeared that the med staff did a very good job prior to my arrival. I found the hallways, and the stairwells, and all the common areas very cleaned and maintained. They do have an indoor pool, that looked clean and inviting. They have a small gym that is fairly well equipped. I slept very good, my bed, was very comfortable and supportive. The bathroom was clean and properly maintained. My breakfast this morning was very good and they had many items to select from. I recommend this hotel. read more

Elevator still out of order! I regret having to write this, but we recently stayed at the Hampton Inn in Sturgis, MI. Hampton is our "go to" hotel when on the road and we have stayed at Hampton Inns all over the country. I have to say that the Hampton Inn in Sturgis does not live up to the standards I have found in other Hampton Inns. And I am sorry about this because it is so conveniently located for our regular trips from Western New York to Racine, WI to see grandchildren. Specifically my issues are: #1 - the elevator has been out of service for almost a year! My wife and I are 74 and hauling suitcases up and down stairs is not as easy as it once was. #2 - the breakfast was way below what I have usually found at Hampton Inns. The eggs were "OK" but the ham was this slices in boiling water - almost no taste! And no fresh fruit. #3 - we arrived about 9PM and found the person at the front desk, not rude, but rather disinterested. (and there were no cookies to snack on :-(. On the positive side, the room was clean and neat as usual and once in our room we were quite comfortable. This was our third or fourth stay at this facility, but it will be our last. read more

Don't expect them to honor your reservation. My reservation was canceled while I was standing in the lobby wanting to check-in. After driving 11 hours, I was told by the front desk attendant that I couldn't check in because all the pet rooms were sold out. I tried to explain to her that I had reserved a pet room on the Hilton app. She was rude and acted like I was inconveniencing her. She didn't care what I had reserved and said I could stay there but my pet couldn't. How is that even an option?? I have stayed at 3 other Hampton Inns in the past month, with my dog, without any issues. I reserved a pet room through the Hilton app for each of them. My reservation says "if you cancel... your payment is non-refundable." When I asked her about being charged for a room they would not allow me to check-in to, she canceled my reservation. read more

Smell was terrible in all parts of the inn. Bucket in ice room under a leaky ceiling. Carpet in room was stained in several large areas. Sheets didn't fit bed and kept coming off. English muffin a choice at breakfast was stale and hard. Will never stay there again. Plus it was very expensive for what we experienced!!! read more

After the first night in the Hampton Inn in The Sturg, I thought, "three stars, not terribly bad". But after the second day, "three hours... two hours... one hour... let's get the EFF outta here, yo!" I should have known something was amiss when the front desk not only allowed me to check in without ID, the credit card that was used to book the room OR the person who booked the room, but when they let me in to the bride and groom's room to decorate as I saw fit for their wedding night. No security scares here. I should have left molitov cocktails around the room just to teach the hotel staff a proper lesson. While my getting into the room was obviously a plus for me, I was prepared to leave the goods with housekeeping and a nice tip to take care of the small feat. In addition to the lack of security, a huge lack of clean towels and hotel necessities thwarted our stay throughout the weekend. Drying off both hair and body with the lone clean wash cloth was super fun, I highly recommend. And the cherry on the stale and sour cake was the price. $140/night for THIS? Thank you AAA discount for keeping me from losing my ish over the bill. When asked why the Hampton was charging Holiday Inn prices, the concierge replied, "There's a magic show in town. It's our busiest weekend." Yup. A few small perks: Really friendly staff. Wide-eyed and innocent, but friendly. Continental breakfast that included more than the staples no one likes anyway. Pool. Is it clean? No idea. But it's there. read more

The lobby looks nice, but the room and the hallway smell musty. The wall paper in our room is peeling and we found a coffee sleeve on the floor. The bathroom door sticks as well. This is a relatively new hotel - I'm guessing there is a moisture issue. And no shampoo in the room. read more

Adequate but really tired. It works and they try hard on their am breakfast but don't expect more then adequate.

Stopped by for a room and was promptly greeted and checked in. Good clean room. Pleasant staff which was refreshing given my poor experiences at two previous hotels in the area. Thank you and keep up the great work. read more

Perhaps they've updated since the 2011 review or maybe it's just visiting when there's nothing else going on in the area but I've got no serious complaints about this hotel. Yes, the room smelled a little off when we first got in, but I suspect that's more from lack of use because once the A/C ran for a while, things were fine. Beds were comfortable, TV worked well, hot tub a welcome relief after 10+ hours in the car, breakfast a decent hot breakfast available at many hotel chains these days. 24 hour coffee/tea availability from more than the room coffee maker was nice. Very easy access to I-80. Will probably be staying here again for overnight stops during cross country trips. Booked in advance so paid under $100 too. read more

This has been by far the least appealing Hampton I have stayed at while traveling. The room was average and clean. The breakfast area was a disaster only hot food were over cooked turkey sausages which were lukewarm. If you are looking for a decent place to stay this is it. I am a loyal Hamtoniite, so can't be too mean. read more

There was a lot of construction being done to the outside. They were putting a new stucco type finish to the outside. When the air-conditioning was turned on, a lot of the loose media was blown into the room. This wasn't really under their control so, I'll be neutral about it. The T.V. didn't work. It was basically an expensive radio. This was their fault. The continental breakfast was really good and well appointed. An extra star for that. read more

OMGosh, this is a property that Hilton needs to dump immediately. The place is filthy, nothing works properly, ie: coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. We had to move to another room because the water was pouring into the bathroom from a metal plug in the bathroom ceiling. The management is unfriendly, sullen, basically useless. Everyone who works there seems embarassed about the place. The absolute worst problem was every time you turned the water on Sewer Gas odors permeated the entire room. It did stop if you left the water run long enough. read more

When we arrived we did find it to be very welcoming and inviting. But soon after we found that we were being deceived. How would you like to be waked up by a bug crawling across your face? We found a Millipede in our room at 1am and we got our stuff together and checked out by 2am. We were talking to the front desk person and he stated that he was "NOT authorized" to refund our rooms, and that the manager would take care of everything and do the reimbursing for the bug issue tomorrow (I said well he will have to call our cell since we will not be staying here). He was nice, polite and very sincere about everything. We found it a little odd that he was not authorized to reimburse us, even though they have TWO Sliver plates at the front desk check-in counter that states (And I quote) "Hampton Hotels are characterized by the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Friendly service, clean rooms and comfortable surroundings every time. If you're not satisfied, we don't expect you to pay. That's our commitment & your guarantee. That's 100% Hampton." Their 100% back guarantee is a gimmick! Since we didn't stay we did get reimbursed for the second night that we checked out at 2am (which he was authorized to do) but since we were booked for two they wouldn't reimburse us for the other! We drove all the way home took a little over an hour (expecting a call at about 9-10am in the morning, since that is when the front desk person told us the manager would be in.) I had to call the hotel at 10am and ask for the manager, I was then told that he wouldn't be in until after 3pm. (So much for good sleep that morning). 4:30pm rolls around since I haven't received a call, I called again this time I get "oh he just walked in let me go find him for you" per another front desk person. So the manager gets on the phone and at first he acts dumb to the situation, and then the manager says that his front desk person lied to us saying that we would get reimbursement, also that he wasn't going to pay for the mistake of one of his employees (the expectation we had was of 100% back, just as it states in their guarantee), for the other room. Then the MANAGER proceeds to hang up on me! (Talk about great customer service!!) I am still a little heated about this and they will NOT be getting anymore of my business.
