We stayed here 3/7 to 3/8 and the place is old and outdated. We left before 11 to not get charges for over staying. I get home and see my credit card was charged for soiled wash cloth and bath mat five dollars for each, so your not supposed to wash your fae a body? I could understand stained but that was not the word used! I disputed the charges and got my money back, but then I had to think how many other people were charged and didn't check or didn't care! Well they claimed they had pictures, so who cares how can you prove those were my wash cloth and mat? They're LYING and JOY is a lie!!! I will never stay there again based on this experience! By the way two of my guests brought their own wash cloths! Smells racist to me and we were there for the March in Selma! read more

I stay with Hilton properties all over the United States, this is in the bottom 3 or 4 I've stayed in. The interiors are old and dated and in disrepair. Their tech and entertainment is also outdated and antiquated. I will say that the staff seems to do the best they can with what they have to work with. The room was as good as could be and smelled fresh, so that's a plus. The towels were mismatched and the towel rack was bent and mangled. If I had to, I would stay again...I am a loyal Hilton customer. That said, the new Holiday Inn Express, directly behind this establishment, is looking awful inviting after stay here. read more

I wish I could give no stars. My husband and I stayed there last Sunday and we were put in a room that had bed bugs. The bugs were on the mattress, pillows and side table. I have spent all week disinfecting our clothing and other items. I had to wash my hair three times with strong soap. They wouldn't refund our room (they put us in another room but we didn't know if that room had bugs too so we got no sleep.) I tried reaching out to the GM and got no response. We still don't know if we brought back bugs to our house. Stay at this hotel at your own risk!!!!! read more

Four stars for a tired old Hampton Inn that could use some renovating, but one that provides a safe stay and with staff that go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. We were supposed to be staying the night in New Orleans, but had to change our plans last minute due to Tropical Storm Barry. We arrived late but check-in was quick. **Note**, ask the front desk for instructions on how to use their showers at check in. (they have the strangest shower mechanism I have ever seen) We had some minor issues during our one night stay, but the staff was helpful. If you have to stay in Selma, this is a fine option. read more

This has got to be the worst Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at. The reception at check in was horrible. I stood and waited for ten minutes before anyone came to check me in. The front desk staff were cutting up in the back office. Check in process was slow and after looking at my ID she still made me tell her my address. Room was filthy. There was a musty body odor smell. The sofa was so nasty we had to put towels on it to sit down. There were stains on the bedsheets. I do not recommend ever staying here. This is an absolute disgusting hotel and a disgrace to the Hampton Inn name. I would have rather took my 200 dollars and stayed at the new quality inn down the road. read more

We spent last weekend at the Hampton Inn in Selma rm 212 from friday April 30 to Sunday May 2. We had no problems until the Sunday morning when my fiance woke up to numerous bites of something on her right upper back. We looked for the cause since we knew what looked liked bedbug bites but couldn't find any on the bed. Immediately we got dressed and informed the lady behind the counter who said the manager wouldn't be there until 10am. It was 8am at the time and we needed to leave. The counter lady gave us an email address to contact the management about the situation. A few emails sent out to that address and we have yet to receive any response. My bathroom was not clean and had unsanitary conditions around toilet from previous overflow or leak that was not properly cleaned. My tub would not drain well and ended up bathing in dirty bath water during shower. The bath tub fixture would fully shut off in off position and had to finesse it to turn valve all the way off. Found broken floor tiles upon entering and exiting the elevator that creates tripping hazard to customers. Grab and go breakfast was okay but it is grab & go. Did not enjoy my experience here. Overall this Hampton needs some updating because it is outdated and it shows. Next time ill try the holiday inn next door if I come back. read more

Fold out sofa bed mattress covered in stains! Brown and yellow, EVERYWHERE! And the sofa part is also filthy and covered in dust/dirt. A dead cockroach on the floor make this feel like a nasty flop house. They did bring two roll out beds for the kids but those mattresses don't seem much better. I love that the lobby is really large with plenty of room to hang out - which was perfect for us since we were staying there for a wedding and had space to visit with family and friends. Hampton Inn, I usually love you. However, the shoddy wireless, lack of toiletries being restocked, and that the bathroom has been replenished with one less towel every day I feel you are doing the minimum effort because you're really the best option to stay in town no matter how you slice it. The final kicker? I have the handicapped room, and am unable to take baths, which is the biggest perk to me about staying in a hotel versus my apartment back home. read more

My experience at the Hampton Inn has been wonderful. The employees are very friendly and attentive. The manager has gone out of his way to make my experience pleasant and inviting. The two night guys Jesse and Joey are very friendly and easy to communicate with. The first room I stayed in included two queen beds, small fridge & microwave, with an office desk like area. I was upgraded to a room with one king bed, small fridge & microwave, a larger office desk like area and a jacuzzi bathtub. The second room was even larger than the first. I went swimming a few times in the heated indoor pool too. I would certainly recommend staying at the Hampton Inn in Selma Alabama! read more

Front lobby renovated but our room was a bit too well worn. Heavily scented cleaning products in room and hallways make me wonder what smells they are trying to mask. Shower didn't drain. Could close the bathroom door to keep the noise from keeping us awake but couldn't get away from the noise outside our window. Would not stay here again. read more

Stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago. The experience overall was so so. Nothing special. One star is for what happened after checkout. I left the hotel and after about an hour I realized I left the dirty laundry bag full of clothes sitting on one of the beds. I phoned the hotel and told them to which they replied that they hadn't cleaned the room yet but would call back once they had and would arrange return of my clothes. They never called back. The next day I phoned again. Was told that the room was cleaned but they hadn't spoken with the cleaning staff regarding my issue and would call me back. They never called back. This back and forth continued until I finally spoke to the GM of the hotel who said he spoke to the maid and she swears that nothing was in the room. I assured him I was 100% certain that the clothes were in there so the maid either took them or carelessly through them out. After all of this I called the customer service hotline who said they had gotten in touch with the GM and that he would contact me directly again. He never called back. I then reached out to customer service again and was finally given the line that they were not responsible for left or lost items. Would have been ok as I realize I left the items but I notified them before they cleaned the room. No doubt in my mind the clothes were thrown out or taken by someone at the hotel. And even more fishy that they never called back when they said they would. Won't be back there or any other Hilton property if I can avoid it. I'd give negative stars if I could for dishonesty in my opinion. read more

Stayed here for a family reunion. We were able to get a great group rate. The rooms were very clean & housekeeping did a great job. There are flat screen TVs, microfridges, & wifi in ever room. There is also a complimentary continental breakfast from 6-10a. Pool area was ok. The jacuzzi wasn't that warm but nonetheless still relaxing. read more

Came for a family reunion and opted to stay here (vs the Ramada Inn a few blocks away ) and have to say it is such a nice hotel!! VERY CLEAN, professional staff, offers a complimentary free full breakfast for guests during a reasonable hours (6a-10a I believe). The rooms were very nice, equipped with flat screen televisions, refrigerators, and internet service. So glad we stayed here! read more

This is a clean hotel. The front desk employees were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were updated and spacious. The bathrooms were clean, they gave us all the towels we wanted. Nice staff, but hotel is in dire need of renovation. Bedding is worn out and furniture is showing major signs of wear and tear. My room smelled like floor deodorizer so strong that it gave me a headache. Shower valve was broken, and tissue holder was sticky. I used the gym and the equipment was dirty and worn out and the yoga mat had stains on it. Room size was nice, and the staff was very polite and helpful. read more
