    Nasty sofa.
    Alana R.

This has got to be the worst Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at. The reception at check in was horrible. I stood and waited for ten minutes before anyone came to check me in. The front desk staff were cutting up in the back office. Check in process was slow and after looking at my ID she still made me tell her my address. Room was filthy. There was a musty body odor smell. The sofa was so nasty we had to put towels on it to sit down. There were stains on the bedsheets. I do not recommend ever staying here. This is an absolute disgusting hotel and a disgrace to the Hampton Inn name. I would have rather took my 200 dollars and stayed at the new quality inn down the road.

    Bed bug bites?!?
    Jeffrey M.

We spent last weekend at the Hampton Inn in Selma rm 212 from friday April 30 to Sunday May 2. We had no problems until the Sunday morning when my fiance woke up to numerous bites of something on her right upper back. We looked for the cause since we knew what looked liked bedbug bites but couldn't find any on the bed. Immediately we got dressed and informed the lady behind the counter who said the manager wouldn't be there until 10am. It was 8am at the time and we needed to leave. The counter lady gave us an email address to contact the management about the situation. A few emails sent out to that address and we have yet to receive any response. Shame on you Hampton Inn hotels in Selma Alabama. Shame on you!

Bathtub did not drain well. Took a bath by the time I was done taking a shower

My bathroom was not clean and had unsanitary conditions around toilet from previous overflow or leak that was not properly cleaned. My tub would not drain well and ended up bathing in dirty bath water during shower. The bath tub fixture would fully shut off in off position and had to finesse it to turn valve all the way off. Found broken floor tiles upon entering and exiting the elevator that creates tripping hazard to customers. Grab and go breakfast was okay but it is grab & go. Did not enjoy my experience here. Overall this Hampton needs some updating because it is outdated and it shows. Next time ill try the holiday inn next door if I come back.

Heavily stained pull out sofa mattress

Fold out sofa bed mattress covered in stains! Brown and yellow, EVERYWHERE! And the sofa part is also filthy and covered in dust/dirt. A dead cockroach on the floor make this feel like a nasty flop house. They did bring two roll out beds for the kids but those mattresses don't seem much better. And they've sprayed some nasty scented spray on the bedding that is making my allergies flair up. This hotel is vile

It was the only hotel that was available in the area that looked decent enough for us to stay , as we usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Selma . Also , the hotel description said that it was in the Edmund Pettus bridge area AND IT WASNT . Mattresses were dirty ; I even captured something crawling inside the comforter . Bathroom wasn't clean , corners were very dirty . Bed decor sheet was dirty as well . Table , nightstand , & tv stand were all peeling . I killed 2 roaches on the nightstand . Hair dryer was filthy . Carpet just pure dirty ! I had to buy cleaning supplies just so it could feel halfway clean to us . Major renovations needed ...NEVER AGAIN !!!

The first thing you will notice is that it looks a little different from most Quality Inns (and trust me, as a Diamond Elite member, I've seen a LOT of them). If it looks familiar, it's because it used to be a Jameson Inn. Lovely exterior, though some better landscaping would be nice. It's winter though, so there may be more flowers at other times of the year. But what you really want out of a hotel is a clean bed, right? This hotel returns to the Quality Inn standards, presenting a comfortable mattress, clean white sheets, fluffy pillows, a down comforter, and a gold bed scarf. There was also a table but no desk, and your choice of a straight backed chair or an office chair. The vanity was really nice -- long counter and sink area and bright lights above the mirror. Fridge and microwave worked well. I didn't use the coffeemaker as I bring my own. The iron was missing, but I didn't care. Lights and locks worked fine. Electrical outlets, like in most hotels, were a bit sparse, and I ended up using the extension cord I always carry. Wifi Internet worked well, even though I was far from the main office. I was in building three, and it was quiet, clean, well-lit, and felt safe. There was also a small area of grass for pets -- this hotel does allow dogs for an additional per night charge. I did not eat breakfast here and doubt I will. Quality Inns are not known for great breakfasts. There are plenty of fast food places nearby as its on the main drag through town. There is a Walgreens and Sonic very close, and Walmart is about a half a mile away on the same road. After so many bad stays recently, I was almost ready to leave the Choice Hotels chain. This hotel changed my mind. Solid five stars. I'll be back soon.

They look nice in that they were recently renovated but then there are things that are just old and nasty. It's like it was trying really hard to recover with renovations but they just missed the mark. There were cigarette holes in the sheets and stains on the floor. And I know this is trivial, but the lamps also have different color temperatures. The lamps on the desk in the room have warm yellow light and the lamps next to the bed have blue daylight LEDs (not great for a homey feel/hotel). The rooms feel sticky on the second floor like the air is just very thick and it doesn't seem like they use the air conditioning in the hallways. The peephole on the door is also near the middle of the door inside of at adult eye level. We also had trouble opening our door like the floor wasn't level. There's free WiFi but the password they gave us didn't work. The floors in the room also feel lumpy like the carpet isn't attached right. I'm not sure why but the four rooms I needed were processed as four separate transactions rather than just one big transaction. It was just sort of a pain checking in 4x rather than once (card, signature, ok the amount, accept transaction...). Parking wasn't a problem and the lot is well lit. Continental breakfast was offered from 6:00 am -9:30 am. They had a waffle machine, cereal, small pastries, coffee, juice, yogurt, eggs, sausage, and a few other things. So that was nice. They had plenty of room availability and were able to help process a tax exemption for the resevations since I was traveling with a non-profit organization.
