First, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Nice touches like some cookies and a to-go breakfast bag in the morning set out. But the hotel itself, not so good. The room smelled like a smoking room although we were told that there were NO smoking rooms. The bathroom shower needs redone. One of the window blinds was out of its track. It had a small kitchen area but no towels, etc, Just sink, micro, and small refrigerator. TV worked fine, but whatever provider they are using the GUIDE page had no information? The hallway carpet needs replaced. So basically it's an older hotel that needs a make over. I would not pick it again to stay in. read more

First time here. Last minute stop over for a graduation. Cleanliness : very clean. No issues Parking : good parking. We'll lit at night. Handicap Forworth: Breakfast : FREE.. clean. Looked sanitary. This place takes the term "family owned and operated" to a whole new level. It's beyond obvious that the people running this hotel are clearly living there, especially since they're the same people that I saw eating breakfast in the lobby with their kids (whose toys were all over the place btw), and then later in the day I see them behind the desk, checking people in. Or that there are 15 people out playing in the pool and then the guy I initially thought was the dad in the group was out there cleaning the pool the next morning. Or the same guy that came and "fixed" our air conditioner (he didn't) was the same guy that was constantly smoking just outside the front door so you had to walk through that nearly every time you went in or out of the hotel. It feels less like you're a Hampton Inn/Hilton and more like you're at somebody's house, staying in their leftover Airbnb rooms. It's very weird. The folks at corporate need to come take a serious look at this place. read more

I have spent at least two hours of my life fighting to get my money back from this location double billing me. I think it is an inside job and customers are being double billed so that the hotel staff can give their family and friends free rooms. I have been told for almost two weeks that the second charge would be reversed. As of today, it hadn't. Hilton Corporate is corrupt like the hotel staff in Opelousas. Today, I was told Hilton is mailing me a check in 30 - 40 business days. Well, it didn't take Felicia and the staff at the Opelousas location 30 - 40 business days to first wrongfully charge my daughter's credit card and then charge me twice. I'm not done with Hilton. My next stop is the President's office and suggest that they launch an internal affairs investigation into the Opelousas location and for them to take a closer look at their business and financial practices. read more

I don't know what Hilton would want to be e associated with this place. I have stayed at Motel 6's that were better than this hotel. No microwave, no place close by to eat without driving, only one face towel & not even one bath towel. They advertise breakfast, but all they have is cold cereal & toast. The orange juice was like watered down Tang. Undrinkable! They supplied only the bare minimum. I only chose this place because of the Hilton name. read more

A was a nice stay, bed was comfortable, room was clean, plenty of towels, everything worked just fine. A buddy and I rode are Harleys from Cali to Florida and back and every Hilton hotel we stayed in has been perfect no hitches what so ever. read more

I stayed here the week of 2/20 to 2/24. When I checked in the desk clerk was on her cell phone so I had to wait until she checked me in while she was on her phone. She did apologize. I guess it was personal business she had to take care of. Got to my room and it was hot and smelly. The a/c compressor would not stay on. And the smell was coming from food that had been left in the fridge which was hot also. I called the clerk & she offered to move me to a nearby room & even brought the key card up to me. A/C in new room worked great. I had 2 beds in the room & both were like sleeping on concrete. Tonight I HAD to stay here again (where my company paid for). ONCE again A/C is NOT cooling my room even though I have the thermostat as low as possible on the a/c unit and the wall control. Walked into the bathroom for a hand towel and on the supposedly clean wash clothes was a LONG BLACK HAIR. I would highly advise you to stay away from here if you're looking for a cold, clean room. The only reason I'm here is because this is where my company puts it's employees up. read more

Last stay was excellent this time it was okay. Room was clean but had a funny odor. Smoke detector was hanging from the wall and the ceiling looked as if it had been badly patch. I have stayed over 1000 nights at Hilton branded franchises all over the world. My experiences have always ranged from outstanding to just average at worst. I had one bad experience at Hilton Garden Inn in New Orleans but the rest have been great. The Hampton Inn in Opelousas is truly the very worst I've experienced, including in third-world countries. When I arrived to check-in with my companion who had severe mobility issues following brain surgery I was not greeted with the usual expression of gratitude for being a Hilton diamond member and given waters. I was not upgraded as is often the case, and not given a room near the elevator as my standing request in my profile normally allows me. I was instead given a room in the fourth floor where the elevator call button was broken. The elevator could be ridden to the fourth floor, but not summoned back. The stairs had to be used to go to another floor first, then taken back to the 4th to pickup people/luggage not suitable for the stairs. This was not known to me until after we were settled into the room. When I returned to the front desk to ask the girl if she was aware of the elevator issues when she assigned the room after seeing my girlfriend struggle to take each step, she said she was and that the elevator had been broken for a week. In reading other reviews, it seems that was a lie and this had been a neglected problem for at least three years. She said her manager instructed her to fill the 4th floor first which made no sense whatsoever. Later when my girlfriend called down to request them to send the elevator up she again lied and said that wouldn't work because "the elevator only goes up and doesn't go down". When I tried to explain the absurdity of this and asked her how she thought the elevator got back to the lower floors following a trip up without going down and that it was only the call button outside the elevator on the floor, I was at first concerned that she was special needs and not mentally capable of grasping the concept, but it soon became apparent she just didn't care enough to even try to understand. Why after over three years have they not fixed the elevator? Why would they not inform people that once they take the elevator to their floor they will have to use the stairs to return? Why isn't there a sign at the elevator call button warning people the button is broken so they don't just stand there waiting for the elevator? I called the Hilton number who gave me 5000 points. A night at their typical hotels range from 40k - 80k points - so I guess Hilton's new policy is that for every 8-16 horrible experiences you get a free night. read more

After a long day of travel it was nice to pull up to this newer Hampton Inn and be greeted by a very friendly front desk person, April. Check-in was handled quickly and efficiently, even with some additional paperwork that I had. I was offered a snack and told that if there was anything I needed be sure to call the front desk. My room was a spacious king sized non-smoking room toward the back of the hotel. The bathroom was clean and neat and so was the room. The decor is minimalist modern and that works perfectly. The room had a fridge and extra storage space, traditional drawers and a nice closet. The lobby was open and offered cookies and cold water with lime. There is a small business center area and the traditional dining room/television resting space. In the back of the hotel is a small pool area that was very clean and well kept. It was a bit too cool for a swim and I really didn't have time...but what a nice lagniappe. In the morning there was a nice breakfast served with eggs, sausage (two kinds) and breads and yogurt and oatmeal and waffles and fruit and cereal and more! This is a tried and true chain that really lives up to its reputation as a value chain without being skimpy. The added bonus here is a friendly staff - April and Manager Julie were both lovely, location, and cleanliness. What more do you really want in a hotel? read more

"Welcome, not so welcome" Hampton Inn in Opelousas. This is the hotel that we were brought to when our van burned on the highway. The wrecker company brought our camper to the parking lot to leave with the understanding they had room for us. I had been told it was $60-$90. The trooper went in ahead of me and told me everything was okay. I went in and she said she had to have my driver's license. I explained that it wasn't on me, and it was either inside the camper hopefully, or it burned. Either way, I couldn't get to it. Mind you, I did have credit card in hand. She still refused to let us have a room, that was upped to $105, and I fought back tears. Upset, I walked out the hotel, and the trooper asked if we had the room. I explained what happened, and surprised he went back in to handle it. He came back out and told me it would be okay still. I went back in, and she said she was wrong about the room, but she did have another for $110 with the military discount! She wanted me to take it, but I couldn't help but just look at her. I asked if she had a couple nights, but she said they were booked, and we had to leave by 1100 am. 1100 am!!!!! No 'late checkouts' even. She actually said 11 am was a late checkout! Please be aware, this was going on 4 am. Tearful, I asked if my family could sit in the camper and wait till businesses opened to see if I could get somewhere else. She said okay. My children tried to sleep in the heat, and they did somewhat. I couldn't, as I worried and watched over them as I relived the fire in the hours before. I made mental plans for what I could try to do later to get us secured somewhere better. The lady came out to us appx 8 am, and said a room became available for 2 nights! I was excited and said, 'Great! Saturday and Sunday night?" She said "No, Friday and Saturday night." Stunned, I hesitated, with no response coming. I stuttered something about not understanding, because checkout was by 11 am. And she said, "Yes, you'll have to pay for Friday and Saturday night." I stayed calm with resolve to do more than this. I knew we needed to find a way to get home, and night to night bleed wouldn't help anything. So, I again asked to let 9 am come so I could seek help elsewhere. I don't know if she was happy or okay with this, but she stayed quiet and left. I left the camper at that point, having had no sleep, so I could check out the area, and have a plan for 9 am. I didn't know where to start, but I actually thought about the medicine wheel and the four corners of N, S, E, W. So, I walked I 49 North, and realized wasn't much that way, so I headed south and stopped at businesses where people were waiting to go in. I could see the east was nothing but an empty road. I gathered information, and headed west to find the park I was told about. That's where I found Enterprise Rental, and the firemen who found a way to help us. When I got back to the camper at the hotel, my children were hot and sweaty and sitting in the shade of trees. I am happy we were able to leave that place, Hampton Inn, behind us. And I am grateful my camper survived the fire, as we found peace sitting and sleeping in it for the days to come at a local primitive spot that a park let us stay. A good samaritan, Kelvin, had jumped in to help and grabbed a hose to spray water on the van and camper. If you look at our picture of the back of the van, any more time that passed and we wouldn't have had our camper, as it does have some heat damage and buckling. His quick actions helped preserve it for us. God bless him for being willing. God bless the trooper who really tried, and the firemen who cared to do something so my family didn't have to suffer in the heat further. We were in shock, and a great time of need. My children trusted me to take care of them. Kelvin and his wife, that trooper and those firemen helped me to not let them down. That means more to me as a Mom, than the trooper and firemen could know. read more

A few years this was me and my husband go to for our stays whenever we visited our family. It was a great place to stay in the beginning. However this visit was horrible. We arrived at 5 and our check in was for 3. So we had to wait for our room to be prepared. When got into the room and it was half clean, the shower still had other guests hair in it,a broken soap holder with blue tape on it so as not to touch it I guess, and just not cleaned properly. The shower water was cold,so we had to prepare for a funeral with cold showers. After a spent day, we go back to our room, The bed was hard and felt like we were sleeping on cardboard,not a great night's sleep and having to get up for day 2 of the funeral.Management attempted to rectify our dis-satisfaction with having to wait for our room upon arrival as we had to get ready for a funeral,with giving us a discount, which was fine. We hadn't complained about the room until the next day and asked for another room. They provided a new room, however charged my husband's card for the full original price of our weekend stay,not the discounted price for having to wait. Now we have to complain about that. Not to mention the elevators were down,and their staff did not return my shampoo and conditioner that I had left in the room prior. I asked the front desk about it and she said nothing was left. I know for certain it was left because I didn't wash my hair due to the cold shower water. I was completely and utterly dissatisfied by not only the customer service but the hotel in general. I booked my room MONTHS in advance and booked for a king suite. We arrived at the hotel and there was no mention of the room we booked being unavailable. We get our keycard and go to the room and it's a double, thinking there must be a mistake we go back to the front desk and the woman working tells us that's all she's got so too bad basically. No apology or mention in adjusting our rate. When we asked about adjusting our rate she acted like she was doing us a favor.. Then we learn the room we were given didn't haven a working air conditioner. When we asked if we could have someone come fix our air conditioner not only did they not seem surprised they weren't willing to accommodate the inconveince of an 80 degree room with a fan, we were told all they could do was give us a humidifier or we could check out but still have to pay our normal rate for the whole trip. The staff in exception to Tory (who was an angel) was rude and in no way shape or form cared about our stay or business which was apparent. I feel it's important to mention we had a problem with our AC unit in a different room on a previous stay but there is no amount of discount or incentive to make me ever give Hilton another chance. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of empathy and customer service in general. Going forward I will be referring all family, friends and other to IHG hotels because Hilton doesn't care about their hardworking customers who are looking for a home away from home. read more

Terrible service. The elevator was broken when I arrived and I was on the 4th floor. I wasn't informed before I arrived as they say they do. When I arrived I asked when the elevator would be fixed and they didn't know when it would be fixed. I would advise anyone to call and check if the elevator is fixed before you arrive. read more

The good: very clean, great front desk and breakfast staff. The bad: the elevator was broken and had apparently been broken for a month and a half. I understand that there are some things that take longer to fix, but that's a long time. There were also some minor issues in our room, a clicking noise from the bathroom light, low water pressure and the toilet paper holder was barely hanging off the wall. **Also... make sure to lock the inside safety lock, we had a cleaning lady just walk right into our room without knocking or announcing herself. -We contacted Hilton guest services about our stay and while they tried to help, hotel management never got in touch with us about any of our issues. read more

We stopped here after midnight on our way home from Mississippi to Texas. Four gals (my two daughters, my granddaughter and myself) looking for a safe looking area to stay the night. Our room and beds were all clean and comfortable. The breakfast the next morning had a lot to offer with a sweet lady serving bacon, potatoes, and gravy along with waffles, cereals, fruit, etc. The most impressive part of our stay involved the friendly and caring staff. I had returned to our car after we checked in to retrieve a few things and did not realize that the lift door on the car did not latch and popped back open. Alicia from the front desk and Joe, another staff member, noticed it and Alicia tried several times to contact us by phone. We all fell asleep with the tv on and were so tired that we didn't hear the phone ringing. So Alicia and Joe kept an eye on our car all night until Joe came to our door the next morning to let us know. Joe even walked out to our car with me to ensure nothing had been taken. The door was raised fully displaying more than half of all our belongings, and Alicia and Joe, and perhaps others as well, made sure no one touched our things! The staff and facilities are all definitely deserving of the 5 stars! I hope we have an opportunity to return here again someday! read more

I had a good experience with the one young lady that worked there she was very friendly and helpful. I booked a room for one night the first time and my wife and I decided to spend a second night. It was a okay hotel so we thought.Well when I booked the second night they gave me a different room for the same price. ( A downgraded room) Which was fixed by the lady I just spoke of. On my second night my wife's F-Type Jaguar was vandalized right in front of the hotel. Someone had keyed the car! This is a rather expensive car. Well I didn't notice it until I got back home. (Houston) I even had a idea of who did it. I also knew for a fact that it happened at the hotel and since I parked in the front I knew I had nothing to worry about because surly the hotel would have cameras that would sort of protect me when it came to proving who I thought had done it. I called and they said I had to speak with the GM. I waited a few days and still know call back she was in meetings eVery time I called. ( so they said) We'll she finally called back and informed me that they don't have cameras that cover anything outside. Maybe I shouldn't have made that kind of assumptions without asking but I just assumed that at these type of hotels everything was under surveillance that's a main reason I'll pay more to rent those type of rooms for the security in cities with high crime rates. I like to know that if anything would happen at the least it would be on tape. So in my humble opinion I'd say not to stay there because I won't because when I take my wife somewhere I want to feel like we are safe because if criminals know there's not security around anything can happen. Never saw so much as a security guard the whole time I was there! So if you do go just be aware. read more
