We stayed here for one night in early August. To celebrate my wife's birthday, she chose to explore the Monroe / Charlotte area. Since we are Hilton loyal, as usual, we looked online for a place to stay and booked online. After driving through the historic downtown area of Monroe and stopping a few places, we went to the hotel. It is located approximately two miles from the historic downtown area in a newer business district with many food and shopping options. We utilized one of the luggage carts to carry our stuff from the car to the room. We also stopped at the front desk to grab a key card instead of using the digital key this time. To get to our room, the woman at the front desk told us to use the elevator on the opposite side of the main lobby and social area and not the one by the front desk. Our best guess is this property has been recently remodeled/refreshed. It has modern decor features and appears well taken care of. When we walked into our room on the third floor we both noticed a musty smell but otherwise it appeared clean. It also appears to have also been recently remodeled/refreshed. We were surprised by the size of this room compared to other Hampton Inns, our "king studio sofa bed" room type was huge and well equipped. Although it does not matter, it appears this may have been another hotel brand that has been rebranded as a Hilton Hampton Inn. Overall, a great stay. Clean, quiet and comfortable. read more

The hotel supposedly went thru a remodel- the lobby and eating area looked good but the rooms not so much. I like the size but why not put the nice vinyl wood look flooring through out. I didn't expect this hotel to be so nice. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the whole hotel. The rooms where spacey and comfortable. The shampoo and conditioner and body wash and lotion they provided were incredible and all organic. The breakfast was amazing. They had different choices and small little details that made the experience that much more appealing. I will definitely want to stay at another Hampton Inn for my next travel and hope they are to the standard here in Charlotte/Monroe! read more

I knew I should have stayed at Holiday Inn Express. There are some okay things about the hotel like bed and pillows are fairly comfy, but overall it is dated and dingy feeling. There is pink and black mold growing on the caulk all around the shower, where a cheap coverup to whatever tile or bathroom wall was there before. There were also small black hairs on my towels. I did check for bed bugs and fortunately saw no evidence of that. Last notable thing to mention is my TV didn't work, but it was too late and I was too tired to deal with it. read more

Make sure to check you're room for bed bugs!! Checked in last month and saw three bed bugs in my room. The front desk associate was very kind and moved me to a different room. I emailed the pictures to the GM right then and there, till this day I have not heard from that GM. I tried to call and speak to him but the exact words he gave the front desk attendant to tell me was "I am aware of the bed bug issues". Got my room on 2nd floor, and i stripped the beds to check for bugs. Found at the headboard dead bedbugs & droppings. I brought the bugs to the front desk & get a new room. No comp for the room or anything. New room on same floor, hall light is noisy so couldn't use it. Mini-fridge wasn't working. Sofa was old & mattress was old & soft. Then internet in the room doesn't work. I could connect in lobby & friends room but nit ours. Spoke with IT several times & never got the issue resolved. So i did no work. I was charged $139/night and it was robbery. I stayed at a Days Inn that was much nicer. Save your money & go to another hotel. read more

So we asked for our room vacuumed and our sheets cleaned and two hours they came after we already got back and we told them they can do it tomorrow. We first checked into room 114 and had to get relocated since the fan made a terrible clicking noise when we turned the heat on. We called the front desk who said to kick it which only made the noise louder. We tried to fix it ourselves with tape since maintenance was not on duty that late but eventually we had to get moved. We got moved to a business suite (Rm. 141) which was not much better. The pillows in this room were super flat so I had to use both extra pillows from the closet. Also the buzzer/doorbell for this room was loud, obnoxious and sounded like the horn to a fire engine... this must be changed. We wanted to stay another night but the rate jumped to $128 even though online showed $125. I asked if I could add a corporate discount code and was told that no rate change could be made after checking in. Was also told that I couldn't get their website online rate either. It snowed my last day and the power went out. Why is there no backup generator for these situations? It got cold in our room. The least the staff could do would be to walk around to each room checking to make sure we were ok and offer extra blankets, but no. That was not done either. read more

I stayed here in January of 2019. Parking was plentiful. From the outside the building looked a little old but was otherwise unremarkable. The check in process was nice and smooth and the host was attentive. There were cookies, coffee and tea in the lobby surrounded by a group of trucker guys. I walked beyond them to my room which was spacious but definitely dated and had an old smell to it. I went into the bathroom and realized I was in a handicap room (no tub and the whole bathroom looked like a high school shower). I asked for another room and the host happily obliged. My new room looked roughly the same. Bathroom looked better but had long brunette hair in the sink. I cut on the TV but couldn't quite ever get a good signal on any channel. Seemed as if the hotel used a satellite dish signal and it needed adjustment. So I cut the TV off and went to sleep. The bed was comfy. The pillows were a little too solid for my preference. The temperature you control through a rather noisy unit in your room. It shuts on and off throughout the night so you don't quite get use to it. Eventually I drifted off to sleep. Once I woke up, I opened my eyes and noticed a little dot on the pillow in the bed next to mine. I got a little closer and took photos. Not sure if this is a bed bug, baby roach or a tick. I do know it shouldn't be in a hotel. know one shouldn't expect too much from a small town hotel, but I'm sure they can do better than this. Until there's some exterminating, I would steer clear of this place. read more

This is not a review of the check-in/check out staff, but of the actual hotel itself. The staff was friendly. Housekeeping seemed a bit disorganized because they woke us up at 8:30am the day we were checking out and we had late check-out. The check-in/check out staff was super accommodating to the requests of our family. We were there for a family reunion/wedding. The rooms were old and outdated. The cable tv kept flickering in and out. No pay-per-view and had very few channels. There is no restaurant on site and the closest restaurant was a mile away. The snacks were a bit on the pricey side. The granite was broken on the sink in the bathroom. They do offer free Wi-Fi but it is shotty; they do offer premium Wi-Fi but we did not try it out as it was I believe $5.95 for the day. If you are a T-Mobile Cell Phone customer it does not work very well in the hotel. They do have a complimentary breakfast every morning from 6am to 10am which tasted pretty good. read more

I usually stay at the new(er) Holiday Inn Express when in Union County. However, I had to complete four Hilton brand stays for point purposes, so I reluctantly stayed here. It wasn't the best but it wasn't terrible. It's just old. Ancient. I got a free upgraded room that made me wonder just how bad the regular rooms were. The furniture was visibly worn and beat up; something I've never seen at a hotel. But it was a clean and quiet place to sleep. Staff was pleasant and they said the hotel's about to be renovated. My family and I had a phenomenal stay here during my sister's graduation. We checked in on a Wednesday and left on a Sunday, so we saw the hotel during the week and the weekend rush. Rooms were spacious, breakfast was hot and rotated proteins each morning, and we never had an issue parking. The best part of this hotel is the staff. Sarah, who greeted us on our first night has the most cheerful, genuine demeanor of anyone I've encountered in a hospitality position and throughout our visit, she made sure we were all having a great time. When I came back in the beds were made and fresh towels were folded in the bathroom. Breakfast has a great selection of pastries or more traditional breakfast selections. Stay away!!!! I have stayed at this Hampton Inn for 4 years while my daughter attended college. Today she was supposed to be staying there for 4 days and her car broke down 2 hours away so I called them to have it changed for checkin tomorrow instead of today and they told me I would be charged today even though the circumstances were that her car was broke down and could not get fixed till tomorrow and so I was going to have to get her to stay another Hampton Inn until her car was fixed. They stated they could do nothing. I asked to speak with a manger and they stated that they were all in a meeting and could not be bothered. I left a message for Chris the assistant manager, who NEVER returned my call. I called back and they said he left for the day but there is nothing they can do. I have been a Hilton Diamond member for 7 years and I have never received such poor service for a valued member. Sad I loved this hotel but never will stay again and encourage all Others not to stay there. Managers ignore your voicemails and front desk will not get them out of a meeting to speak to you. Do not stay here. It is dirty- it looked like it hasn't been vacuumed in a while. There is visible trash on the floor. They apparently had been caulking the ceiling inn the bathroom because there is caulk all over the bathroom floor. Gritting my teeth because it's too late to do anything about it, and then I got into bed. Can't believe the sheets aren't even soft- they're old and picked! I really wanted to give this hotel a 4-star rating. But it had some issues. Cons: I stayed the night of the Republican debate and had to write a blog. MSNBC the political leading channel was advertised as having it, but the channel was blocked, when I contacted the desk, the attendant said that "she was new and didn't know anything about the cable." The connected cable for high speed internet was broken and there was dry blood on the sheet. I left the issues with the front desk at 8am when I departed, but when I returned at 6pm nothing was fixed. They offered to switch my rooms, but I didn't want to move, so instead I got the cable from an empty room and the front desk clerk and I changed the comforter, but unfortunately, I never got the cable squared away. But the hotel was very clean and they had a reserved parking spot for Diamond Members which was really cool. Lots of restaurants and cool things to do in close proximity too. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this Hampton was compared to the other Hamptons we've stayed at. The room was nice and clean and it looked as though it had been recently updated with granite and tile. They also had a charging station for our iPhones and iPads that included a USB port. They offered free wifi and you could upgrade to a faster version for a small fee. We used the free and it worked fine to download games to my sons iPad. Breakfast was a nice treat, we made our own waffles on their waffle makers. They also had omelettes that we split. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. You could tell that they enjoyed working there. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in Monroe. To the reviewer that said they were on holiday and complained that they slept in (on those coarse sheets you wrote about, how did you get any sleep) and missed the free 6-10am breakfast, then you complained about something else and got a free room and still had the nerve to write a bad review?! We visited Monroe and stayed at the Hampton Inn for 7 nights. The bed is comfortable and the room clean. The sheets are not luxury threaded and felt a bit course for my tastes. We were on holiday so it was no surprise that we would sleep in since the complimentary breakfast ends at 10 a.m. The surprise was on the last three days of our stay as issues began to arise. The first issue was our room did not have maid service and we came back in the evening having been gone all day to find an unmade bed and a pile of wet towels in our bath. The Hampton comped the cost of the room when we declined to be moved. The next morning at around 8 a.m. we could here workmen outside our room. Yes, the drink machine had to be switched that morning at the break of the work day. Huh? The final morning was another wake up call from workmen who were doing some repair that required loud voices and digging into the dropped ceiling and removal of the exit signs. I would suggest that guests be given the option of moving to another room when early repairs are scheduled. The breakfast is fairly standard fare, heavy on the sweets, but, if you look closer you can get cooked oatmeal, fruit in juice, hard boiled eggs and a toasted muffin. I think the food is pre-made and just warmed and it is heavy on the salt. There is a computer for the customers but it frequently needed attention by the staff before it could be used. The ink cartridges were on their last leg when I printed my boarding passes. If you stay here, request a room that overlooks the back of the hotel. The hotel sits on a highway that has major traffic and noise. The cost for the room is odd as we had two rates for our stay. Since I have just returned from 3 weeks in Scotland, I note that I could have stayed in a nice hotel in Edinburgh for the same expense. I think I will look around for other options if I return to Monroe that will give me more bang for my buck and more quiet for my sleep. read more
