"Clean, Comfortable Stay With Great Service" When I first walked into the lobby, there was a bit of a "weird" smell, and I even heard another guest complaining, so I was hesitant. But I asked for a room with two queen beds, plus extra towels and blankets, and the staff was quick, kind, and able to accommodate everything I needed. The room itself was very clean -- same with the bathroom. I love that they use Dove soap, and my kiddo loved the lotion, which was a nice touch. The beds were extremely comfortable; we were out cold within a couple of hours of getting settled. There were plenty of outlets for all our devices, which is always a huge plus. My only small complaint was the TV -- the bottom of the screen was shaky like it might be going out. We only used it to watch the game before bed, so it wasn't a big deal. Breakfast was good, service was great, and overall we had a comfortable stay. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I have been staying here once or twice a month for four years. Obviously I like it or I wouldn't keep coming back. This specific hotel is located in a cluster of about four different hotels. However, this one is located closest to the highway. The road noise can be loud inside your room if you are not careful in selecting your room. If you have your choice to select a room, always select a room that is on the backside of the hotel and furthest away from the highway. This helps drastically reduce the rumpling of big trucks as they drive by at 55+ mph. The rooms are are fairly large. Generally, I always choose a room that has a king-size bed. Most of the larger rooms have a small love seat with a coffee table, a work desk, and an extra chair. It is larger than some higher end hotels I have stayed in. The room itself is nothing fancy. However, mine have always been clean and the bed comfortable. I have always found the evening and night shift staff to be very friendly. I stay here enough that most of them regulars call me by name when I walk through the door. The free breakfast does not taste good so I typically do not partake. I'd rather drive a mile down to road to Chick-Fil-A and grab something that is fresh and actually tastes good. The coffee in the lobby is normally hot and fresh so I do have the tendency to run downstairs when I arise and grab a couple of cups of coffee instead of trying to make the stuff in my room. I like the lobby coffee better. Plus, they have better creamer in the lobby. Bottom line - Clean, comfortable rooms that are decent sized. A free bad breakfast cost them one star. Remember to stay in a room away from the highway. I've stayed here well over 40 times in the past four years so they must be doing something right. Enjoy your stay. I hope you sleep well. read more

Nice Hampton Inn but what really impressed me was the staff. Aimee at the front desk provided excellent service and caring regarding a room problem I had. The hotel is going thru a remodel of their lobby which will be a big improvement. My room was nice. PS. Even though I had a room furthest from the highway, traffic noise in the room was bad. Stayed a couple nights here. When I was a road warrior I would often stay at Hampton because it was reliable, comfortable beds, set up for business travel, etc. It's been a few years since then but I still tend to always think I can count on Hampton when in small obscure places. Wrong. This was probably the worst Hampton I have stayed at: ESPN was out so we couldn't watch the game, most importantly - the bed was super uncomfortable and unstable - not a standard Hampton bed, the wireless internet was inconsistent and kept dropping my devices while trying to stream ESPN since their cable wasn't working, and on the last morning when I wanted just a banana from the breakfast bar they were out. At 8AM. Sad. The check in experience was fine, it is close to the one Starbucks around, and it was clean, so an extra star for that. However, if we have to stay in Lufkin again, I will try the Courtyard instead. read more

Very disappointed in the fact that honesty doesn't exist anymore. I ended up staying here overnight Thursday due to storms, flooding and impassable roads in Houston. I woke up Friday and checked out and about 30 minutes later, realized that I left my black Bluetooth in the bed. I immediately returned for it and spoke to the front desk who reissued a key to the room. Upon entering the room, the beds had already been turned over. I asked for the housekeeper to return to the room so I can show them which bed I slept in and of course they're saying they didn't see it. Unless they're color blind, you can see anything black on white sheets. I'm very disappointed in the fact that they feel like it's okay to steal property that doesn't belong to them. read more

Liked the electronic keys. Hate trying to fit a card into the slot when your hands are full. On the first floor and it was very quiet at night, another big plus for me. Hotel is pretty new. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Used the fitness room. Glad they had free weights and a weight machine. Most in this price range have treadmills and one elliptical. My only complaint would be that my room was not very dark. Lots of light from the parking lot, under the door from the hall, and the surge protector plug in the room. Not too bad but I would recommend a higher floor to prevent the parking lot lights. I may be hypersensitive here and someone else might not be bothered. I like that they have a shower mat in the bathroom to put in the shower. I don't know how some of the other places I stay do not have people fall in the slick bottom showers. Do not eat breakfast so can not evaluate it but it is complimentary. Other than the light issue I had a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel. read more

About on par with most HI's. Convenient location to a couple of restaurants and the front desk on this visit went out of their way to check out a couple of things for me. Property is a little on the older side though with it's age showing mostly in the room furnishings/amenities Best feature is that they have partnered with a couple of local gyms to provide complimentary access while staying at the hotel. I kinda prefer the Courtyard about 15 mins away due to location and a newer feel but not a bad location overall. read more

So far, this is a great place, given the types of hotels you'll find in Lufkin. There are no five-stars, mind you, so your best bet is one of the many name-brand "Inns" or "Inn and Suites." I'm a suite guy myself, so I've now stayed at three different places in town (I go there for work.) This is my favorite so far. The staff is exceedingly friendly! The check-in clerk remembered me and called me by my name hours later after check-in when I left to grab dinner! I find that a little strange, but toally cool at the same time. The rooms are nice! I'm in a "studio suite" which means I get a kitchenette, but not a separate bedroom. I'm fine with that. I've got a flat panel, great wifi service, a desk, a couch, a chair and an oh-so-comfy bed. The bathroom is well-appointed too. The only drawback is that this property shares a driveway with three other hotels, and it's just outside of the city by a couple of miles. So you have to drive up to Lufkin to get food -- there's nothing immediately nearby. Still, the restaurants start at about a mile away, and if you go another mile, you'll get just about everything near the mall. It's just annoying to not have food near the hotel. But, that's neither here nor there. Also, because the hotel has this communal driveway, it's a nightmare to try to get across busy U.S. 59 and make a left turn to get into town. It's a four-lane divided highway at this point; hold your breath and hang on! But it's all worth it when you get home and have a nice bed to relax in. read more

Last night was my first night at this location. The staff is nice and was very helpful at check in. The room appeared to be clean but i started to get concerned when I saw hair in the shower and a dark ring in the toilet. I'm here on business and arrived late and rooms are limited. I'm sure this will be my last time. The breakfast was your typical breakfast at Hampton that includes Waffels, oatmeal, cereal, etc. They also offer the breakfast bags to go that are great. I had to fly in from CA to handle the last of my mothers funeral arrangements. They didn't know this and The Hampton Inn was just Amazing and the staff was always smiling, professional and persoalAWESOME ! The room was clean, bed was comfortable, sheets/blankets were very clean, small fridge and bathroom was clean. The breakfast was Hot and actually looked like a real eatable breakfast food unlike some other hotels. We had another family member fly in late Friday evening to attend my mothers funeral and they had no problem with accommodating a room late night and last minute, they actual gave us the room next door and that it was a adjoining room. We are planning a trip back to visit my mothers burial site and we will definitely be staying with the Hampton Inn :). Thank you. read more

Stayed here over night while visiting friends and family in town. Very clean and comfortable room. The bed was so comfortable! Liked the Neutrogena bath products. The only thing I was worried about was the highway noise, as this location is located next to one. Thankfully this location had a noise machine in our room, and we used it! Very good idea! Nice appearance and very friendly staff. First impression of place is positive - easy/prompt check-in process. Room was on 2nd floor with a jacuzzi. Room was clean and orderly, but (this is weird) floor of the room is leaning, creaky, and uneven. I know - hard to explain. Possibly the weight of the jacuzzi was not taken into account or there was a leak in the past and the flooring got wet/soggy - i dunno. Workout room is a bit cramped, but has all the essentials. Two people on anything but cardio machines would be too crowded (poor blueprint planning). The breakfast is actually better than most Hampton Inns. Freshly cooked eggs/hashbrowns/etc. instead of the pre-packaged garbage at most Hamptons. Still trying to figure out how I pay the same amount at Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, and Hampton for SIGNIFICANTLY different breakfast experiences - hmmm. Probably one of the nicer hotels in Lufkin, but has room for improvement. read more

Terrible customer service. Manager doesn't seem to care about the Hilton Honors loyalty guests and she won't respond back to missing nights. My room wasn't cleaned several days. I stayed a total of 6 nights and half of the stay it wasn't cleaned. Two nights I didn't get points for. One night is completely missing and she claims I didn't stay there even though I have a reservation number and a credit card bill. They seemed to check me out and back in everyday even though my reservation was a 6 night stay. One night they left a new girl working the desk on her first day who didn't even know where the guest laundry was. It's like they are running a monkey operation. Stay at Best Western or Courtyard by Marriott for better service for the same price so you don't have do deal with these idiots! read more
