Everything's great about it. Just know that I'm game weekend. It is super crowded. But it's also great to see all the fans together.

We were downtown for lunch and my son wanted to check for comic books. Unfortunately I noticed as soon as we walked in that it wasn't a 'book' sort of bookstore, but probably a textbook sort of bookstore. An employee confirmed. They did have a fabulous AYOP tank and shorts that my daughter loved, and my son did end up with a water bottle from Notre Dame for a souvenir. And the same great employee was very helpful at getting us checked out way faster than the family taking a while at the other register. read more

So this fine morning, me and my girlfriend decide to head on over to Eddy Street for a bite ! While enjoying our meal we decided to take a trip across the street and see what the Bookstore had. After shopping around and headed back to the car, we see that a set of pens that were ORIGINALLY priced at $12.98 had rung up $19.98. I decided to head in the store to try an politely sort the confusion. The cashier Lexi (whom was great btw) had called Justin over to help look at the product. Justin had tried to convince me the product was simply "placed in the wrong spot" but it was pretty transparent to me that the product was indeed stocked in that location and I had mentioned this to him. After this, Lexi had asked Justin if she should honor the clearly marked product, and after about 45 seconds of very loud humming and pondering, he decided he was going to do nothing to help me out and honor the pricing it was initially at. Instead, he instructed his team to quickly move the product so this wouldn't be an issue for him going forward. Very disappointed in Justin that he couldn't honor his stores mistakes. read more

Definitely the place to go if you're seeking Notre Dame paraphernalia. There's just about everything Fighting Irish-related you could want, from paper plates for your tailgate to ND-themed garden gnomes. Naturally there are books, not just textbooks: books on the history of the school, sports, religion, and then just regular old interesting stuff to read. It's really quite impressive in that realm. I will say that prices seemed to be on the high side, but I did pick up a few things that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else (i.e. not just a generic t-shirt that you could get at a sports store in the mall anywhere in the country), so those were nice souvenirs for friends. Overall, this is a great resource for the students of ND and a good place to find anything Irish-oriented. read more

Hammes Bookstore is a must-stop spot when visiting the Notre Dame campus. I have been here no less than a dozen times in the past seven years as my husband is a devoted ND Football Fan. This season, I stopped in twice. Both times were on Game Day and let me say that since I have never been here on any other day of the week, it's an absolute madhouse! There is nothing leisurely about a trip here on Game Day. There are fans of all ages literally moving about in swarms. It gets way too hot, way too fast under my ND hat, scarf, gloves and sweatshirt. And it's a blast! :-) The first floor has most of the apparel, the hats, the books and of course is where you will find "The Shirt". Upstairs is much less chaotic and the spot to find things like children's apparel, blankets, travel mugs, Christmas ornaments and the like. We spent a while up here looking for some baby wear for a coworker's son. I think we walked away pretty successful. Checkout. It's hit or miss. They have the line strategically weaving in and out of the bookshelves on the first floor. Each aisle is monitored by a staff member, so if you think you're gonna faint from the heat - it might be good to alert one of them. And sometimes it moves quickly. And sometimes it does not. I would strongly suggest only one person from each party standing in that line because once you get to a register it's a tight squeeze up there. And please, oh please, don't try to push a stroller through there on Game Day. While ND loves babies, there is not enough room to comfortably maneuver a stroller through all of those people. read more

We stopped in to exchange a shirt. We were greeted at the register and the guy explained where we needed to go to exchange something. Mark helped with the transaction and made it quick and easy! We will go back to this bookstore when we need more Notre Dame apparel. read more

I ordered an ornament on December 11th. I got an email that it was ready to be picked up. I went to the bookstore to pick it up on the 12th. I was told by the associate who went to look for it that it wasn't there. I showed him the email and he tells me that the email means that it will be ready in 48 hours. I told him the email said it IS READY FOR PICK UP. He argued me down about how they send that but it really means it will be ready in 48 hours. Nothing on the email said 48 hours. So I call on the 14th and I'm told that it's still not there, but it MIGHT be there in the afternoon. I was so done I didn't even call back to see if it was there. So I called today, the 15th and it still wasn't there. Ok so why did I get an email telling me it was ready? I find out from the most helpful rep I had that it hadn't made it across the street yet - not her words, but what she said was it was being fulfilled at the catalog center and it is literally across the street. They could walk there! I will never order online from them again that is the worse online experience that I have ever had and I always do online shopping. read more

The Notre Dame Bookstore staff are unfriendly and the merchandise is way over priced. If you are looking for ND gear go to Kohl's or J.C.Penney's they won't ripe you off like this place. It's only getting one sad star; though I'd like to give it none! read more

As a college head coach, I have been to so many college bookstores with college gear. This one is the biggest one of them all. So much stuff here. My girlfriend bought something on campus that was cheaper at this location. She was able to exchange it at Hammes. I got an ND track shirt from Adidas for only 8 dollars (they had a huge clearance sales on all tier sports shirts). I saw a cafe in there. I never seen so much college gear for one school in a store my whole life. Very cool and awesome! read more

Anything you could possibly want with a Notre Dame logo on it. I think their Peter Millar and Vineyard Vines sections over on the far left when you go in are must stops. but on game day it is so much more. This past weekend they had live music, games outside and THE REAL RUDY signing books. Got my pic with him. Such a cool thing to do. But my favorite part of the bookstore is that they employ so many special people, which so many stores just don't do. I enjoyed talking to some of these very friendly special employees and it just makes my day to know that Notre Dame is employing these people and giving them solid worthwhile jobs. It just says a lot about an institution that backs up its values with its actions. Well played, Hammes. read more

The extension of the larger campus bookstore, this location has a smaller selection of Notre Dame paraphernalia. If you don't want to beat the huge crowds at the bigger location, this is your go-to spot, however, be warned - you're missing out on a greater selection across the street. As always, expect items to be pricey. Stamp ND on anything and the price gets marked up substantially. But it's ok -- It's ND. ;) read more

Great bookstore with a good selection and decent prices on Notre Dame paraphernalia. Lots of sales and lots of little goodies for us to pick up. I was able to get a jersey for just around $30 and wore that for the Blue-Gold game that day. Service was friendly and so much stuff to choose from, definitely recommended! read more

My review is for the online Hammes Bookstore. Unfortunately I placed an order and selected 2 day shipping for the item. I received an email confirmation for the order that said I'd be receiving another email containing shipping information. It's almost a week later and I'm still waiting on that email! I've tried to contact the company via email multiple times with no response. So disappointed! I'd give zero stars if I could. Update: I spoke with a manager about the item that i STILL have yet to receive. He told me it had shipped out on Tuesday, however he could not provide me with any tracking information, because "it was shipped by a third party." Namely FedEx. I got in touch with FedEx and they informed me that there were no packages set to be delivered to my address. To add insult to injury, Hammes has already withdrawn the money from my account. I've NEVER written a review for anything in my life. Such a terrible and sketchy online site. BEWARE! read more

Very disappointed by their service and lack of response. I ordered two High end football jerseys and paid for expedited shipping the products did not arrive on time so I called and got no apology. I sent two separate emails to follow up and still received no response really poor poor customer service. read more

For those who are Notre Dame fans you will love this place. They have tons of items, and a small cafe inside. The only down-side is the prices. I feel they overcharge for a lot of their items, but someone must be paying it or they wouldn't still be here. read more
