In retrospect, I wish I would've spent more to avoid working with Brandon & Miranda. When I originally booked, I was told the start date would be May of that year. The start date was pushed back further and further. I had to reach out for any sort of communication, as Miranda rarely followed through on getting back to me. We got our front porch redone and had a back deck built. I was told he would do the front porch to start, then the back deck after so that my children would still be able to utilize our yard during summer. Instead, he started on the front porch and dug giant holes in my backyard - insisting this had to be the case for permitting reasons. But then once the job started, I only got a maximum of 2 HALF days of work per week. Again, barely got any communication during. I'd have to reach out asking when/if they'd return and I only got a response part of the time. My favorite was being told there'd be a delay bc of materials being late even though the materials had been delivered to my house a week prior. The job finally finished about 6ish weeks after it began. Much much longer than the 2 weeks I was originally told. But I figured whatever, we'll leave it alone since it's done and they looked good. Except the quality was crap too. He changed the back deck plans without ever communicating that it'd be different (one side abruptly stopped creating a 4ft drop to concrete and I have small children & he built around a post we talked about him removing). Within a year, multiple rails on the front porch were coming off & the wood on the back deck was rippling, peeling in multiple places, & corner pieces were separating. I reached out 1 year before the 2 year limit in the contract was met but was told for the next year that I was "top of the repair list and Brandon would be out soon to assess and fix." He never came. Miranda never communicated. I even expressed concern that she was intentionally delaying it past the 2 year mark and I have her saying in writing that they'd honor it but it's been almost another whole year since I've even gotten a response. So, you might pay less going with Brandon but you're going to pay for that difference elsewhere. Strongly do not recommend!!!!!

If you're looking for a Trex style deck, this company is definitely the ones you want to hire for your project, as they're an officially certified Trex dealer, which means not only are they well versed/educated in the product, Trex backs their work in every aspect right down to the Trex guarantee. Trex has three different levels of products & I wanted to point out we went with their 50 year warrantied product specifically because the 50 year had considerably more color choices than the 35 year one did. Does it cost more than their other options? Yes. Will we be able to enjoy the full 50 years of use out of it? Nope, because we'll be long gone before that time is up! BUT, the color options as well as the wood grain finish are much nicer (in my opinion) than the other two choices. The workers were professional, friendly as well as accommodating to our needs. And when the job was completed, you couldn't even tell they were here because of the spotless clean up they performed. The owner, Scott, was a pleasure to deal with & was chock full of information about the product he's selling. We could really tell he enjoys what he does for a living because it shows in his enthusiasm when discussing Trex, us asking questions he was able to honestly answer & forthright about the pros & cons of the product. This deck replaced our 13 year old wood deck, which I was tired of continuously replacing the boards on for the past three years as well as it not holding up the paint job. This Trex decking is absolutely beautiful, pleasant to walk on without shoes & just an all around fabulous product. Believe me when I say the photos don't do it justice, you gotta see it in person!

After professional cleanup, the headache of dealing with an insurance adjuster, and the due diligence of meeting with multiple contractors to get bids on putting the basement back together, we went with Rentz Remodeling and Contracting. And wow. The difference between someone like Matt Rentz and other contractors we've dealt with has been night and day. A selfish part of me wants to keep this knowledge to myself, in case we need him again, but he's too good NOT to share. First of all, his bid was extremely fair. Since we were dealing with repairs and not an elective home remodel, we didn't have a ton of money set aside. Just what was left of insurance after a not-great cleanup crew charged us through the nose. Matt detailed out everything he would do to fix the basement, with line items for both labor and cost of materials. There was no guessing or having to ask for more detail; he came prepared with paperwork and was always extremely open about what everything cost. Secondly, he and his crew were incredibly polite and professional. In a pandemic, having new people in your house is always a little anxiety-provoking. The first thing they did when they arrived is put up a plastic zip door between the basement stairs and the rest of the house. And they never came through it into the main house. We worked out a system where he would text if he needed to ask any questions, which meant I could go anywhere in the house without worrying that I couldn't hear them if they needed anything. But for the most part, they came and went according to the needs of the work, and I didn't have to do much of anything at all. Thirdly, Matt and his crew are not just great contractors, but good guys. We had a problem with the hose discharge line for our sump pump freezing over during a cold snap, so my husband had temporarily removed it. Matt noticed and pointed out that he'd seen excess water leak through basement walls before, and texted with me about potential solutions we could try ourselves to keep it functional through the winter. Not an upsell--but just because he had knowledge he thought we could use. I'd recommend Rentz Remodeling and Contracting to anyone. (I've already given his name to a few friends.) And the next time we need anything done around the house, these guys are at the top of my list. A++, 10/10.

We hired Justin to do a large 4-stage project in our front and backyard. He tapped off the main…read morewater line and created a brand new irrigation system that feeds over 30 palms and a ton of grass. He put in a decomposed granite driveway back to our shop. He then put in a large patio made of pavers. Lastly he prepared the ground and laid sod in our front and back yard. Plus he moved a mature palm and planted 3 king palms, multiple sego palms, and some Japanese box hedge plants near my front door. He is very professional and communicative. By the end he become a friend of ours. He continues to check in and make sure the grass is doing well, adjusts the sprinklers as needed, and gives us advice on lawn care.
