Initially planned on using Area Exteriors to install a garage door opener I had purchased from Lowe's scheduled through their scheduling service "Handy". Two people came out to install the opener and after looking at my garage door for less than 2 minutes said that it couldn't be installed and I needed to buy a side mounted opener because it would be a lot easier. He told me once I had that opener to call the office not Lowe's and they would come back out. The side-mounted opener was almost three times the cost of the one I purchased and luckily for me I have enough knowledge of this trade to know he wasn't correct. So I called Lowe's to send another company out who was able to install the opener in about an hour with no issue. After digging in with Lowe's a bit, I learned that contractors receive some of their pay even if a job cannot be completed so these individuals simply did not want to complete a task that was more difficult than average. My guess is they simply went to lunch instead. I would not use this company to even screw in a lightbulb, they clearly can't be trusted and only have their best interest at hand. read more
