TLDR: Photographer no-showed on our Christmas card shoot. I tried to reschedule as a newborn shoot…read moresince it was too late for card photos. While we were trying to schedule, she said a newborn shoot would be extra. I requested a refund and she refused. Update: Talula's response misrepresents a lot of important information. We never actually rescheduled the Christmas card session, we only discussed my willingness to. She proposed a date but I declined because I had a family emergency and had to leave town. Therefore, it is inaccurate to say that I "rescheduled and then cancelled". Instead, I asked to pivot to a mini newborn-style shoot since we no longer had a need for Christmas card photos, and she agreed with no mention of added cost or clarification of what that meant. Later on she proposed a possible date, I told her it worked for me and asked how to prepare. The following day she said she thought we were doing a family shoot and mentioned it would be an upcharge for a newborn shoot. That should have been disclosed earlier. After she no-showed the original shoot and failed to clearly communicate the terms of a replacement session, a refund would have been the legally appropriate and professional response according to the contract. Instead, she's continued to shift the narrative to excuse poor handling of the situation.

I've known for years that I have wanted to hire Sarah to do the photography for my wedding--when I…read morefirst saw her work, I instantly fell in love with her style. By her own admission, Sarah works much more in a photojournalistic style; she focuses on telling a story through her photos, capturing moments and images that are both evocative and beautiful. I also appreciated that her portfolio was more muted and subtle with light and color. I personally find that many photographers are much too bright, even over-exposed, and I didn't want to have to worry about that. Going into the wedding planning, I knew that photography was going to be the largest single thing my wife and I were going to spend money on, so our expectations were high. Despite those high expectations, Sarah still absolutely blew us away! She was professional, communicative, and extremely easy to work with. Going in, Sarah was clear to ask us questions and get clarification for what we wanted from her. Even though she was travelling from doing a wedding the day before in another state, she was punctual, timely, and ready to go. She was perfectly unobtrusive during all the key moments of the day, yet managed to capture them beautifully. She took requests with grace, and even prompted us for photos during the reception that we were exceedingly grateful to have. She took to heart the requests we had made prior to the wedding and followed through with them with precision and care. More than anything else, I was extremely impressed with her vision and direction. Her experience spoke volumes--she was able to guide my wife and I with clarity and directness, while never pushing us or making us feel rushed. Consequently, we have an absolute abundance of really unique photos in a variety of backdrops and settings, all displaying us in our day of bliss. And with the whirlwind that is the wedding day, it has given us so much joy to look through them all again and relive all those moments. I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough!

Bottom Line: Best photographer in the Annapolis area for headshots and family photos!…read more If you are thinking about booking an appointment with Heather Crowder for photography just do it! The glowing reviews on Google and the gorgeous images on her website unequivocally speak to the talent and professionalism of Heather Crowder and her photography. Additionally, she is a beautiful and delightful person. Earlier this year I needed new professional headshots. I fumbled around the internet trying to find the right photographer for me and then I received a graduation announcement in the mail that included a stunning photo of the graduate taken by Heather Crowder. At that point I was positive that Heather Crowder was my photographer of choice. I subsequently looked at her website and the Google reviews which further bolstered my confidence in her abilities and my choice. I had several email exchanges and phone calls with Heather in advance of my session and all of them were warmhearted and beneficial. I felt well prepared and at ease with Heather when picture day rolled around! I also used the professional hair and makeup artist provided by Heather and she was top notch! Generally, I would much rather go to the dentist or jury duty than get my picture taken but Heather made it a comfortable experience and my images turned out better than I could have imagined! Heather knows how to give directions for the perfect, flattering pose. She also reads body language well and could tell when a pose felt unnatural for me or I was getting tired or too warm. Heather's talent goes beyond the camera. On the day of my session Heather helped me pick out my outfits and assisted me with getting jewelry on, rolling cuffs, etc. I really appreciated having her help me with these details. I also appreciate that she understands branding and knows how to create photos that represent one's person brand. She wants everyone to look and feel like the best version of themselves and she was instrumental in helping me achieve that. I had my photos taken at the lovely Lightbox Studio in the Annapolis Arts District on West Street. The studio place is bright, contemporary and inspiring but for those who prefer another location, Heather can accommodate that as well. Regarding the Lightbox Studio, there is some nearby street parking and a garage about a block away so that was convenient. I love my portraits taken by Heather and I hightly recommend her!

Pop Wed Co is the best! Maggie is a phenomenal photographer and Stephen is a great officiant. We…read moreloved working with them, and they made our tiny wedding dreams come true. We had SO MUCH FUN on our wedding day, thanks to them, and experienced zero stress. They're a blast to work with, and everyone who's seen our pictures and heard about our "pop-up wedding" has been impressed and enthralled with the whole concept. I'm so glad I read about it, because it really is an innovative compromise between the big traditional wedding and the courthouse elopement. We knew that neither of us wanted the former, but I also knew that aesthetics are important enough to me that I wouldn't have been totally happy with the latter either. A pop-up wedding was perfect for us. Other awesome things: - We got our wedding pictures the next night! It was crazy, and such a nice surprise! Usually people wait weeks for those. - My husband and I are not photogenic. We're just not. But you would never guess that from our wedding photos. Maggie had a way of bringing out the best in us. We were so comfortable and giddily happy and stress free, that--not trying to sound vain here! it's a testament to her photography skills!--we look amazing in those photos. - The cake they provide is phenomenal. I didn't care about cake at all, but this was SO GOOD!

Steven was our officiant for our Pi Day wedding hosted at &Pizza (Columbia Heights location) and…read morewas generous and accommodating. He took the time to ensure we knew when, where and how to get the certified copy of a marriage certificate. He also ensured we were able to include little touches like a preferred poem and even came up with a way to include my parents bible verses. Rachel did a remarkable job of photographing our special day. She was stealthy good, my husband I both commented "when did she get that shot"? I included a few of my personal favorites from the day.

Over several meetings she made comments about other people's weddings songs, and how she didn't want to do our wedding but was glad that our wedding included her "favorite songs." She continually alluded to this other wedding of whom we loosely knew who the other people were. It was very annoying. She continually sent us tasks to do that were due by the end of the day with both my bride and me having full time jobs. We were also told by another couple that they "accidentally" received our wedding day itinerary from Valerie. Which was extremely unprofessional. Finally on the day of, her crew were late, and the DJ played songs out of order. I will say that the final product was outstanding and our wedding was fantastic. Tommy, the owner, was great, but Valerie made the experience less than desirable and extremely stressful for a day that is supposed to be exciting. Why it's a 3 star review.
