Shockingly Unprofessional, Unethical, and a Total Waste of Time…read more I wish I could give zero stars. My appointment here was an absolute joke from start to finish. Most of my visit was spent filling out information on a tablet and waiting. When I finally got into a room, nearly the entire interaction was with an assistant who didn't address the issue I came in for. Dr. Chismar eventually came in, glanced at my skin from about six feet away for maybe a minute, said there was "no way to know" what my condition was or what caused it, and then abruptly left for a supposed phone call. She never returned. Instead, the assistant came back with several prescriptions -- none of which were explained to me. Trying to get any clarification was pointless. I was shuffled to the front desk and told to pay $349 with insurance, even though I had been quoted $130-$215 for self‑pay. When I said I preferred to self‑pay, I was told it was "illegal" not to use my insurance -- which is absolutely false. After I called them out, they backtracked on the "illegal" claim but still refused to let me self‑pay, saying it was "policy." Their policy is deceptive, unethical, and predatory. I left with no diagnosis, no answers, no plan, and a much lighter wallet. My entire day off was wasted. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else.

Her last visit was on August…read more25, 2025, at the Alpharetta location where she saw Dr. Laney Hales for the second time (previously she was under the care of Dr. Susan Spitzler, but for unknown reasons she is no longer seen by her). While her acne treatment initially showed progress, the improvements had seriously declined over the past year and we were already considering transferring to another specialist. The real issue, however, is not the medical results -- it is the unacceptable and unlawful billing practices we encountered after this most recent visit. We received over five phone calls and a voicemail in less than 24 hours from "Rose," who admitted that she had made an error in insurance verification. At checkout, our daughter entered her Blue Cross Blue Value insurance information and was explicitly told by the front desk staff that the insurance was accepted. We made the required $55 co-pay transaction, and that was the only authorized payment. Now, after the fact, we are being told that Spectrum "no longer accepts Blue Cross Blue Value as of April 2025," and they are attempting to retroactively treat this as a self-pay account. This is a misrepresentation of payment terms and an unfair business practice. Under O.C.G.A. § 10-1-393 (Georgia Fair Business Practices Act) and 15 U.S.C. § 45 (Federal Trade Commission Act, Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices), a business cannot misrepresent services, payment terms, or insurance acceptance to a consumer, collect money under one agreement, and then attempt to enforce new terms after payment was already made. We explicitly dispute any additional charges beyond the $55 co-pay we authorized. By law, this constitutes a transaction agreement, and attempting to coerce additional payment after providing verbal assurance of insurance acceptance may also violate O.C.G.A. § 13-6-11 (Bad Faith and Harassing Conduct in Contract Enforcement). Furthermore, the conduct of the staff was unprofessional and dismissive. The office manager even remarked that she had to "step out of her very important meeting" to speak with me -- as if patients who have paid faithfully since 2022 are of no importance. The stress and hostility of this experience were completely unacceptable. We have maintained accurate records of our payments and communications and will defend our position under applicable state and federal consumer protection laws. Patients deserve honesty, respect, and transparency -- none of which we received from Spectrum Dermatology of Atlanta in Alpharetta.

A bonus is that she's pleasant although I'm not looking for a new friend when I choose a physician but rather a well trained professional provider. I moved away from the area in 2006 and, with the exception of 2 years, I have continued my care with her from a distance of 1 to 2 hours away. I continue my association with her and her practice for the same reasons I experienced more than 20 years ago. Her thoroughness gives me confidence that I'm receiving the best care possible. Although it wasn't a quick procedure, Dr Nalovic is amazingly thorough. I felt no pain whatsoever. This was the third surgery I've had done by her. Since then, I have had facials, laser treatments, Botox, lip fillers, under eye fillers, lash tints and lifts, and now laser hair removal. There is honestly nothing I wouldn't trust them to do. Upon checking in the morning, I declined to fill-out their bi-annual office questionnaire. After getting called back and to my surprise Dr. Goodman himself entered may private room and asked me to complete the office's questionnaire, I politely declined, explaining that I didn't believe it was medically necessary. Rather than respecting my choice, Dr. Goodman took offense, insisting that my refusal was disrespectful to him personally. I calmly reiterated that it was simply a questionnaire I preferred not to complete. He then raised his voice, repeatedly accusing me of being disrespectful and even stating, "I can make you do anything" since it was his practice. I remained polite throughout the encounter and still declined, but his rude behavior made me extremely uncomfortable--especially given that I was about to undergo a medical procedure with another doctor and assistant present in the room. What kind of a narcissist (doctor) cares more about his office survey getting completed than how his patients are feeling prior to having skin cancer removed? Hard pass on Marcus Goodman.

I have been a patient of Marietta Dermatology for over 25 years. I have come annually for a full…read morebody exam resulting in your doctors catching and treated a couple of troubling pre-cancers with Mohs surgery. I am very grateful for that. Today, when I went for my annual body exam, I was told not to undress, but to simply remove my top as I would only be examined above the waist, with the below the waist exam to be scheduled for six months later. Although Onyx did a heroic job of trying to convince me that this was medically prudent and necessary, she was not able to convince me that this was anything but a marketing decision. I find that very troubling. When I go to my retina specialist, I expect and receive a full examination of both eyes. When I go to my dentist for cleaning and an exam, they don't merely clean and exam the upper teeth with the assurance that they will get to the lower teeth in six months. I cannot fathom why, other than acting on the advice of a marketing consultant, you would adopt this new and bewildering scheduling. If it's a matter of profit for the practice, I would far prefer that you charge me double to do a full, thorough exam rather than putting me through the aggravation and inconvenience of having to come twice for half an exam each time. At the time of the initial appointment, I had itching behind my knee, but it was not addressed because the lower body inspection didn't happen. Two days after my appointment with Onyx, I developed a serious fungus rash on the back of my knee. Because of knee replacement surgery, any infection there is concerning. When the pathology report came back for the skin on my arm that Onyx removed, it was level zero Melanoma. I said to Onyx that I was just damned lucky that spot had been on my arm and not my leg. Her response was that if it had been, they'd have found it on my next appointment which would have been six months later. Yet she assured me that the level zero Melanoma was an urgent issue that must be addressed immediately. I trust you can understand my confusion at the urgent need for surgery vs. it being perfectly okay to delay catching and treating Melanoma had it been on my leg. Because of the mixed messages I received from Onyx, I decided to do the prudent thing and get a second opinion. When I came in to pick up my records, the gal said that you had canceled my surgery with you and that I could contact the Mohs surgery center to have them do it. Frankly, Dr. Camp, that felt like a dismissal. I have lost confidence in your practice and wanted to give you the courtesy of letting you know why you've lost a loyal patient of over two decades. And for a follow up, because I sent them this letter and delayed surgery with them until I got my second opinion, I got a tersely worded letter from them telling me I had 30 days to pick up my records and find another provider. That feels an awful lot like patient abandonment to me. But, jokes on them, I would not have gone back there anyway.
