The Hamburger Stand's menu is incredible!
    Orlean L.

From the ambiance, customer service, and meal, The Hamburger Stand gets 5-stars from me. The Business Owner working alone on a Saturday fall afternoon and adeptly handling the customers, phone calls, and kitchen speaks of his passions for customer service and the art and science of the hospitality industry. I went to The Hamburger Stand on Saturday, 20 September 2025, at 1726PDT, after a day of meandering the SR-190. I typically end my day with a classic American meal. Par for the course will find me chowing down on an #AllAmerican #cheeseburger, #onionrings, and #chocolateshake. And, that's EXACTLY what I got at The Hamburger Stand and their version is DEEEEELICIOUS!! Of note, I'm a no frills kinda guy, so I'm not always diggin' that high-brow foodie stuff. But, rather, I'm typically seeking out comfort foods. Foods I was raised on. Foods that brings me back to my youth. Those days when a bite into a good burger quickly hurls me back to a distant memory with my Family or Friends, while its savoriness keeps my taste buds, heart, and stomach happily sated. And, THAT'S what The Hamburger Stand's did for me. I got their Regular Cheeseburger Meal combo of cheeseburger, small order of french fries, and a medium soda for $7.99. After I asked, the Owner said he would switch out onion rings for the fries and a chocolate shake for the soda. And, honestly, I can't recall if he charged me extra for it; I assumed he did, but I really should've checked, because food costs can be hard for a Business Owner. So, the next time I come back (yes, I plan to return), I'll be sure to add a bit more to the tip, along with an explanation. I love being up in the mountains - I spent the day driving California's SR-190 to Ponderosa - so, The Hamburger Stand's ambiance and seating are super cool. The woodsy feeling brought me back to the mountains of the United States, Austria, Germany, or Switzerland; and, I'm actually not joking! When I got to The Hamburger Stand, there was a small group of young Kids and a Dad and his Daughter who were waiting for their order. Overhearing the Owner taking a phone order, I heard him say he was unexpectedly busy and he was the only one working that day -- trademarks of a dedicated Business Owner and Entrepreneur. Taking my order, he summarily apologized for being under-staffed, so I let him know I empathized with him. Having owned a small bistro and I was once a worker, leader, supervisor, and manager I've gone through the exact same issues, so I let him know that I was not in a hurry. He was grateful. While watching him work, it was obvious he was a seasoned restaurant Owner - he was never frazzled, answered questions and phone calls adeptly, and worked the kitchen like a pro. The Owner brought me my meal and I then said grace, thanking The Lord for this meal, asking Him to bless the Business Owner, their Staff, Customers, and Suppliers. From the first bite to the final swipe of the napkin, the cheeseburger was perfect (after I put in the ketchup), the onion rings were scrumptious and perfectly cooked, and the chocolate shake was silky smooth. Don't laugh, but the red plastic tray, red-and-white checkerboard paper mat, and simple napkins completed my comfort food setting. Lol Again, from the ambiance, customer service, and meal, The Hamburger Stand gets 5-stars from me. The Business Owner was working alone on a Saturday fall afternoon while adeptly handling the customers, phone calls, and kitchen speaks of his passions for customer service and the art and science of the hospitality industry. GOD bless him and his Family!

First time going Sunday night ., the very nice girl took my order at 6:51pm the place was busy there was a nice guy cooking .,, customers that came in were very friendly as we wait for our food.. the people that were inside dining were families that worked there.. one girl that worked there went back and got her drinks., but as still sitting there the other people that wer coming in got there food .,, and they were 1 or 2 people getting there food first ., still waiting I see the cook guy on his phone and eating .,, my ticket was the only one on the real ..my order was 2 burgers , two chicken strip baskets. 1 small and 1 large shake 2 sodas. 1 fry, 1 onion ring 1 fried mushrooms which were $66.97 ok that was ok but the burger was old bun the tiny thin as paper meat .., finally we received our order at 7:48pm

Stopped by to try the milkshakes, I couldn't believe they had 100 flavors. I tried the piña colada and it had chunks of pineapple, so delicious.

Look how big these chicken strips are!

We arrived on a Monday around 4:30pm after a nature walk in this beautiful little town. The Hamburger Stand had consistent customers but we were quickly able to place our orders and the wait wasn't bad at all. There was one woman cooking and one running the register, cleaning tables, and serving tables. The walls were lined with historic photos, heirlooms, and collectables from a century ago and told a beautiful story of old logging times. The server was very nice and served us our food at our table. The sodas were super sweet and sugary and had more flavor due to the extra syrup I suppose they add to their drinks. We really enjoyed them. My wife and I ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and they were awesome! I'd never had fried pickles before and these were cut into strands like french fries, battered and fried; crispy and crunchy. We dipped them in the homemade ranch dressing and they crunched with every bite and were very flavorful. My wife ordered Half of a ranch hand and said that the burger was extremely juicy and filling. To say my chicken strip basket was filling would be an understatement. The chicken strips were so large I would swear that each one was half a chicken breast. They were juicy and crunchy and the homemade ranch and bbq sauce was excellent. Their fries are also clearly made in house, salted to perfection and crispy and fresh. We both put back all the calories we had burned off on our walk and then some, but it was enjoyable, affordable and extremely satisfying food with a pleasant view out the window of the mountains as a backdrop. We both highly recommend Springville's Hamburger Stand and will be stopping in again very soon!

As we arrived early, we had our choice of picking our seating. So we chose to sit near the huge windows facing Porterville's Main Street. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Our mains took a bit to get but our drinks and appetizer came out fairly quickly. The drinks we ordered were refreshing and fruity. Not too heavy on the alcohol but more than enough to definitely get a buzz. The steak bites were very tasty. Hearty and full of flavor with the balsamic glaze we chose. There is another option to pick a more savory option which is a garlic butter. Would definitely order again. The avocado toast was delicious, not shy of avocado and plenty of toppings. My only complaint would be for a more hearty and thicker sliced bread. Otherwise a good breakfast choice. The Cajun chicken pasta was amazing! Full of flavor, creamy, with a touch of heat and great house made pasta. The proteins were cooked perfectly. I was genuinely surprised that they serve their FULL dinner menu as part of their brunch menu. My wife and I will definitely return.

Now the flour tacos are just plain hamburger meat. To top it off, they're only half the size they used to be. The "Coleman's" steak sandwich is now almost $10 just for the sandwich! It isn't even close to what the original tasted like. This place will be out of business soon. They have all of Coleman's old recipes handed down to them in a book. I ordered the steak sandwich combo, and it tasted pretty much like I remembered. It was very filling, it doesn't look like much, not too pretty, but it's a good sandwich especially if you want something a little different than a typical burger. People working at the drive-through window are always very nice and polite and I have not had an issue with any of my orders. You do need to wait a little longer than a typical drive-through, but I never mind. As I mentioned in a previous review I do wish it was easier to get in and out of the parking lot depending on traffic it can be a little tricky because of the location of the entry/exit spots and the timing of the traffic lights. They have a wide variety of foods so if you are feeding a family or group with different wants this would give you a pretty good choice of making everyone happy.

One of them suggested we try Don Vinos as they have a decent bar area. We went on Friday evening and it wasn't a little busy but not so much that it was obnoxious. Also, even though it was busy, our waitress was on it. As soon as we sat down, she brought over menus and took our drink orders. When I asked about what kind of margaritas they had, she informed me which ones were made with fresh in-house squeezed juice. They all sounded amazing but I opted for the standard with fresh squeezed lemon/lime juice. Our drinks were brought to us not 5 minutes later and then we gave our orders. We ordered the chips and guacamole as an appetizer for the table. It was brought out shortly after we ordered it and was a good portion for 4 people. However, I just wish the guac had more salt as it was a bit bland. For an entree, I opted for the Chili Verde Pizza, which seemed to be the perfect item from this place (an Italian themed restaurant with several Mexican dishes). And, oh man...was this amazing. They use the chili verde sauce as the sauce for the pizza, which is brilliant. Also, the pork had just enough spice. All of my friends and I enjoyed our entrees except for one: A friend of mine had ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo he had on a previous trip to Don Vino's but told me that the new preparation was different from his last time having the dish and it was not as great as before. Other than that, we all finished our dishes and were satisfied. I definitely recommend Don Vino's as a must go in Porterville. The only things keeping me from giving it a 5-star review were the guac being a bit bland and the consistency of dishes being a bit off for my friend. Also, if you don't like super loud restaurants, this might be a skip as the acoustics in there are loud. Other than that, the servers are attentive, the drinks are delicious, and the food is good.
