    The Corset Factory

I'm going into my fourth year at the Corset Factory and I still absolutely love it here. I have a…read moretwo bedroom apartment that is very spacious and bright. The unit I'm in has beautiful exposed beams and brick and the tall windows let in a ton of light. I like living in places that have an historic feel to them and this place definitely delivers. You can really feel the history of the old factory here (in a good way). I also love being so close to downtown South Norwalk. I've lived in Norwalk for over 17 years and never truly came to appreciate it until I moved to SoNo. Another reviewer complained about hearing the neighbors. Maybe I've just been lucky, but that really hasn't been a problem from me. I'm 47 and this is the first time I've ever lived in an apartment building. I thought noise would be a problem, but it really hasn't been. My neighbors are great. There are two dogs on my floor that I rarely ever hear. About two years ago they added an outside common area with a fire pit, grills and planters. Its an absolutely fantastic place to hang out on a nice evening. The grounds are kept very clean as is the inside of the building. I have had no issues whatsoever with the management. They have been quick to respond to me and have always been courteous. The maintenance folks have also been great. The building super is a nice, friendly guy. The few times I've needed work done, he did a fantastic job. I just renewed my lease for a fourth year. I would highly recommend the Corset Factory to anyone looking to rent in the Norwalk area.

I lived in the Corset Factory for three years. The physical space of this apartment complex is…read morebeautiful. Lots of brick and huge windows. Feels like a renovated industrial-area loft. The ceiling is quite thin from a noise perspective so I could hear everything my upstairs neighbor did (including sneeze and repeat watching of the entire Rocky movie series). But thankfully the neighbors were not so loud that I couldn't tolerate it for three years. However, down the hall was a resident with two dogs that never stopped barking. The management company did nothing to resolve it and I can't imagine what it was like living next door to them. Also, the heat/air conditioning systems is REALLY loud. Loud as in pause the TV and stop talking until it shuts off. Despite some positive aspects such as location and physical appeal, the management company/leasing office (Spinnaker Real Estate Partners in South Norwalk) is the WORST I have ever dealt with. Rude, arrogant, incompetent, unprofessional, poor communication skills, generally unavailable and unhelpful. BEWARE they also manage the new IRON WORKS buildings. I'd highly recommend staying away from both properties if you ever intend to interact with management or leasing. Or if you hope to get your deposit back. It has nothing to do with damage or deductions from the deposit (I received the full deposit back), but I had to personally follow up with the management company multiple times to figure out how I was going to get the deposit back. If I hadn't been so persistent, I would never have received it. In my experience, the management never responded to emails, answered the phone, or replied to voicemails. Finally, to get my questions answered I had to physically show up in the management office and corner the manager. Its a nice place to live and reasonably priced, but save yourself the headache and frustration if you can and find somewhere else.

I am current tenant and I must say other than being close to SONO there is nothing else to brag…read more about living at Soundview Landing. It's a nightmare. Management does not do a good job about enforcing policies and adjusting new rules for new issues. I work from home and the only quiet time I get is early in the morning. Once the kids get home from school all you hear is screaming outside in the playground. kids are left there without parent supervision. Kids leave garbage in the hallways, stairwells , and run around. Parents need to understand that other people live here. This is not daycare . Take responsibility and show your kids to respect. There have been many times past 8:30 PM and kids are still outside screaming and making the a hell of an experience for me as a tenant who pays a lot of money to live here. After 10 PM, we have other adult residents and friends outside hanging out smoking pot, drinking alcohol and listening to music. This is not a bar. There's people who actually need to be up early for work. GO TO A BAR! If you can't afford going to a bar, stay inside. There Is also another male resident who thinks he is a DJ and blasts music in the middle of the night. He walks around with his giant speaker at different times of the night. I had to call the cops several times. if you're reading this, don't live here. The walls are thin. Depending which apartment you live in you might hear your neighbor through the wall. Don't let the new kitchen and floors fool you. I can't wait to be out of here. This place Is the projects of Norwalk with nicer floors and cheaper construction. Also, don't expect To hear back from management until maybe one week later. they been using the excuse of being short staffed for a long time. I don't care. Do your job. You're here to listen to us and take care of issues. Stop collecting our money and expect to do nothing afterwards. It's ridiculous how upsetting writing this review is. is time to make a change.

Within 5 minutes of parking, this apartment complex put a boot on my car and charged me $110 to take it off. The parking lot was completely empty. The management has ZERO common courtesy or respect towards their prospective buyers, which makes me think they will have zero respect for you if you rent here. Highly recommend against giving this place a chance. RE Comment: You should make that more clear when people pull into your complex. You put a boot on my car in an empty parking lot after 5 minutes. No respect, no common courtesy, no excuses. Why don't you refund me the balance if you care so much?

Here are a few reasons why we love living here: - We live on the water side and it's quiet, beautiful, and peaceful. The floor to ceiling windows are to die for! - The building is well built, we've never heard our neighbors. - The roof deck is amazing day or night. - Laura and Maria manage the building and could not be nicer, more responsive, or helpful. - Everyone who works at Ironworks goes above and beyond. - The cleaning staff is constantly working to keep the premises spotless - The location is unbeatable. The best restaurants and bars are literally right outside your front door. - Everyone who lives here is super nice To compare, prior to Ironworks, we lived at the Waypointe in Norwalk for three years. The Ironworks building, management, location, and overall experience is not comparable. Ironworks wins out hands down every time.

Do not **under any circumstances** move in here - especially apartment 211 (or any x11!! There are…read moreseveral issues with this place. There is one plus I can think of mentioning - it's a convenient location to lots of restaurants, SoNo MTA station and freeway access. Now for the rest of the story... Noise. It doesn't matter what side of the building you're on, you will be subjected to any litany of nuisance noise issues. The north side faces the train tracks - every 15 minutes from 5:30AM to 11:45PM then, in the overnight hours, come the freight trains. If you're really unlucky and live over the Water St. parking entry you'll also get garbage collectors at 6:45AM. If you face the courtyard you may think it's a nice area if you're touring in the daytime but at night it's an absolute hellhole. Every restaurant has loud outdoor speakers, drunks, smokers, patio areas with drunks, yelling, screaming, all litany of awful things that goes until 2-3AM several nights of the week (and every weekend). If you live on the side facing the water near Water & Washington Streets like I did, they will try to mislead you like they did to me by saying "Washington Prime is a steakhouse so it's really quiet, it's a great place to live near." Absolutely not - after 10PM it turns into a nightclub with loud outdoor speakers, house music, drunks, smokers, etc. Four times each year WP has seasonal parties where a guest DJ comes in with music so loud that things fell of my walls. My dog was a wreck, the floor vibrated, certainly sleeping was out of the question, it was awful and it went until 3AM. Traffic (and more noise). Washington St. is a major thoroughfare even if they try telling you like they did me that there's only some traffic during morning/evening rush hours. I wish!! Anytime I95 is backed up this becomes a main alternative where traffic can be backed up for a mile or more across the bridge into East Norwalk. The entire street is a parking lot and you will continually battle with semis, loud motorcycles, muscle cars, etc. starting at 5AM going until 10PM (or later on weekends). Housekeeping. Two common areas are a regular problem - trash room & the courtyard grassy spot next to El Segundo. The trash room has one small bin for recycling which is not adequate for an entire floor of apartments so the room is often covered in recycling because there's nowhere else to put it. The courtyard is littered with cigarette butts, bar trash, straws, drink cups, food tossed on the ground, etc. It's disgusting and if you have a dog you'll likely have a hard time walking through here without them eating god-knows-what off the ground. Sewage smell in shower. My apartment has a master shower (in addition to a bathrub and a guest bathroom with a shower/bath combo). The master shower had a perpetual, foul sewage smell especially if it was hot outside and/or hot water first turned on. It was nauseating and made me sick to my stomach. I complained about this several times and was told it was addressed but never got any better. Yes, I scrubbed my shower every 1-2 weeks with a stiff bristle brush and the odor was clearly coming from the drain so it wasn't a cleaning issue. Insects. I complained several times that I had small black flies coming from the same master bath shower. I opened maintenance tickets and was told "it's been addressed" but, again, never fixed the problem. What's worse (and is the straw that put me over the finish line on telling them I was moving out) was when I took a shower and saw a little black speck on my shampoo bottle. I went to flick it off and saw it move!! That's when I looked closer and saw it was a worm and, not just one worm, but on the bottom of the bottle it was a TON of worms. I jumped out of the shower to take a closer look and that's when I noticed that the shower was alive - thousands of black worms that looked like baby leeches were squirming and wriggling on the tile floor, the walls, the shampoo bottle... OMG, I can't tell you how grossed out I was. I poured bleach on them and that just made them all crawl up the walls; I poured salt on them and it made them just move faster. It was beyond disgusting. In fairness, as soon as I reported it they came the next day and the day following the called an exterminator. There are many, many, many more issues I can't go into here due to length restrictions but suffice it to say this place is NOT worth the nearly $4k/month they charged me claiming it's a "premier community with great amenities." Don't fall for it. Go rent somewhere else. And definitely not unit #211!!!

I have lived all across the US due to being a travel nurse--so i have lived in my fair share of apartments. To find any place without fault is impossible, but to continually have MAJOR issues over the last year AND to be paying $4,500/month is unacceptable. We live in a 2B2BR w/loft--the layout itself is gorgeous with high ceilings, a giant island, and large living space. Minor cosmetic issues such as light fixtures needing replaced, tubs needing resealed, and locks being changed to the SAME key seemed like very easy fixes--who knew it would lead to a maintenance request list that is now over 20+ requests long and continues to grow the longer we are required to stay here. Of the 20+ requests placed, the MAIN issues are: Our AC has officially broken 4 TIMES within the last year. Meaning it will continuously run our utility bill up, but freezes over and pumps out hot air--putting the apartment at a crispy 91 degrees when coming home from work. Keep in mind this is with it set to a REASONABLE 74 degrees! The garbage disposal quit working--maintenance request placed and it was "fixed". A week later a smell is coming from under the sink; they forgot to replace something and there is now rotting food covering all of our things under the sink which needed to be thrown out. Were we compensated for their mistake? HAHA jokes if you thought so! Our washing machine broke, leaving standing water/clothes and a mess--luckily this was replaced! AFTER MULTIPLE REQUESTS stating that our old washer still wasn't working after they "fixed it". The trash chute was broken for over 3 MONTHS requiring us to take all our trash to a completely different side of the building--no compensation, still charged regular price for trash. THE PARKING. We pay $125 a month for 2 cars, and if you're a resident there, you are only allowed to park on floors 3, 4, and 5 while parking is free for everyone else. This means if you park is a regular spot on the first floor just to run up to your place to grab something, they will place a barnacle on your windshield in which YOU MUST PAY $150 to remove!!!!!!!! THE POOL The pool has been closed 5+ times just this summer due to them not being able to keep the chemicals at a safe level, so don't plan to use it on your days off because it will most likely be cloudy, gross, and unsafe. If you can't tell, the maintenance team is truly the backbone of The Waypointe apartments, and if i had read this review before signing a 1.5 year lease we wouldn't be in this situation. Save yourself stress, regret, and $$$$!!!! DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!

Cons: change in management, if you don't lock your car & because the garage is wide open you are at risk of break in., random fire alarm can get pulled so making everyone evacuate. Pro: door friendly, a lot of community events and raffles, mailroom is better and they fixed the mailroom issues they had a couple of years ago. The restaurants and bars downstairs I saw someone say there were drive bys I've never heard that, that is insane and inaccurate.

Make sure you record conversation with them cuz they promising one and doing other (lying straight to your face). When I moved in on first floor I put my area rugs, couch and mattress just to discover I had mold underneath. Jackie (management) send "inspector" looked on mold and clearly stated in front of Jackie and me that mold is caused by bad AC and every apartment on fisrt floor will have the same issue. "Inspector" send his crew to clean. Few days later I was informed to pay for that service because it was my fault. I was charged close to 2000$, and as a courtesy I was only charged 50%. I asked for report from that inspection, and of course there was no report as per Jackie. I had to get my own inspection done to proof that mold is under the flooring and in the air. Charges was removed after that but of course I wasn't reimbursed for that inspection. Besides that: 1) black mold is literally coming from faucets 2) walls are thin like paper- you can hear everything what your neighbors doing. 3) If you invite more than 2 people and hang out in lobby you will be charge for using that space. 4) rats in garbage areas 5) back doors are always broken and anyone can enter the building 6) packages are missing on daily bases, management response was contact your shipping provider I could keep going ang going with all minuses but just STAY AWAY from Beacon
