They should not crush rock before 7am and respect typical quiet hours. This morning I was awoken at 6:12 and this is unacceptable.

Terrible customer service. visited store to look at products for our home and no one offered to help. instead went to a big box store to purchase not knowing they used Halquist as their supplier. Once our countertops were installed we immediately saw a problem and had to have them back. a few months later our seam was failing and after calling, visiting, and messaging them it has taken months to get them to come fix the problem. finally they set a date to arrive but did not show up on time, in fact I'm still waiting and not sure they ever will show up. we have more counters to replace and I will be sure wherever we go we will make sure they do not use Halquist. read more

I've never been here before and wasn't sure how things worked meaning how do you purchase product pay for it and go. I walked in the front door as the person where to find a specific item they explain the whole aberration to me I got my product I'm very satisfied and I was out the door. Let me see if I can get through this review without making jokes about it. I probably can't but read on, anyway. There are a number of quarries in Waukesha County, some are private for construction companies but others are open to pros in the trades and to regular home owners, like me. Halquist is probably the best known of that type of quarry. The company carries a wide range of construction materials from the simplest crushed limestone to stone veneers, stone kitchen counters, decorative stones of all kinds and even to pavers. There is a very impressive showroom for you to inspect. The Halquist staff is helpful and as comfortable with construction pros as they are with the most ignorant consumer that walks in the impressive front door. The building is clad with a wide range of stone veneers, all labeled for your research. Various types and sizes of crushed stone are on display as are pavers and landscaping blocks of all kinds. Rest assured, all are clearly labeled for your research. In fact, the grounds display an impressive array of landscaping, patio and construction concepts and ideas. I was in need of several tons of crushed stone to replace stone washed out of my driveway. The experts listened to my needs and what I thought I wanted, then patiently explained what I really wanted and why. Crushed stone is sold by the ton but measured in cubic yards. Even with an online calculator that figures out how much stone I needed, I still completely underestimated how much I actually needed, and wound up making three trips to Halquist. No one laughed at me, in fact, they were happy to see me again. Ready to make a purchase but you're intimidated by construction yards? Don't be. The Halquist system is idiot proof, if you know the procedure. Understand, all products here are sold by weight. When you pull into the parking lot, look for the scale. Drive up on to the scale, it doesn't matter if you have a dump truck, heavy trailer or washtubs in the back of a pickup truck, just drive on to the scale. Stop and wait for a voice command to come over the loudspeaker. Typical consumer products (crushed limestone, decorative stone, sand, etc.) are in the first aisle. Turn left. You can shovel your own into buckets (sand, small amounts of stone, etc.) if you like, but more likely, you'll have a truck or trailer. Wait in your vehicle, a front end loader will soon appear and the operator will ask what you're purchasing and how much you need. I had a rented dump trailer. Before you know it, you'll be loaded and on your way. Stop on the scale again, and wait for the voice command to proceed. There is a parking area just to the right of the scale, pull into one of those long, angled spaces. Head inside and settle up your bill. It's that easy! Nope, can't do it. I went to Halquist today to get stoned. And yes, they rocked my world. You see, I told you I couldn't get through it without the requisite gags. read more

As a contractor, we've been going to Halquist for over 6 years now. We typically use the location off Ryan Road in Franklin and prefer going here as it is not as busy as the Sussex location. We enjoy interacting with the staff here and the fact that it's always the same staff says a lot about their management! They have all new displays at the Franklin location and did a wonderful job on the building! The guys here are very helpful! read more

Extremely disappointed in the customer service from start to finish!! Good product, but terrible communication from the sales rep and installation team throughout the whole process. Used to go to Halquist Stone for Dozer Days which they hosted a couple of years back until the state told them they could no longer run it. It was always a great event and they raised alot of money for the community. It was awesome to see the big rigs up close when the wheels are bigger than you are. They gave you a good review of what goes on at a working quarry. Recently we visited again but this time for a Scout outing for the boys to learn about Geology. Our teacher / guide was extremely helpful and really knew his stuff. We learned all about the different rocks and minerals in the area, fossils, and how these different things came to be. The boys got to collect different rock samples to create a collection. If you have a Scout group, I really recommend you check it out. Informative and fun and best of all, IT'S FREE! read more

Needed landscape stone to extend an existing patio. I wasn't sure exactly what I needed, but after showing one of the guys behind the counter a picture on my phone I was told the stone I needed was Chilton Steppers. I explained it was a relatively small job at less that 100 square feet and was told about 1 ton should do the job. I ordered the stone on a Friday and its was delivered the following Monday. The order process was easy. Pricing was hundreds of dollars LESS than other area stone suppliers. The one ton of stone worked out to be correct with very few leftovers. Great selection of stone for my project. Counter guy was nice and helpful to me, a regular guy not driving a huge dump truck. I needed some stone to top dress a gravel drive and another project and he helped me figure out what was best. Yard guy was great in loading the #2500 on my trailer and after a quick weight and back in the office to pay, i was on my way. stone is really affordable if you pick it up. Ordered Halquist Stone through Valley City Supply based on sample we paid to bring home. Hired a contractor to reface our existing fireplace (2 story room) realized once half of the stone was installed that it did not match the sample-3 of the colors of stone from sample were not sent with order. No help from Valley City supply or the Halquist company to fix this problem. Really bad experience and would be expensive to make changes. Huge disappointment for a expensive project. Buyer beware-you may regret doing business with these companies. read more

Don't trust halquist with your granite!!! They may have been in business for a long time, but they definitely don't know how to do granite (or make their customers happy) We found granite we liked at Halquist, but after it was fabricated and installed, the edge wasn't the same color as the surface. The top color was tan overall and the edge was black! solid black! And the color rubbed off on your hands, or anything that rubbed against it. I still can't believe the installers didn't question it before they just came and installed it. I can only assume they just hoped we would not say anything. when we contacted them they said the enhancer they put on the edge must have caused it to turn black. obviously their fab department had no idea what they were doing, and didn't even try and fix it. There was no mistaking they screwed up! They tried to remove it and couldn't so they gave us the choice of either keeping what we had or they would re-do the counters with 2 slabs they had in stock that we didn't really like. After consideration, we decided that granite that wasn't what we had dreamed of done correctly was better than countertops that looked like a reject. Because we really didn't like the granite, we took time to lay out our pieces and went back to halquist and measured and taped out the layout on the slabs with the manager of the fab department. We were very surprised when the finished counters didn't even follow the layout WE taped out for them. On top of that there are gouges in the top surface and chips in the ogee decorative edge we paid extra for. They messed up our counters twice! We tried numerous times to contact them to try and understand if there was a reason they altered the layout, and to complain about the edge quality but couldn't get our phone calls returned. The only thing they contacted us was to tell us to pay the balance of the bill. No offer to repair the chips and gouges. no reduced price for their mistakes. No care or concern for their customers satisfaction. So, after saving for two years to get a granite kitchen we should love, we are back to saving to start all over again. This time we won't be shopping at halquist! Don't make the same mistake we did. read more

Halquist installed my granite counter tops and I love them. When installed there was a chip in the granite. Robert Madsen at Halquist had a granite repair service come out (BJK Services) and you absolutely can not tell there was ever a chip there. Robert even came out to make sure we were happy with everything after the repair. Now that's service! I would have given 5 stars but unfortunately we were not put in touch with Robert initially so we had to push to try and get a resolution but once Robert was made aware of the issue it was resolved quickly, and professionally. read more

Great customer service! I worked with Robert, he was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different granite slabs. Halquist has a huge selection and their remnants program is great. Robert was very patient with us, taking 3 or 4 times to look and make our selections; even switching last minute, like a week before it was to be cut and delivered. The customer service is excellent and pricing is reasonable. We put granite counter tops in all the bathrooms and kitchen and it turned out great. read more
