The most BEAUTIFUL salon I've ever been to! My whole experience was pure posh. Upon entering, I was greeted & offered a beverage. They offer an assortment of coffee, tea & I believe champagne on occasions. The waiting area is so luxurious, with velvet chairs & a whole catalogue of haircare products. This is a place you'll want to hang out it in all day. I LOVE the wallpaper & seasonal decorations throughout the salon. I'm pretty low maintenance hair wise so I got a basic wash, cut & style. First we talked about what I wanted & then we went to wash my hair. They have an abdundant selection of R+Co products to customize your wash with products that fit your hair profile. I would have liked for the wash to be a little more intensive, such as offering more a scalp massage. I think that would amp up their service. My stylist was very nice but she was fresh out of cosmology school so that made me a little nervous. Her hands were trembling the whole time. She ended up doing a great job & really put a lot of focus into accomplishing what I wanted to do with my hair. I was VERY impressed with how she was able to wash, cut & style my hair in less than 60 minutes. Without it feeling rushed. The whole service was only $40! I assume it's because prices are based on stylist experience but my stylist was such a PRO that this was a great deal. I had a VERY pleasant experience & I look forward to going back. I don't get my hair cut often because I'm always dissatisfied with the service but they have so much to offer that going back is a treat! I plan to buy some products & just hang out. Extra kudos to the owner of Halo for developing a business that is classy, hip & fun! She has put so much effort into designing the salon to have such intricate details, down to the bathroom that has luxury soap & hand cream. I am traveling and Yelped "hair salon" and Halo showed up rated highly. My hair was grown out at least twice the normal length after 3 months on the road. I called to make an appt and they set me up with Shanelle for the next morning. After describing how particular I am about my haircut and how it should look and work she was still willing to cut my mop. Shanelle took the mess on top of my head and made it look like a fashion model's cut! I am an old guy and she was able to take 10 years off of my looks. She did everything that I wanted and more!!! I had not been successful finding a salon i liked in Helena since I moved to the area. I was very grateful to be able to get an appointment on the same day with Aaris at Halo. The salon is very modern, clean and beautiful. I was greeted immediately and offered a beverage. Aaris did a wonderful job on my hair. She is so adorable and nice. They even have the cutest dog, I think her name is Ginger who greets you and checks up on you while you are getting your hair done. I felt right at home. I left feeling amazing. Totally cut off inches after I told her not to! Omg I say I should get to cut off your hair not wth!?!? Picture in brown coat is how l mg my hair was going in, I said no more than 1/4 inch off! Pic in multicolor tank is what she did without asking and told me it's just what was needed!? I asked over and over for just a dusting absolutely no more than quarter inch. Just getting a little dead end trimming. She took off more than I asked and now it's shorter thank I wanted. I didn't even really need a hair cut just trying to keep it healthy and when I called back she said she just cut off what was needed where it was dead so half inch or so maybe little more but not that much. When I asked why she didn't do what I asked or tell me she was taking more than I asked off or just ask first she didn't really know. Sounded like I was being annoy asking why she didn't communicate and just went ahead and cut more than I asked. I was very very clear. So sad. I was excited to find this place. Looks super cool and stylish, as does everyone in there. Really reasonably priced. She says she took of half and inch but my hair is closer to my shoulders than my chest now:( to be fair she's very nice just not what I asked for and she is actually moving in a month. So maybe the other stylists listen to their customers. I'd really like to go back but that's too scary. I do think there was anything else I could've said to ask for what I wanted. I even asked if there was a better way I could've communicated to make sure this doesn't happen again and she wasn't interested in the conversation. NOT ok. You can't just do whatever you want stylists. Listen to customers even if it's a small difference that's not up to you. read more

I guess this place might suit some people but I found it very disquieting and, upon entering, felt as though I was entering a barn. Loud music, you can hear all that's being said, no privacy - stations lined up - reminded me of rest room stalls without the separation. I only had a quick trim of bangs, but I wouldn't want to be there much longer. The haircut was fine. Apparently this atmosphere appeals to some - just not me. read more

Sarah is a wizard, not to mention a hair whisperer. She listens to my requests and then gives me the truth about what will look best on me. It's hard to see oneself accurately. I rely on her to make sure my hair doesn't get too blond, too grey, too long, etc. Her coloring and cutting skills are unmatched. I have been on the planet long enough to know that a good stylist is one of the keys to happiness. I was worried about finding someone great in Helena. A kind soul recommended Sarah, and I could not be more grateful. I don't have to fuss with or worry about my hair after I leave. It always looks great. Also, I do not get frequent manicures, but recently decided to spruce up a bit. Mara did a wonderful job and was really lovely. It is a rather intimate affair to sit in someone's company for 45 minutes or so. Mara was delightful and, top secret, my nails make me look way more polished and uptown than I actually am. read more

I get it most guys probably don't care about there hair, but when you walk into halo, you know wether your a guy or girl you're going to get treated like the world. With a espresso machine available to make you whatever delicious caffeinated drink of your choice or refreshing iced water infused with fresh berries you know you'll never fall asleep or go thirsty here. The interior is huge, I mean vaulted ceilings like your church and tons of windows to let natural light in, its a 1 of a kind setting. The stylist booths are all spaced out too so no more hearing about Martha's evening out with the girls. Want product that different than anyone else and supports a good cause? Try out the Pete and Pedro product line good stuff fellas! I guess the most important thing is the results of the hair cut-phew, not even a question here. It's a experience and a long lasting result that will not only make your day amazing(so I suggest going early), but your confidence going into a big interview/presentation/date etc is going to be at a all time high after these girls at halo get done with you. Oh ya the price point, if you're a cheap oh that likes chain salon like great clips please ask a loved one of yours for $10's add that to what you normally spend and you'll receive a experience 10x on value and a cut 100x in value. I've been coming here for about two years now and I absolutely love this place. The ladies of Halo are all very talented and you immediately like a friend or even family when you walk in the door. Can't say enough about the space and decor, and they offer fantastic products as well. From hair products, to makeup, to unique jewelry, to perfume and luxury candles, this place has a little bit of everything to suit your wants/needs. And they have local art displayed on the walls. If you need a gift for Mother's Day, definitely consider a gift certificate to Halo! Shanelle Seed has been my go-to hair guru since I moved back to Montana and I can't thank her enough. I usually bring in a photo of what I'm thinking for my next hairstyle and she always nails it. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist who is very skilled in cut and color execution.
