My hair was…read moregetting to the point where it looked frizzy and fried even after trimming it, and even though it had taken me years of forgoing heat styling and harsh chemical treatments to grow it out, I had 4 to 6 inches that were pretty damaged. Even so, I felt that this was still a big risk for me. I've always been wary of stylists that love nothing more than chopping away at hair with no regard for the person's decisions. On top of that, I had a big presentation the next day, and my wedding about a week and a half afterward. I felt at ease with Nicole. She was so sweet, welcoming and funny. She was very gentle with my hair and really listened to me when I described the result I wanted. And I really love how my hair turned out! I felt very relaxed and comfortable with what she was doing. Probably the biggest plus is that I'm a reserved person, but I genuinely enjoyed talking with Nicole while she worked... I was almost a chatterbox. It's a cute little salon. After making a few calls to check on pricing, this salon quotes me $13 for a haircut and I have the option to walk in. Hmmm, being from California originally, I wonder what is wrong with this place...I check online a bit more and discover Elite has been voted as the best in Carthage. I decide to take the plunge and drive over. My misgivings intensify when I see it looks like a residence with a business sign. My grandma used to see an elderly stylist that worked from her home and that woman gave 12-year-old me the ugliest cut I ever had. I remember the best in Carthage thing and decide to forge ahead. It was a big surprise. While it is a house, it's been fully converted for business use. I see a waiting area and an array of chairs and stylists hard at work. Since I've walked in on a Friday afternoon I'm expecting to wait a while, but my timing is perfect because Tammy just had a cancellation and takes me to another room where she is set up by herself. Lucky me because I hate crowds and this one on one is ideal for me. I show her the inverted bob style I've selected, verify this will work on my fine hair texture, and the friendly stylist gets to work. Long story short, she did a fantastic job. She sends me home with my old ponytail disconnected from my head and a new style that is light and flattering. It looks like a $50 cut and I got a lot of compliments that night at Art Walk.
