We received estimates from a couple of other local companies and they all gave me a similar explanation..."yes, it may just be your A/C but we never recommend replacing a 10 yr old unit without also replacing the furnace. Plus, you'll make the money back because the new system will be so much more efficient." Great recommendation for sales, not for the homeowner. Bob's came in (and I think it was actually Bob) and spoke the truth. In short, he replaced the bad coil and reconfigured my 10 yr old high efficiency furnace so that the variable fan wasn't stuck on low. That was July 2018 and everything HVAC is wonderful at my house. I was given quotes for a replacement system that seemed to be very high. I got quotes from several other companies that were significantly lower.
