The plastic around my windshield that holds it in place got popped out of place from the ice storm. Today, I went to go get my oil changed at Dipstix on Jackson Avenue, where I have been going to get my oil changed all four years that i've been at Ole Miss and they have been nothing short of exceptional! So, when I was there, I asked them if they could just look at it to advise me on how to go about getting it fixed. Every employee who was working came and looked at the windshield and advised me to go to Southland body shop to get it fixed. They said that it was a simple job, and that the plastic around it just needed to be taken off and put back on correctly. I took their advice and I went. Upon arrival, everything seemed fine. I spoke to the owner, Ronnie, and I told him what the issue was and he came out there to try and fix it. He grabbed two tools, that looked like plastic ice scrapers, and began banging on my windshield with them. I expressed my concerns for the way he was going about it, because it looked sketchy. Additionally, because I was worried something like this would happen I videoed him. He assured me that he could do it, and that it would cause no harm to my windshield or car. However, he ended up cracking my windshield. I have had this car for five years and I have never cracked my windshield. When I brought it to his attention that he cracked my windshield, he said, and I quote "no good deed goes unpunished" and insisted that the crack had been there. I explained to him that I had him on video cracking my windshield, I had a picture of my windshield from last night, and that I had just left Dipstix and that they would all vouch for me. He called me a liar. I went back to Dipstix and showed them the new crack, and they all agreed that it was not there before I went to the body shop, that they said that they would never refer anybody to this place ever again, and expressed how sorry they were for sending me there. They advise me to get legal council, especially after I told them the way Ronnie spoke to me when I told him he cracked my windshield. This was so frustrating for so many reasons. But the main one is this... In my experience, when it comes to being a female and going to handle something regarding a vehicle, most male workers do not expect you to know what they're talking about. Women often are not expected to know anything about cars, and are often spoken to in the most condescending manner when dealing with male body shop workers. This was the case for me and I did not appreciate it. I just left Windshield Magician on North Lamar, and they confirmed that his manner of attempting to fix my windshield was what broke it. They were so kind and extremely sincere, and I would recommend them to anyone!!

As someone who knows very little about cars it put me at ease. Overall their service is excellent, they work quickly, and they're overwhelmingly considerate. If you're a student who is worried about budgeting when it comes to repairs on your car I definitely recommend Southland. The actual price I paid was MUCH lower than the initial estimate they gave me, which made me and my parents very happy. I definitely think Southland is my new go to spot in Oxford if I ever have car troubles!

I called up 3 places yesterday and the first two told me they don't patch tires that they put plugs in tires when you have a flat or a tire that keeps losing air. However, this place told me they only patch tires. So, that sold me. Also, I got my oil changed here and they did a good job on it too. So, they helped me with 2 problems I was having with my truck.

We recently bought an older truck from them that seemed to be in decent mechanical condition. Within a week of purchase, the truck showed major issues. A mechanic inspected it and indicated it needs THOUSANDS of dollars in mechanical repair. I contacted the dealer because we just bought the vehicle. Asked them for help. Told them it was financially devastating to our family. All they said back to me was - thanks for your purchase. ...the truck was purchased as is. That's all they said. It has now been less than 3 weeks since we purchased it - there's no way these issues just suddenly happened out of nowhere right after we bought it. They are UNWILLING to discuss this in good faith and to do the right thing. We spent all of our savings to buy this truck. Once the sale is final, they do not care. No matter the deal.... No matter how great everything seems.... I urge you to take your business elsewhere or you may end up in a financial predicament.

When I went to go pick it up, they were rude and had negative customer service skills. The man I talked to appeared to be the owner and he couldn't give more than one word, angry replies. Then told me that it was going to be $305. CASH. What kind of business is charging $305/tow with a lot full of cars and doesn't accept a credit card?!? Without a doubt these guys are avoiding taxes and should be shut down; both for legal reasons and because they have the worst customer service, people skills, empathy etc. Do not take your car here, do not give these people your hard earned money. And if you do get towed, be ready cause these guys suck. Also, the ATM down the street doesn't work and its the only one in a 10 mile radius.

Second was that he already had 2 other vehicles in the bay area. He has no sitting area for customers who are waiting during the repair to sit, so I called my family member who lives in the area to pick me up, due to the fact that I live 35 miles from his shop. After 2.5 hours, I was told that my vehicle was ready. Get there, started it up, and it was a little louder than normal. I drove it around the corner, then back to his shop to advise that something wasn't right. He claimed that everything was good. By the time I reached home, I was smelling strong exhaust fumes. I parked it for the rest of the day. THE NEXT DAY, I started it up, drove 3 blocks away from my home, and suddenly, my suv started sounding worse than an old tractor! I called him, advised what was going on, and he told me to drive it back to Batesville. After arriving, dropping off and waiting 1.5 hours for a call to come and pick up my vehicle, I arrived and asked Mr. Weaver if he would reimburse me $50 of my almost $600, for my time and gas since he didn't complete the task on the previous day, and his response was to blame the manufacturer of the part. He said that he would contact them first, and then reach out to me the next week. I STILL HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALL! NEVER AGAIN!
