The pool itself typically has leaves and pine needles, but it's surrounded by trees so that's to be expected. I did a paid membership this past summer as a fun option for my kids 4 & 6 years old and I do not recommend. The hours advertised on their website are not accurate with more closed days and later openings than stated. The staff is rude and disorganized, and facilities are old and not well maintained. It costs $3 to attend for the day, I recommend doing that for the 1-2 times you'll want to go. I also did swim lesson for my children. The lessons are listed as 30 mins but with attendance, line up, and general intros each week they spent no more than 10 mins in the water. read more

$2 admission for kids; $3 for adults (you pay even though you're not using the facility which kind of stinks). Affordable enough for the kids to run around in the splash pad. My child spent less than 30 mins due to the cold water. The water in Arlington is warmer. Parking is crazy so good luck finding one. read more

You may have driven by this place, and never given it much thought. I know I did for many years, until nieces and nephews started popping up everywhere. The Hall Memorial Pool is located in Stoneham across the busy street from Friendly's. It's a GREAT place to take your kids in the summer, despite it being along a super-busy road. It's a public pool - open for free to anyone during the summer months. It has it's own private parking lot (free), a main building (I've never been in - I assume it's locker rooms, bathrooms, etc), a public pool out front, and a kiddie/wading pool in the front, along with a small playground. I have never used the public pool, my nieces and nephews are small, and so I usually walk in the water with them at the kiddie pool and make sure they don't drown each other. Kids LOVE this small pool. OK so it might be a little dirty, but it's really not bad at all. Has a fountain that sprays up from one side - kinda neat. There's a little playground that the kids will go to in between swimming bouts. The whole area is gated with a chain-link fence so they're perfectly save from the busy street. Also - there are lifeguards on duty - even at the kiddie pool! There is also ample lawn space to put down your towels and sit and have a snack or lunch. Money is tight - this place is FREE and it's a good way to get your kids outside and moving for a couple hours. Go now, before it closes for the season! read more

I would give this between a 2 and 3. the Boys and girls club have just bough the pool and the childrens pool and adults pool is open as of Saturday. we have been 2 times and my 2 yearold loved it but after the 7th of July adults will have to pay 3 dollars and children under 12 will be 2 dollars year pass(which really means the summer) is 150 for a family up to 5 people and a single member is $100 senoirs are $50 and active military are free. when we went the day it opened i had to wait an hour for them to get the pool levels right and all the kids were just waiting . it was sopose to open at 9 but we didnt get in till after 12. if i had to pay I would have been more upset. it is a great place and the shallow pool is great but for my family to have to pay 150 or 8 dollars to take my 2 year old for an hour ..that is tough they do want to offer swim lessons i think the small pool should be free or a dollar...or kids under 5 sh read more

Great day trip for the family! There's a playground, splash park, and swimming pool (not open every day). The playground is perfect for elementary age. The splash pad has numerous fountains to get wet at. Be forewarned, the splash pad water is city water and pretty cold. I did not get to try the pool. Adult are $3 and children are $2. I feel that some of the negative comments are valid, but you get what you pay for. Since this pool is free, I have to say that I have no complaints. Yes, the kiddie pool has some pine needles in it. The pool is surrounded by pine trees, creating a nice blanket of shade at the pool, even at high noon. It was great. My toddler loved the playground as well. The bathrooms are ok. They are large, not super-clean, but are in an acceptable condition for this type of facility. The pool in the back for swimming was great. There are far fewer trees actually covering that pool. There were not any pine needles in the water that I noticed. My toddler had a great time jumping into the water and swimming back to the edge to repeat that for about 45 minutes. This place is great - and at a wonderful price. Bring your own water & a picnic lunch, and enjoy a couple of hours with your kids at a minimal expense (no entry fee and no parking fee). read more

The pool doesn't open until 11:00. Kind of late for those with young children! They ended up after people waiting for an hour telling us there was no chlorine in the pool. Lots of crying kids.... you can't use the pool without chlorine! At least they told us that. read more

I don't mind paying to swim, but please clean the place up! The pool has all sorts of debris and the bathrooms are disgusting! Wear water shoes if using this pool! There is no wading pool this year just a few sprinklers with a slippery cement floor. I give The Boys and Girls Club credit for keeping it open but please clean it up! read more

for the kiddie pool the hours are inconvenient. the pool itself is dirty and has dead leaves in it. the people that work there are total slackers as they are always delaying the time the pool opens because they have to "clean up". one time workers showed up at 10:55am to start working on all the benches and kept the gates closed until they were done (it took almost an hour) with tons of crying kids waiting to go in. they simply dont care. read more

Much better than in past. Taken over by Boys and Girls clubs. Their main limitation is funding, so hours still a bit limited, i.e. 10 to 6. Summer family pass now only 70 bucks, which is a bargain. The big pool has a lap lane, tho you often need to ask the Guards to ask people to clear out. Water can be cool, but clean. Guards seem more attentive this year. Changing rooms cleaner, and thank God the hot water works again! read more
