The train station at Hall Green is different from many of the more provincial train stations in Birmingham in that a good deal of attention seems to have been paid to make it appear nice. Based in a leafy setting with ornate wooden finishing on the platforms, the station is a generally nice play to be, unlike many of the concrete monstrosities serving other areas of Birmingham, and reflects the general atmosphere around Hall Green. There are no ticket machines, only an office, meaning that when this is closed, you'll need to get a permit to travel, which can end up saving you money if the barriers are open at wherever you're going. Other benefits include a decent sized car park which is free to use, meaning getting the train to Moor Street makes this one of the cheapest ways to get into the city centre for a day of shopping. read more
