While we didn't have on our hiking boots on or appropriate clothing for a 3 hour hike in 0 degree weather, we still thoroughly enjoyed the view and a brief walk. The full hike is about 14 km. Cape Split is definitely going on my Nova Scotia bucket list to hike when we come back!

I really enjoyed my hike to Cape Split this past weekend. I should have paid closer attention to…read morethe signage and noticed how long it was going to take (total: 14km). I wore sneakers and active wear clothing, so at least I planned that part right. You're most likely going to get your shoes dirty and or wet, the beginning of the trail is pretty muddy and it had rained the night before so there was a small river running over path for a good distance. After a few kms the path gets less ATV-ish and nicer, still tons of roots though. I would suggest packing a lunch or snack for when you reach the end. The best part was sitting on the cliff, enjoying the view and eating something. I took my shih tzu and he was able to walk/run the whole thing. He was a mess when we finished, because he loved the mud holes, and was so tired he didn't care about walking straight through them. Don't forget snacks for the dog! That slipped my mind, but luckily someone at the look off point had a big bag of them. Pack lots of water, wear comfortable sneakers and you will be fine. We came across lots of dogs, kids and people of all ages. The view is beautiful, and worth every step!

This includes Parking for one. To add another car in (to camp on your site is $8). It's worth it. Camp fires are a must so make sure you pick up your firewood from the office. Bundles are very well priced at $5 each. Well with it as they are hefty bundles. We camped at site 31 it was the best because it was shaded and a little more private. I would recommend site 31, 32, and 33. They have fire pits, a table, and lots of space to have 2 or 3 large tents. The hike is with it. It's not very difficult but it's got some great views. It took us about 1 hour 45 minutes. We walked slow the way up and fast the way back. The campground was not loud at all. Because of the trees it gave a little more privacy and didn't carry sound from site to site. Overall highly recommended :)

If you've been debating going to TreeGO in Moncton, save some fuel $ and stay in NS. I've done both…read moreTreeGO and OnTree twice. I'll stick with OnTree. Why? Let's do some comparing. Courses TreeGO has three courses - they're all fun but kind of long. OnTree has 12 courses - they are generally shorter but they also have a ranking system so you know how difficult they are. And a separate kids' area. ...And that's really it. That's the big point for OnTree. The equipment is also slightly different - a bit less convenient because it's safer. The rules and formats are pretty similar. It's mostly that there are more courses (which means shorter lines) and you can choose how difficult you want it to be. With TreeGO, you do the three courses and then ... you come back and do them again? With OnTree, you can start off easy and work your way up to Black Diamond (... not that I have). If you have a group (15 or more?) you can also get a discount which is nice. I definitely see this as a good team-building venture. But you can't really keep that large a group together. Half the people will finish a course before the last person even gets to the first obstacle. Seriously - this place is just fun.

It is a bargain at only $5 per kid to have your kid play here all day. I have been here with the kids for several hours and it always have to pull them out when it is time to leave. There is plenty of seats and tables for parents and wifi. They also allow outside food and drink so you can get a Tim's from the Mall and bring in with you. The staff are friendly, engaged and good with kids which is not a give in at some places. They also seem to keep busy tidying up after the kids and washing toys. The lady that was on duty in the play area pushed my little guy on a swing. They are the only playplace I have ever seen that offers a child minding service. This is $5 a kid per hour. You are not supposed to leave the mall while your kid is being cared for. The only things I could knock it for was that the place is showing a lot of wear and tear and could do with some freshening up. I also don't like the arcade games- there is a gallery of them right by the play area for little kids. They run in loud demo mode so that you can hear bloops and bleeps all over the place. The way things are set up you have to pass right by them to get to the play area and the game subject matter are not suitable for young kids. They also have lots of candy and junk right by the check out at eye level for kids. I don't like the suggestive selling to kids and it can make it hard to leave.
