I thought I'd get my bike sorted out as a joint birthday present, as it happens I didn't get this but I did learn something that everyone else seems to already know.
When it comes to fixing bikes, having and true knowledge of how to put things together safely and not just following kit instructions from a bike in a box, I'd rather rely on an angry baboon than go to Halfords again.
I had to go back three times! Gear cables broke from being fitted badly on taking the faulty bike back 15 minutes after a full service, the rear inner tube exploded after the wrong size being fitted and valve cap left inside the wheel!!!
Advise on not being able to get hold of a south pulling front gear changer these days being nonsense. Not completing all services required. And last but not least, not bothering to even WD40 any part of the bike.
Generally a quiet unsocial bunch, easier to get blood from a stone than to get some sort of comp, let alone a sense that anyone even cared.
If you love your bike take it to the family run business or check out gumtree for parts and fix it yourself, you could still get a result from Halfords I'm sure but that's if you don't mind the impersonal approach of a team of people who only see it as a job. read more
